Sydnie Christmas is a talented 28-year-old singer from Kent who captivated audiences and judges alike on Britain's Got Talent 2024 with her soulful performances and powerful voice. Earning a Golden Buzzer from Amanda Holden for her stunning rendition of "My Way," Sydnie advanced directly to the live shows, showcasing her remarkable talent and emotional depth. With a background in musical theatre and cruise ship performances, including notable roles in "Grease" and "Starlight Express," Sydnie has long pursued her dream of a leading role in the West End. Despite facing challenges and criticism, her journey on Britain's Got Talent highlights her resilience and passion for music, earning her a growing fan base and critical acclaim
"My Way" is an iconic song popularized by Frank Sinatra in 1969, known for its powerful lyrics and stirring melody. The English lyrics were eritten by Paul Anka, who adapted the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Claude François and Jacques Revaux, "My Way" reflects on a life lived on one's own terms, embracing personal choices and independence. The song became Sinatra's signature tune, praised for its introspective and defiant tone, making it a favourite at concerts and events. Its timeless appeal has led to numerous covers by artists across different genres, further cementing its status as a classic
"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" is a timeless classic originally performed by Judy Garland in the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz." Composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg, this song captures the longing for a better, brighter place "somewhere over the rainbow," symbolizing hope and dreams beyond the horizon . Its poignant melody and heartfelt lyrics have made it one of the most enduring songs in American music history, covered by numerous artists across various genres. The song's emotional resonance and universal appeal continue to inspire listeners worldwide, making it a staple in both popular culture and musical heritage

In 62 years of living and nearly 20 years of instrumental and vocal music performance, I have to truly say that Sydnie is one of the top 10 vocalists I've ever heard. When she gets her big, starring role on the West End, I will fly to the UK for the first time in my life, just to see her.

The very first time I heard her when she said,” Hallowwww!” during her audition song “tomorrow” , I was like “Jesus who is this girl?” I was not expecting that heavy Brit accent to come out of her sweet pretty face. The clarity and control in her voice is extremely powerful. She delivered the vocals tho. The charisma and posture on the stage is also otherworldly. She is a total package and i think we can call her a star and icon already. She is shining btw, even her eyes is also story telling us which is a part of a being an artist. In fact, it's my all time favorite vocal performance on any talent show---EVER! Humble, self-deprecating, incredibly funny, and beutiful inside and out. My thoughts on her singing...and i say this as a guy who grew up around singing with my mom singing professionally. The three songs sung by Miss Christmas for BGT are by FAR...my most favorite versions of those iconic songs ever sung. I sat up the other night thinking about what other songs I'd love to hear her sing...from Alphavilles "Forever Young" to The Eagles "Desperado" to Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"...and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"...and i started making a list to suggest to her ...and ill be damned if it wasnt well over 200 iconic songs on my list. I immediately stopped creating the list after seeing how big it was getting. Her voice is PERFECT. It absolutely resonates right through me at my core. Crazy good. The perfect pitch, sniper control, and buttery tonal variations are perfect. I can't get enough of her singing. I'm not at all embarrassed about the number of times I've listened to her 3 songs she sang on BGT. My only problem now is...How do we get her to sing the 5,000 songs in my musical index???❤ Dusty Springfield "You Don't Own Me"❤

@jim99west46
@jim99west46 6 күн бұрын
It’s easy. Musical theater cast is character based performance in a relatively medium or small venue. She is obviously too talented to play someone else.She is so nuclear powerful that she needed a huge venue and crowd to turn her power loose! Those casting directors didn’t know what she was capable of and agents who turned her down have probably hung themselves by now lol.

Beth - About that shift you point out on "DARE" (in "that you dare to dream..."), where the vowel opens to an AH sound: This is one of several places in all three of Sydnie's BGT performances where (to my ear, anyway) she channels Barbra Streisand. Do you hear it? Other Streisand moments I noticed included: in "Tomorrow," the second line "Bet your bottom dollar"; and, in "My Way," the way she fairly chomped on that sound "choo" in "more than I could CHEW." For just those fleeting moments, I could see Barbra right there, in her early twenties, at the mic with Sydnie. Of course I hear other greats as well -- Judy Garland and Liza Minelli and some others mentioned in other comments. I love that Sydnie isn't imitating anyone, but the community of great singers shines through her.

Unfortunately when you audition for shows you are given a bit of a script and asked to act a part. They don't say come in and sing a song. Probably why she is largely unknown for her singing and arrangement abilities. When you've been knocked back a few times you start to lose belief in yourself.

Interesting that you referenced Never Enough in The Greatest Showman, as the original singer of Never Enough, Loren Allred, is the 1 who put this version of Over The Rainbow together earlier this year. If you go back to Sydnie’s audition, this song plays in the background after she sings Tomorrow.

One thing I've noticed over the years. BGT and X Factor both have had vocal coaches that are at the top of the game. Sydnie comments in one of her interviews about how her BGT coach elevated her vocal abilities. I'm not taking anything away from her massively wonderful performance. Not at all. No coach can get me to sing equally as well. She has the understanding and ability. But, her coach clearly made those two performances possible. She also commented that now that she's won all that money, she can afford the coaching she needs to achieve the perfection she seeks. Oh yes. Great things are coming for her in the future as much improvement over her stellar voice unfolds. BTW, love your vids. You're a class act.

@@charlesdawson4852 That was not my intent. Furthermore, I "tried" nothing of the sort. To better understand my intent look up Sam Bailey on the X Factor. All of her performances. She has a wonderful talent. However, one can plainly see the progression in the power and beauty of her voice under the tutelage of her X Factor coach. Her coach didn't give that talent to her. Her coach guided her to releasing her nearly full potential. Sydnie needed the guidance before her audition. She got some after her audition. And the improvement in her final two performances was breathtaking as a result. There is a difference between not understanding what someone says, and passing judgement on what you don't understand. So, if you have a question then ask it. I must add that it irks me to have such negativity bloviated on this lovely lady's channel. Please think twice, out of respect, before replying.

It's a matter of taste i suppose? I liked the My Way cover best. For me Eva Cassidy now owns Rainbow?

@@mikeb7379 Same here... seeing someone say they weren't a fan of the "My Way" performance perplexes me. It's the most impressive, and closest to flawless of the three, imo. All three are great of course, but "My Way" is my personal fave.

@@mikeb7379 will check it out. I am a bit older and the original my way just is amazing. I did like her cover but of her 3 performances my way wasn't her best. I liked the arrangement and she can do anything and breathes new life into the classics. Thank you for sharing your opinion. It is appreciated

I would say Loren Allred also. But she doesn't have the emotional delivery that Sydnie has.

Heather Alexander March of Cambreadth? The version from the album Midsummer. I should have thought of this earlier in the month. She is now known as Alexander James Allen, But she left all of her music under Heather Alexander.

No offence intended, Beth, but I think an extraneous ‘n’ has crept into your script - “Syndnie Christmas”. 🤔🤫

Jeez , I get that you’re a vocal coach but come on , why not make a couple of interruptions initially and then go back in and dissect it later.
