BTS literally has a song for EVERY genre so it's impossible to judge BTS from one song.

BTS are not your typical K Pop group. Yes they do pop songs but they pretty much do most genres from hip hop(they have three of the best rappers) to EDM, R&B, Ballads, one of the vocalists is into Jazz, many of their songs have lyrics that are deeply meaningful, tackling issues such as depression, anxiety, social class, pressure on youth, loving yourself, bullying. They have nearly a 50 million strong fan base called Army ranging from children to people in their eighties! Both men and women from all stages of life, school children to professionals, lawyers and university lecturers. They are as diverse as BTS’s music. Two are currently serving in the South Korean military currently in their mandatory enlistment and a third one about to enter with the rest following soon. They will rejoin as a group again in 2025. This last year those not yet in the military have been doing solo projects like Jimin’s you heard today. All four vocalists have different timbres, three tenors one baritone and favour different types of music. When they sing together they are powerful. I would recommend ‘Black Swan,’ an early song of theirs called ‘Let me know,’ ‘The truth untold,’ ‘Fake love,’ ‘Mic drop,’and any of their Cyphers’ any of their Japanese songs such as ‘Let go’. English songs Mt favourite Butter and Permission to dance both pop songs. One of personal favourites ‘Spring Day’ is a classic! With over 300 songs to choose from it’s really hard to pick so good luck. 💜

Jimin’s song “Lie” is musically exciting. It’s an amazing song.

Jimin's album is about his emotions and feelings during the pandemic and how lost and isolated he felt without the contact with the fans, the ARMY. He drank more than was good for him and slowly realized he was sinking deeper into depression. He felt that the only people who would understand were his fellow BTS members, but he thought they were already burdened with their own struggles and chose to deal with this by himself. He broke down in a virtual televised concert when he found himself surrounded by tons of monitors with the voices and faces of fans, he had not realized how much he had missed interacting with them and how lonely he had become. There is a hidden track on the album called Letter, which is a love song dedicated to the fans. It is quite touching and sincere, Jimin is a very empathic and sweet man, who always puts others first and is the emotional anchor and every one's favorite comfort person within BTS. He also is an incorrigible flirt with literally everyone and as the now infamous saying goes "once you Jim-in you can't Jim-out".

As everyone mentioned, BTS Festa Room Live is the best compilation to give you a taste. BTS debuted in 2013 and has released 9 albums since then. This does not include compilation albums, Japanese albums, or their recent solo works. They cover a wide range of genres as a group. Since members have begun their mandatory military enlistments, individual members have taken the opportunity to release their first solo works (Jimin's Like Crazy) that shows their own personal style. My dudes....Jimin is 1/7 of BTS. There are 3 rappers & 4 vocalists so 7 different Artists within BTS as a group. They're creators/producers/songwriters etc so they pretty much experiment with sounds, beats, music overall which expands into different genres. They debuted in 2013 and we recently celebrated their 10th Anniversary just a couple of months ago. Their discography is massive to say the least. This is currently chapter 2 for BTS as They're taking a break from group projects to focus on their individual endeavors/projects, on themselves, various solo projects etc. There's so much about them that I cannot fit in this comment because it'll be beyond even a series of novels...lol...their book was published recently, but that's a whole other story. Definitely check out their music from the early years and make your way to their more recent works...whether starting with group projects, collaborations, solo projects...whatever order is up to you. Just know that you're barely scratching the surface of who BTS are as a group through just their music because they go way beyond that. I recommend watching an introduction video or two just to get you caught up to date and get an idea of who BTS are. Like Crazy is a masterpiece.

This track is from Jimin's individual album FACE, which is a chrono of the emotional rollercoaster he went through during the pandemic when their Map of the Soul world tour was canceled and isolation was imposed. The intent is for the tracks of album itself to be listened in order. Like Crazy and Set Me Free Pt2 (title homage to a bandmate track) were released with MVs. Set Me Free Pt2 is a totally different experience visually and vocally from Like Crazy and might be of interest. I also recommend checking out RM's Wild Flower from his Indigo album and BTS's Take Two live performance. Enjoy.

