Aurora will always be number 1 for me but I highly recommend Florence and the Machine. Never let me go (Live at royal albert hall) is a good place to start. Florence is a very etherial singer like aurora and also cares deeply about the environment and the world like her.

Yes I don't like to use word like 'Best' to often when listening to my favourite singers. There are so many really good ones, and a lot of them seem to come from the Nordic regions. I must have played her songs hundreds of time.... there's not an awful one among them... and I never think I'll get fed up with them. Aurora is not as well known as many great singers and I dont ever want to take anything away from other great singers ! I do need to check myself because she is so adorable .... but its not just that . Setting her character and looks aside and focussing on just her art, her writing and that beautiful haunting voice. But she might just be the best singer-songwriter-producer in the world! (Will the world miss out on this gem) I remember the Beatles growing up and they were a 'step change' in music ... but they had a few gash songs. Aurora's worst songs are still good! and even the ones that give you pause on release, grow stronger with playing! She's a genius! writing melodies at the age of six (for fun)and full songs from about 9 year old no formal music training. No I'm gonna do it ... at this very moment , right now. Aurora is the best .

Oh "variety is what you get with Aurora! She even has different versions of her own songs and her occasional covers are brilliant! I usually recommend "Through the Eyes of a Child" or "Lucky" live at Nidarosdomen but based on some of your comments I think you'd really enjoy the acoustic version of "It Happened Quiet" (Live at The Current).

Sometimes in life an artist comes along who is special, for me Aurora is one such artist this performance is without doubt the best live performance I’ve ever heard I was spellbound it was if you were right there with her feeling every emotion feeling as if you were actually seeing this playing out in front of your very eyes.what a special talent you don’t coach that it’s a gift and we are blessed to see her.but this is not a one off Aurora delivers this kind of performance every time she sings live her own catalog of music is outstanding delivering time after time songs of such depth and meaning never do you get the same old lyrics and cliches that you find time after time in mainstream music for me she is the essence of what the art of music should be all about a medicine for everyone simply a Genius who cares deeply about life and the world we live in and i for one am blessed to have her music in my life.❤️

So not only is this song incredibly beautiful but it's profoundly sad as well. In an interview Aurora talked about the song saying that; ''it's just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. How can a man kill someone he loves and it happens often in the world. But he doesn't really understand what he did, it's a very complicated story. Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said : 'Ok, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad."
@Einyen

You are correct she is completely immersed in the music like no other. Back then in the first 2 years of her career she did not like to perform, and she used that ability to "escape" the scary place on stage specially here in this huge hall with 8000 people. She never planned to be a singer, she just wanted to write and compose music for herself and maybe for other artists, but her mom convinced her to share her music and her voice. Later years she learned to enjoy it more and engage with the audience, but she can still get lost in the music, she is very empathetic and she lives and breathes music all the time. In a February 2019 article she estimated she had written around 200 songs, just imagine how many she has now after 3.5 years with many lock downs.

Btw she just turned 26 here in June 2022, and she already has 3 full albums and 2 EPs out. She also has done 20+ amazing cover songs like "Life On Mars", "Teardrop", "Across The Universe", "God Is A Woman", "Believer", "Wrecking Ball" etc. etc. 20+ of her unreleased songs are also available here.

Great reaction 🤗 I’ve loved this unique and captivating artist since 2014, she’s my absolute favourite😍 This performance is beautiful and the song very sad. All her three albums are quite different, so I look forward to follow your Aurora journey 💕 Aurora is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer. She plays several instruments like piano, guitar, mandolin and harp (what I know of). She’s born on the 15 of June 1996, she’s from a small place in Os outside of Bergen, and is currently living in her apartment in Bergen 😍 When she was 6 years old she found an electric piano in the attic after her older sister. Because the power button was broken she had to play with only one hand, and she did that for years. She began writing music without lyrics at the age of 6, and with English lyrics at the age of 9. A couple of her songs that she wrote at the age of 9 is some of her most popular songs. They are “Lucky” and “I went too far” Her family didn’t know about her talent until she was about 13 - 14 years old. She’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano.🤩😍 Could you please react to: “Through the eyes of a child” live from Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway) 2017 This is one of her most important songs “Lucky” live from Nidarosdomen 2017 She wrote this song when she was 9 years old, it’s her anti-suicide song ✌️🌍❤️

