I think he did a wonderful job, I just would have softened it a touch. What he was doing was *technically* perfect, I was just chucking my two cents in (hence the reason I call it a "controversial statement alert") :)

Hey Al, thanks for your comment! I totally understand they must have had to hit the song note for note, and it was absolutely perfect what he was doing, I just thought i'd give my two cents (hence the "controversial statement" alert haha!)

just to add, both of them were invited (not just mori) to meet with will and alan but darren couldn't make it since he was still in China at the time because of his T.V guestings, interviews, photoshoots, performance, prior commitments there.

I agree, it's like she was custom built for Disney! You can hear the tiniest echoes of the cracks over phrases with an "oh" sound, most notably the world "whole" (try 2m05s on the original video to hear what I mean)

I'm not saying they needed to sing it like a pop song, just soften it a tiny touch so it sounds more conversational. Open two tabs, and put the original Brad Kane perfomance and this one side by side and hopefully you'll hear what I mean. Please please PLEASE take into account how many times I said he is great and how he did a great job, I don't want anyone to think I didn't rate his performance, because he smashed it, I was just giving my opinion as a coach. I don't think it has anything to do with our accents, you can overpronounce in any accent, and underpronounce.

Firstly, I didn't say that you said "like a pop song", 'coz I was just repeating what the Disney people told Darren, and Alan Menken (the composer) approved that before they recorded the OST promotion. And us Pilipinos are very familiar with the song because the original was made by Brad Kane and our very own Lea Salonga who was a hit in the UK when she did the very first Miss Saigon back then. Secondly, I really appreciated your reactions, in fact I even thanked you at the end of my comment. And Thirdly, I didn't say anything about "accent", I did say "diction", it's two different words. As far as know, when one is singing, what you hear is the melody and diction, not accent. Accent is the intonation and Diction is the pronunciation. I didn't bash you coach I even appreciated you. @@SSTVocalCoach Ahhh no problem just chill out, I do understand your sentiments 'coz you're not only a Vocal Coach but also a Vlogger and Reactor and its somewhat tiring on your part. I truly admire your appreciations on Pilipino Singers, especially on vocal technicalities. FYI, Pilipino singers just rely on their God given talent without the help of a Vocal Coach not because they don't want to but because it's costly to hire one. That's why all the Pilipino singers on YT are pure talents and they learn and hone it thru constant practice especially on Videoke (karaoke). Another thing, in the Philippines, AutoTune is not used even in Studio or Concert, it's kinda taboo, 'coz its "Cheating". If a prospective singer/s is discovered using Autotune, that'll be the end of his/her career. Tnx again Bro.
