OMG! That was amazing. I’ve seen-literally-hundreds of reactions to this performance and this is one of the best. Nobody has ever brought up the term “Caprino” before, not even the excellent Italian Vocal Coaches like Roberto Delli Carri who has one of the absolute best breakdowns of Dimash’s vocal techniques in this song. Roberto duplicated the sound on the spot, but even he didn’t know what it was called. I love how much you love talking about singing, it’s so exhilarating to watch. People are going to suggest lots of Dimash songs for you to do next, but if you’re interested in seeing him do other vocal techniques that you haven’t seen yet I’d suggest “Hello” from the Singer, “Your Love” or “Know” New Wave performance at Sochi & if you really want to get your mind blown then do “Know” from the Arnau Tour in the same video. This was another very enjoyable reaction. This was his 2018 guest performance at the New Wave competition held annually since 2002 at the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash and member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts. Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop". We use it too when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh KZfaqr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique, called 'komeymen aytu'. You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah'. I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. This competition was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. He invited Dimash to perform and it was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has been collaborating with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him.

Krutoy has written songs specifically for Dimash "Ogni Prieto"& "Love of Tired Swans" Dimash also performs several Krutoy classics most of which Lara Fabian was the lyricist "Know" "Your Love" & "Madamoiselle Hyde" BTW, "Sinful Passion" was a 1980's hit for the Kazakh-Russian band "Studio A" & they were playing behind him in this performance. His phrasing is also fantastic! His vocal approach is very lyrical! He seamlessly weaves together legato and staccato lines - WOW! As a guitarist, I can totally hear this - or on a trumpet. And his breath control! And perfect 'hum-singing'! WTF is that flutter - some modal thing?! Are those semitones he sung - like an Eastern scale or something?! Okay, FVM, in addition to your own gorgeous voice and how adorable you are, your reactions to Dimash are the best. When he began the song (sorry, I don't mean to be vulgar but soooo hot!) your face was like, uh-uh, that's what I'm talking about, lol. That little Kazakh ethnic bit, before the vocal run, is from a traditional funeral song that Kazakh women sing - or so I read. You mentioned yodel and another word as it vibrates faster (can't recall) and, it seems to me (just a music lover) it's the same style as traditional Arab and Indian style singing, which I love and, of course, Dimash kills it. I'd love to hear him do more of that. With his amazing language abilities, he could probably sing in Hindi and Arabic! Nothing would surprise me with Dimash.

Here is a little inside information I did not see mentioned in the comments section. This ties his "yodel" technique to this performance. The band playing with Dimash is "A-Studio." The song "Sinful Passion" is their original song. Their original singer that recorded the song passed away years ago. From my limited understanding, that yodel technique is part of Dimash's culture. It is often used at funerals as a show of respect. This was Dimash paying his respects to the original singer and the band. You can find the original version of the song on KZfaq. It is well worth a listen, as it is more of a pop song and sounds very different from the Dimash version. It shows the brilliance of Dimash in restructuring this song to match his voice.