She is my all-time favorite artist now. That means ALOT for me…that means she just passed Linda Ronstadt, EAGLES, Sade and Fleetwood Mac. I think you’d like “Runaway” at the same show as MURDER SONG(Nobel Prize)……and, “Through The Eyes of a Child” 2 versions….a stripped down version on VEVO… and the other from Nidarosdomen cathedral. Both are incredible that makes me well up. She has many, many great songs. That you may want to be careful because you’ll find yourself falling down the AURORA rabbit hole which I did a few times😆🤣. Generational artist. Great reaction🎼👍🏾❤️

I would recommend Through the Eyes Of A Child live at Nidarosdomen, The Seed (the music video will provide beautiful visuals) and also Aurora joining an amazing group named Wardruna which will also give you a taste of their music: Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (live). For the record, I'm on a mission to call the universe to bring Hua Chenyu and Aurora together for some music, particularly his Giant Deer and her Through the Eyes of a Child. He already has sung one of her songs.

My favorite artist from the time I discovered her be a chance (pretty late as like 1,5 years ago). She has pretty variety of music, different arrangements and music styles. And what is also incredible that she not only sing but write all her music (started when was 6) and lyrics (started from 9 in English) but also coproduce and compose/play on a piano. And everything without formal music education. even her parents did not know about it up to when she was something like 14-15 years . The story how she become a artist is also interesting as she performed in a school + in some moment rented studio for 3 hours to make song for her parents (as she was afraid to perform it :) ). But someone leaked it and she was contacted to sign contract. She said "no" as she only want to make music and did not wanted to be a artist (and i guess afraid to perform). But then her mother said her it would be selfish not to share her music to others. And then she changed her mind and agreed.. She has many great song but i would recommend next "Lucky" live from Nidarosdomen (she started to write this song when was 9). Then maybe something live from KEXP 2018: "All is Soft inside" and "churchyard" Very interesting reaction, thx.

I really loved your reaction, she truly is into this song, thank you for a good 1st reaction!! She's very expressive in every song she sings.. especially this sad love story. She said this song is based on a vivid dream she had about 2 people. Her harmonizer (Guy singing while playing piano is Martin Sjølie)! !! I would like you to react to "Through the eyes of a child" live at Nidarosdomen !! Aurora said ; --> "I just think it's fascinating how people can be the same people, how you and I need oxygen, can have children, need to be embraced, we need food, water, that we smile at us... we need the same things because we are people. And it's just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. How can a man kill someone he loves and it happens often in the world. But he doesn't really understand what he did, it's a very complicated story. I started listening to Aurora several years ago. She has a documentary on her life. that is a lot of fun to watch and get an understanding of who she is. To say that she is unique would be an understatement. In a world with so much "produced" music, she is a breath of fresh air in so many ways. Aurora is not about traditional technique but rather a raw, fairly untrained singer/artist inhabiting a song and creating a genuine soundscape.

@@TheVocalyst You wondered how much out of the box she goes. This song is the acoustic version of Murder Song, the original on the album is very different with almost a club beat to it and much faster pace. If you want to listen privately here is the audio only from her main channel: youtu . be / DpES0dZHF4E She does this often making acoustic versions of her songs that are very different from the original. This song is from her first album, but already on her 2nd EP and 2nd album she plays with a lot more different sounds, and especially on her 3rd album from Jan 2022, in her own words she experiments a lot and is a lot more "playful". Almost every song is a different style or genre, there is an 80s style song, a jazzy love song with like 30s / 40s vibe, an Ennio Morricone inspired song etc. etc. I have seen other singers and voice teachers enjoy the song "Everything Matters" which she sings with French singer "Pomme", here is an amazing live performance with both of them: youtu . be / yX8bYwl9rKc

A very knowledgeable reaction. Aurora has the "triple", amazing voice, brilliant song writing and captivating performance skills. Watch "Through The Eyes Of A Child", "Lucky", "It Happened Quiet" or "Winter Bird" from her masterpiece Nidarosdomen (Trondheim Cathedral) concert from 2017. These performances will melt your heart. Aurora's other stand out performance is her magical HAIK concert from 2019 (filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood, so really in her natural environment). "The River" from the beginning of the concert and "Daydreamer", the final song are the best of the best in this show. Any time spent with Aurora and her music is time very well spent. To cap it off, the songs from her most recent album, released early this year, continue the astounding brilliance of this young artist.