Well it's going to be complicated to explain, but Kpop is not a genre, it is an industry. It holds a variety of genres, mostly Hip-hop, EDM, Pop, RnB and sometimes even Rock, but what makes it Kpop is the whole audio-visual package and the culture from which it originates. It was inspired by American music genres, but it is anchored in a strongly Korean system that follows the rules of the Korean music industry. It's very much aesthetic-oriented, with great dance numbers, elaborate music videos and artists that are called "idols" because they must strive to achieve perfection in every aspect of their performance (whether it be on or off stage). Kpop is not the same thing as Korean Pop(ular music), and even in their own country it is still considered a sort of a niche "genre"/"industry." It's not taken as seriously as it should be because, as I said, it is aesthetic-oriented and not focused on artistry. However, BTS happens to be sort of an anomaly in Kpop, not only because they went against the Kpop industry while also having been created in it, but also because they have their own unique sound. This last point is something that their younger label mates (TXT, Enhypen, Lesserafim and NewJeans) have in common with them and is very much something that their company ( a formerly indie label that BTS's popularity propelled to new heights) takes pride in. However, BTS really is what you could call a genre of their own. They make music that can either be or combine a variety of genres. Individuality, authenticity and originality are what drives their music. They write music based on their own personal experiences and tend to have album series that follow a particular part of their life or sheds light on a certain aspect of their life. Music is therapy for them, and funnily enough, it is also for the fans, which they are very conscious of. They are also one of the few groups that actually does write and compose their own songs, and it's something that their popularity has pushed others to emulate.

This song is not Kpop. Kpop is an industry by the way, not a genre. This song is about escapism. Running away to escape from one's pain. The club in the mv is the perfect metaphor for escapism. But he didnt quite escape it. MUD in a dream is the symbolism for being stuck in a rut. The whole MV takes place in a dreamscape. BTS use a lot of symbolism for their content.

This is the most pop-py song on the album. His album, FACE, takes us through how he was feeling during Covid and somewhat follows the stages of grief. He's been very open that he was drinking pretty heavily for part of it (it's part of the culture, so wasn't as much of a red flag) and thought he was having fun and was happy. He eventually realized that he was really just masking what was really going on with himself emotionally. So yes, there are darker things happening here - the mud in particular is really symbolic. I found it to be a powerful album and have so much respect for the work he did personally to come out the other side of struggling as well as the work he did with his music. The thing you have to remember is that K-Pop is an industry and not a genre. BTS runs the gamut of genres as do some other groups. If you want another MV from this album that sounds completely different, that would be "Set Me Free Pt 2," which is the last track of the album. For hip-hop, I'd go with Agust-D's trilogy - Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala. His name in BTS is Suga, he uses Agust-D for solo work. But really, you can't go wrong with any of the rappers from the group. RM has amazing wordplay, Suga is raw and brutally honest, and J-Hope is intense. A good performance of just the three of them is Outro: Tear. For the vocal line (Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, and V), I'd go with the stage mix of The Truth Untold or Your Eyes Tell (one of my favorites). Full group all together - for pop you can go with the English trio of songs. If you want to go deeper, I'd suggest Black Swan, ON, Mic Drop, Blood Sweat and Tears... ack, I'm going on and on. Thank you for the reaction. Jimin is famous for the unique timbre of his voice and also he is an amazing dancer. Jimin's first solo album Face has 6 tracks, Face-off, Interlude:Dive, Like Crazy (Korean version), Alone, Set Me Free Pt.2, and Like Crazy (English version). The songs are about what he went through during the pandemic after their world tour had been canceled abruptly. So, basically the album Face is his life story during the pandemic. For Jimin, performing on stage is the most important thing in his life. But Covid took it all away from him. He said at first he tried to deny the reality he was FACING but started to realize that he had to make changes. So he wrote the songs with a small number of people he worked with at the company. The tracks are chronologically ordered and Jimin has a hand in every corner of the writing, producing, creating MVs, and choreography, etc. The Korean version Like Crazy achieved the first BB Hot 100 No. 1, and No. 1 debut as a solo Korean song without any payola or any kind of huge promotions. Hope you can check out Jiimin's other songs, too. His pre-release song, Set Me Free Pt.2 is quite different from Like Crazy. Some of the old Jimin songs are Lie, Serendipity, Filter, and Promise and some recent songs on Face and Angel Pt.1, which is an OST of the movie Fast and Fury. BTS has a huge discography. Like Crazy is one of Jimin's most recent solos, but if you want to hear a more sophisticated song that really showcases his vocal chops, I recommend Lie, a Jimin solo track from BTS's 2016 Wings album.

"Like Crasy" is not a typical kpop song, like none of the other songs on this wonderful album. The more we listen to FACE and the more we like it, there is so much musical richness in each of its songs, this album is exceptional in every way but it cannot be reduced to kpop because it is definitely not inspired by it 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

Set Me Free pt.2 is a another great Song by Jimin if you want somthing completely different, but still Jimin. Also his hidden Track "Letter" really shows off his delicate vocals. As for BTS songs, they do EVERYTHING and have a wide spectrum. Some famous ones are definitely IDOL, Blood, Sweat & Tears or Fake Love. They have a wide range. Their spectrum is amazing, here are some of my faves you guys should definitely check out: Pied Piper, Magic Shop, Home, Black Swan, UGH!, 2!3!, Butterfly, RUN BTS, RUN, House Of Cards, Louder Than Bombs, Rain, Tomorrow, Embarressed, Converse High, Spine Breaker, 134340, Am I Wrong, Tear, Best Of Me, Save Me, I Need You... etc. I honestly don't really wanna recommend their newer English Tracks (apart from Dynamite), although they made them famous around the world, as in my opinion they have the least personality and their involvement was minimal. Those tracks are not as unique and personal as their past works. BTS is doing most of their production and Song writing themselves with the help of in house producers, so their Songs usually deal with topics that were bothering them, which range from political, societial, personal and mental health problems. I also recommend each members solo works to see their unique colors. Everyone is outstanding on its own. Jimin is my favorite though, his voice is so unique, just like his whole persona.

