At the moment of life and death when the cable car crashed, the parents lifted up their children, shaking people“s hearts! A cable car tragedy, where both parents died but saved their young son at the last minute with their last ounce of life holding him up. It's extremely heart felt.

I fall on the side of sadness. For me, it is an intense heart-wrenching story of a young boy losing his mother and father as they sacrifice their own lives to save him. It is bittersweet in a sorrowful way when his mother mentions daybreak.

Of curse the parents died and it was all over the news Han Hong she saw that she adopted the boy and wrote this very emotional song. Now you know so you will understand really understand each word , instrument and move that Dimash did.

Very sad song. Thanks for your reaction. I agree the word “daybreak” here is sad rather than optimistic. It brought the end of his dream of seeing and hearing his father and mother. It might also refer to how the child never saw his parents again after that starry night. This song brings tears to my eyes when I listen with the english subtitles on. Dimash sings them so heartfelt.

Dimash isn't an alien... he's a friggin unicorn. I believe Dimash is a once in a millennium singer... the odd confluence of a God-given gift with tremendous hard work. He is going to transform the whole of the art of singing and is already doing so by combining opera with pop, traditional, everything... He will be a benchmark for future generations..... and will one day be called the GOAT.

Get used to the knee drop! LOL! You've already seen it in Adagio. Dimash's fellow competitors got worried for Dimash during the 2017 I Am Singer competition and gifted him with some knee pads!!!

In 1999, a cable car accident took the lives of 14 tourists in China. One couple lifted their son out of the falling cable car to safety, but their action meant they were unable to survive the accident. Han Hong wrote 'Daybreak' to commemorate the couple's sacrifice for their child and later, she adopted the orphan. Dimash sings the song in the original Mandarin, from the point of view of the child.

The first time he was performing this song at the show SINGER, he was sick. There was a problem at his throat. Even so that performance was impressive. With this Bastau performance of Daybreak, Dimash showed his real potential on this song.

I couldent belive his voce and performence in the singer competionen was so dam god when he lost his voice the same day!!! He dident know if he could sing when he went on stage!!! He found the voice when he started singing. Also the contestens backstage was worreyd for him and they showed that to. When he started doing high notes !!! Wow. The doctors told him not to sing high notes!!! After he had so mutch pain that he lost his voice again. He did that show knowing he could really heart his voice doing it!!! Thats the kind of man he is! Also in the mist and sorrow of his voice I must say this was the perfekt song for that problem...it added texture and sorrow in a way. Offcourse I dident whant him ta have that problem though.

This is the ultimate song of hope. Hope is meaningless without grief. Of course there is intense pain. The pain is in line with the ultimate sacrifice made by the parents. A reflection of the the ultimate selfless love. The Mother's sacrifice is meaningless if her child does not survive and have hope.

Wow, I have seen this video many of time. You gave me chills when watching your react to this video. When ever you react to a Dimash video’s, you teach me a lot about how to break his voice down. He’s technique, he’s range and what to listen from his song. I love all music. Now when I stop and really listen to the music, I understand the whole song better. That’s because what I have learn from your reaction so far. I’m just a diesel mechanic not a musician but thank you thank you for what I have learn from you so far. Have a safe and nice day . Daybreak in this song is the dawn the beginning of a new life for the toddler. The point in the songs story where the toddlers last vision of his mother looking back at him, smiling as his parents are falling away is both his mother's happiness of knowing that her child is safe & her unselfishness (ignoring her own impending terror) inorder to leave her young one with a pleasant vision of her not being fearful of moving onto what is coming next, setting a good example to the end.

The intro to the Gloria Wu treatment of the performance on Singer 2017 not only has the back story to the song, but also covers how Dimash lost his voice the day before having to sing the song, and shows him getting an injection to his throat. It also shows Dimash getting a phone call from Han Hong. The lyrics and mood make more sense when you know the tragic circumstances behind the song.