As always voice teachers and trainers tend to focus on technique and singing itself. Nice bonus is when you catch the whole performance including Aurora's movement. My BIG recommendation is to play the whole song again at the end and focus on the lyrics. In Aurora's music it means SOOO much and every song has it's background i.e. free will, love/hate relationship, identity crysis, men's open feelings, global environment etc. A small talk about it at the end of your video will help much and it will distinguish you from the other same kind reactions imho. So thx for reaction, welcome in the world of "warriors and weirdos" ;-)

You are in for a real treat. The maturity you're hearing likely has to do with the fact that she has been writing and singing her own songs for over 10 years at the time of this performance. She moves through the different areas of her voice so beautifully. She occasionally slips into a head voice tone that is as haunting as it is resonant and clear (see the acoustic session version of 'It Happened Quiet'). She's magic. One of my all-time favorite vocalists.

Doesn't really matter how old i am... I love music, and Aurora just makes me love it more. I'd give anything to meet her, if only to thank her for making me more human than i ever thought i could be.

Oh please keep going down the Aurora rabbit hole!! She's absolutely wonderful and her discography is very diverse. Some of my top favorites are "all is Soft Inside", "queendom", "infections of a different kind", "everything matters", "you keep me crawling", and "giving into the love". Of course everything of hers is great, and you really can't go wrong with a live performance from Aurora!

You really couldn't have started your Aurora journey with a better choice. This acoustic performance is out of this world. I'm looking forward to see your next choice. Aurora is a music savant but notice the musical genius' she surrounds herself with. This guitarist melt perfect together with her.

I loved your reaction. Aurora is pretty special. Her songs are all different and each shows off one or another aspect of this complex person. All of the suggestions below are excellent. I would add some at other ends of the spectrum. Apple Tree, Exist for Love, and Cure for Me show off some of her range. For all three songs I would go with the music video. They are all works of art in themselves. Oh, and Churchyard live at KEXP.

Well then, I think we're going to get more of a reaction on Aurora here. You seem to have been a bit captivated :) It's not the song I would have started with, it was a little hard for me to like because of a very variable melody... until I ended up loving it. But you saw the main characteristics of the arstite (you know this field perfectly)... and yet, she keeps many surprises in her pocket, I promise. I learned a few more things from your reaction. And the display of your emotions on your face while listening were very significant. Keep exploring Aurora's world. As long as the sound is well captured, I think nothing will disappoint you. None of her songs are trite, even when they are more 'classic'. And it is also interesting to listen to different versions of her songs. Most of the time her live performances are the most beautiful versions to see (which is pretty much what your channel is all about). But some of the music videos are really worth seeing (the most poignant one I think is "the river") Anyway, it seems to me that the Aurora fan community is quite large and receptive to the Aurora reacts.

I am very glad that someone else has discovered Aurora, she transports herself and transports you with her music, it is a simply magical feeling at least for me. I hope you continue reacting to her, Maybe you could watch Under the water in the wave stage concert, there is soft inside in Kexp concert, the seed in the Haik concert, trought the eyes of a child in Nidarosdomen, and well the list is really long haha. Thanks for your nice reaction🙂

LOve your reaction Vocalyst! Interesting to hear the words, the tones, anew, with 'your glasses' on, you noting details that I've never noticed on my own. You might appreciate to know that she was very nervous for doing this concert, her first for such a big audience plus 100 million people watching it on TV. Which song next? Lots of good recommendations below, Aurora herself have said that 'Runaway' is a good place to start. I prefer the music video of that one though many favor the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert version. Another interesting fact about her music is that you will find many versions of most of her songs in the way they are performed, and or who they are performed with --> from acapella, to acoustic, to a band, to a full philharmonic orchestra ... plus that she performs her songs different every time.

As I understand it, she wrote this song while still in school. Its about an incident that was all over the news about a person who, killed his wife or daughter as a mercy killing. She had contracted a disease that would have been incurable and would be a very painful hellish death. They tried him for murder.

@@kvnkaveman interesting. I read an interview with her that said she wrote it at18 she had heard the story on the radio of the event and it affected her so deeply she had to imagine in her own mind what it was like and how these 2 people felt. She said she coudnt get it out of her mind and it was consuming her so she wrote the song to get the 2 people she had imagined out of her head onto paper.

If I may, I would recommend listening to NPR Tiny Desk Concert versions of any of the artists you would like to feature in your channel in the future, if one is available. Pretty much every single video they have for any artist is the best version of their signing I've encountered, and it goes doubly so for Aurora.
