Such a powerful song about domestic abuse sang by the embodiment of mother earth and backed up by an actual angel!

I'm glad, that you wrote about, what this song is about. It's sometimes frightening, that many people didn't get that this is a song about domestic violence, because it is performed so beautifully.

@@i_am_m3384 I'm always struck by the drastic dichotomy of this piece. Such a beautiful angelic sounding song about such a dark subject. Aurora is quite the bold artist.

@@todradmaker4297 Well, I think that represents the main character's denial of the situation (and the denial that many women have when living in a violent relationship). Pay attention to how she sings the words "Love is wild"... it reflects that denial... even after all the violence the character suffered... it happened because love is wild...

It is not about domestic abuse, Aurora said it's a tragic love story, on a valentine's day show/interview, and followed it with murder song in several live performances. She wouldn't call domestic violence a sad true love story.

Look at how Silja is looking at Aurora... Aurora likes to play with the tempo and timeing, so my guess is that Silja is looking for "clues". Silja and Aurora had worked so much togheter, so they developed a "7th sense" between them. I miss Silja..... No disrespect to her new backupsingers.

Aurora is an endlessly fascinating individual. An amazing combination of opposites, delicate but also very strong, naive but wise at the same time, innocent but risque on occasions, serious yet hilarious as well, both introspective and capable of being outwardly exuberant. Always a true, unique, precious individual.

The thing about Aurora is her level of commitment. In this, as so many of her performances, she IS the song, no separation of mind from body. That is why it is so powerful. With some songs the factor is joy. You see her having fun, especially to a live audience with a more up beat song. She is IN her audience, emotionally, a high level of empathy.

There are not enough words in the universe to describe the utter beauty of Aurora. She is etheral, fairy like, just absolutely wonderful. I seen her preform live in March of this year. It was such a special moment, a venue of 1000 people and i have never been in such a respectful, quiet crowd. Every single person was just mesmerized by her. I also got to meet her after the show, and she is exactly what we see online. Sweet, genuine, loving and kind. She took time to speak to all who were waiting for her. Aurora is a gift to humanity 💜

I return to this performance often. It's one of those rare ones from any artist where you listen in awe that it is live and can't find a single decision made you'd change, never mind the awesomeness of actually executing it. Another one that comes to mind is Chris Cornell's version of "Nothing Compares 2 You" . . . these performances are like movies you can watch over and over. Mesmerizing.

Thank you for a great reaction. Here are 2 recommendations for future Aurora reactions, first one is from back in 2016 and it is a pure a cappella performance with 3 of her band members: Through The Eyes of a Child and this particular video is called Vevo UK Lift. The next one is from late January 2022 and is a video that was praised by 3 other vocal coaches, it is the song "Everything Matters" from her latest Jan 2022 album and it is featuring French singer/songwriter Pomme (Claire Pommet), and they are both performing it live together. The video is called Aurora x Pomme Live on Rhythm by Modzik.

@@madkow007 Yeah, it is incredible, and I love one of the top comments of the video: "A 19-year-old girl without any prior professional music background did this. She wrote the lyrics, composed the melody, sang the song in the purest way that humans expected to connect with: no instrument, only the voice alone. It is not only beautiful. it's magic." Have you seen "Warrior" Vevo UK Lift from the same day? It is also very good. Both are so perfect there probably is some post production on the sound (and video), but we know how good her live vocals are, that it is probably minor.

This performance is a masterclass in subtlety and nuance.... The thing is, Aurora clearly isn't doing any of that as an affectation. It's just what her body and face happen to be doing while her mind literally inhabits the soul of the song. It's also an excellent example of how _precise_ her control and articulation are. SO crystal clear and lucid. Yet, not remotely sterile. Her voice often sounds like a bright piercing cobalt blue arctic sky....after months of dreary oppressive grey clouds and rain. There's something very pristine and emotionally cathartic about her voice....

Aurora has always intrigued me. She seems so innocent in her mannerisms and that voice just magnifies that effect. At the same time, her voice has such a level of authority that implies wisdom and experience. Always a treat to see her sing. I do not see anything on here to denote how to suggest a song to be reviewed. On the off chance that you look for suggestions on here, I would like to suggest Lipstick and Cocaine, by Kaz Hawkins. Hey! Always as nice and interesting to hear you analyze a singer of this caliber. Almost all of her songs with Aurora are so unique but this one is a few steps extra. There really is no one who sings like her... Possibly her co-singer Silja Sol then. They must be soul twins. Either way it's heavenly to perfection. The greatness of Silja is how she can follow Aurora when she sings. She can be quite "reckless" in tempo and tone hehe. Joking aside, I suspect they trained together extremely hard. Subscribed. Thank you for this wonderfully detailed reaction and analysis of Aurora singing her song 'It Happened Quiet'. You've given me a much deeper understanding of why I love this performance so much! Please come back to Aurora more. For an upbeat number that she performed in 2018 at a Brazilian radio station with Silja and Fredrik backing her on vocals (and Fredrik on acoustic guitar) ... the recording/video and the performance are stunning. There is a 22 second intro before the song begins, and a one-side interview after. Her song 'Forgotten Love' - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbJ6hNWJztrWoqM.html I had to come back and add this other upbeat number from 2018 at a Paris studio with Silja and Fredrik Vogsborg backing her on vocals and acoustic guitar ... the quality of Aurora's singing is superb. The song is her 'Queendom' - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNyVaJp92dfadmQ.html

Time to revisit Aurora with something a bit different from the 2 songs you've already reacted to. "It Happened Quiet" and "Murder" are very similar, in a folksie and ethereal way. I would suggest "Churchyard" (live at KEKW), "God is Woman" (Arianna Grande cover), "Life on Mars" (David Bowie cover) and "Rasputin" (disco cover) as great examples of other styles that she is great at. "God is Woman" and "Life on Mars" are a great examples of here prowess at both singing and piano playing, "Churchyard" and "Rasputin" examples of more fun live pop performances. All the covers almost become brand new songs, in the spin that she puts on them. In some cases, she surpasses the original, IMO.

Just one I'd love to see you talk about; I've always felt that Georgia Train has a very similar voice and often covers similarly distressing subjects to Aurora, but where Aurora tends to be ethereally tranquil in facing pain, Georgia Train's work (e.g. Needles and Pinches as a solo artist, Trust as part of Bitter Ruin) tends more towards the... other end of the emotional spectrum. I would love to see your response to her work and see if I'm just imagining the similarity there.

and you really need to discover the beautiful voice of susanne sundfor from norway. her songs are really beautiful and this girl can sing, too. one of my favourit songs by her is when the lord. it was the leading title for a documentary about the norwegian fotographer lene marie fossen. i have listened to this song a thousand times and watched the video a thousand times but it crushes my heart evry single time again. this song will leave traces for sure: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9WHeaacyMrRin0.html another beautiful song is the brothel live at cigalle kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m62TdpOW252rk6c.html check her out, she truly deserves it!

There is another great singer from norway, take a listen to Vårvise with Sissel and Sebastian. That was some decades ago though.