I only started listening to BTS a few months ago because I always thought they weren't going to be for me but I fell in love with them instantly. They're not like any group you've ever seen they literally do everything and every genre just pure talent and their lyrics are always meaningful and inspiring. Not to mention that they're genuinely good people who truly care about their fans and about each other. They're also hilarious just full time comedians there's never a dull moment with them you're in for a treat 💜💜💜

Serendipity is a wonderful song by Jimin.

You could see the other side of Jimin with "Set me Free pt. 2" - very different sound, story, and emotions. Other than that, each of the more than 300 BTS songs has a different sound and style. However, since the group has strong hip-hop roots, you will find a lot of hip-hop-inspired songs. Highly recommended solo songs are Wild Flower (RM), Arson(j-hope), and Deachwita/ Heageum (Suga). The latter was composed with the help of traditional instruments.

What's so fun about BTS is that they started as a rap orientated group but have explored many genres. Some of my favorites are: Paradise(funky), louder than bombs(sounds like a james bond soundtrack), 13430 (has a lovely samba flute on the track) Remedy and lie are songs with a almost theatrical sound. Black swan has a beautiful orchestral version that everybody should listen to. All these styles and their lyricism is never lacking. what more could a music lover ask for.

K-pop is a genre if you consider the entirety of American pop a genre since the abbreviation simply means "Korean pop" which, like everywhere else, is divided into genres. There's also the fact that most of what foreigners perceive as K-pop is "idol music" which doesn't include the rock, indie, hip hop, etc. realms of popular Korean music. BTS' discography from 2013 til present spans over 400+ songs touching most genres from Latin to neosoul to hip hop. Especially with their solo projects, they've shown versatility that's geberally unheard of. When you say that Like Crazy is what you expected, you come at it from an American perspective but for Jimin himself, this is a new sound he explored. His solo album is a journey through his experiences during the pandemic - he wrote the lyrics and worked with their in-house producers (of 10+ years) on the rest. All members of BTS have been producing, composing, writing lyrics, two of them even before becoming the group. That is basically their "selling point", artistic authenticity. I guess for song recommendation, Black Swan and Blood, Sweat & Tears are thematically impressive. One talks about losing one's passion as an artist and the triumph over it, the other is about temptation drawing oneself toward chaos and obsession. All of their albums deliver a concept that grew up with them, so school, youth, wandering adulthood, self-realization, artistic fears and heights have all been discussed in some way during their career.

I wanna recommend Jimin’s Face off. It is also masterpiece!

BTS has a wide variety of genre. They also sing in Japanese and those songs are amazing. All 7 can do some cross over from rap to vocals, except maybe Jin. He is known for his silver voice. JimIn’s voice is almost ethereal and so pleasing to listen to. JK has perfect pitch. V lives jazz and the slower songs. JHope does both rap and singing. RM is a genius and also does rap and singing. Suga wraps and he can spit! Beyond their vocal talents they write the most wonderful in depth lyrics and are excellent at wordplay and double meanings. Honestly, I think like crazy does not sound like an average kpop song 😅 it’s very unique as is jimin’s entire discography and concepts he pursues 🙆🏻‍♀️ I sometimes think that he writes his songs (or participates in writing) with the performance in mind 😭 yeah just wanted to say to react to his Lie, Serendipity and Filter ☺️ (you will be shocked by the range and the quality)

This song has a dark undercurrent. Jimin wrote it during the pandemic. During a very depressed phase of his life. The song is like a fantasy of him being able to leave his apartment and just enjoy a night out without any cares or worries. Unfortunately, he cannot escape the darkness and returns to reality at the end.

Kpop is an industry, a package that revolves around clothing, makeup, food. BTS has transcended that above all because of its versatility and diversity of musical genres. Can you please react to Jimin's first solo song "Lie"?? It's totally different from "kpop genre"

The whole album is about his feelings, what was going on in his head, feeling he'd lost everything, lost friends all due to covid. And he watched the film 'Crazy' quite a lot. He even freely admit's due to covid he was drinking more than usual. He's the biggest perfectist within BTS and put's himself and his skills down a lot. What doesn't help is that fact even now there are people who loundly say he can't sing.

If you want an overview of BTS, I would say their Festa Room Live or Tiny Desk would be a great start. Their discography is huge with songs in every genre. Have fun!!