When you know the tragic story of this song, it is simply amazing how Dimash gets used to the role of the son of his dead parents. If he wasn't such a singer, he could well have achieved an Oscar in cinema. I don't even understand why there is no similar award for vocalists for their role. After all, no matter how much you listen to this performance without tears, it is not possible and you believe that he personally was on that cable car.

I think both point of views have been brought together by the song writer. Bc yes the boy has lost his parents yes they sacrificed their lives for him but the boy stayed alive & could see the day light which is all that matters for all parents, to keep their child alive & to give all they have to protect him. So we have lost & love together in this song. And Dimashs strong interpretation of it is so heartbreakin & exciting at the same time. Great analysis enjoyed watchin u. tnx

For someone who didn°t know the meaning of the song, you did an amazing reaction. It certainly is a sad song, because it is such a sad story, but it finished well. Han Hong, who adaopted the child and who wrote the song, gave this little boy a daybreak.

@dakota This is his best performance but if not seen this song is more beautiful if watched the background story version from "I am a singer 2017," it's on Gloria Wu's channel and the subtitles must be turned on so you can understand the part where Dimash is talking.

@@giovannigio3764 Yes, he is Terry Lins adopted son and Han Hong adopted him as his mom. I believe there was a show both Terry and Han Hong were on and when Dimash told her Terry was his adopted father she about flipped out. It was funny. Dimash and Terry are close friends that bonded duriing Singer 2917 when Terry Lin supported Dimash who was in a new country, different culture and could not understand the language. It is a long and difficult process for him, but he is learning Mandarin bit by bit. English, while difficult with his accent, is a little easier for him to learn. He is learning both side by side. He learned if he could not speak Mandarin, English was a good second language in China. Plus, God willing and the politicians don't kill us all, he will be coming to the states for more studies and to perform. I was lucky enough to see my first live Dimash concert in New York where he had his first ever USA Concert. It was heaven.

Everything everyone said about the Cable Car accident and that Han Hong adopted the 2 year old boy is on point. I just want to add that also Han Hong came to really like Dimash during the Singer Series and she calls him her 2nd adopted son. Dimash is so endearing that even people who come into contact with him professionally seem to attach themselves to him in an emotional way. Many of the singers on that show in China have become close to Dimash. Terry Lin also is gained the nickname Papa Lin by Dimash and they are close. Jam Hsiao and Dimash are like brothers. And Li Jian went out of his way to buy Dimash this super expensive Chinese medicine when he lost his voice on the show. And, He referred to Dimash as his little nephew. All his fans are protective over Dimash as well. It's interesting that he has that effect on all of us

Also Li Jian said that every performance in the competition is a piece of fine art. He was the youngest one and far away from his family. He looked very vulnerable at a time. Plus his loving personally hard to resist. So many of them felt some maternal/paternal effect.

Thank you for your reaction to one of Dimash's staple songs and performances! I love that you don't look at his performance only from the professional, technical side, but you engage emotionally and take the viewers throughout your experience. You are spot on about the dual meaning of daybreak. The other comments tell the backstory of the song and direct you to Gloria Wu's video about its performance on I am a Singer. This is one of Dimash's songs, where you experience fully the performance, when you know the backstory. The others are Daididau, Late Autumn (Autumn Strong), Samaltau, Kusni Korlan, Karatorgai, Karagym-ai.

Nina there are some songs, this is one, "Autumn Strong" & "Daiddau" are others, that you really need to understand the Back-stories Before you react. Otherwise you're missing the fact that the song is the story of a boy loosing his parents before his eyes. The incredible emotion (that only Dimash can do justice to) is the cry of a child for his mother and father. You need to either watch the Gloria Wu versions which includes which include the Back-stories or Google the Back-stories before reacting. It's only then that you will fully understand what an incredible storyteller Dimash is, and why the "Dears" shower him with flowers everywhere he goes. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍
