Hey guys, I love making tutorials and helping people out so here's a long winded scratch tutorial where I cover some new school scratching styles with involve cutting vocals in a sick manner, like that of the B4B Russia guys, my UK homies, etc. Anyway, I give props to Chinmachine and WSQ as they're quite dope.
Chinmachine - / chinmachine
WSQ - / wsqmusic
Beat is off Lorn Looper #8 and the record used is Grasshopper Breaks - Volume 3
Thanks for watching!

my friends, I started to working on these scratchs by chance, since i've been watch WSQ & chinmachine style. Here, you make me a real lesson !!! I been working the phrasing (sai-what 'what', what-sai, sai-whatwhat). it's still hard to me be fast. Do you have any tips to start slowly? One of the most helpfull tutorial on modern scratch ever seen. Thanks you men! Love From Belgium ;)

Hey man. I love your videos. because of you have I have gotten really inspired and I have been cutt'n for about 5 months now. Do you think you could send me the rip of that grasshopper breaks? Also, I had a question about that "say what" pattern. Do you raise the pitch when you do those fast vocal phrasing patterns? I noticed, in D-styles video that right before he gets into his "say what" routine, he slaps the pitch on his turntable as high as it will go. I think so that the sample plays as soon as he pulls the record back without him needing to give it a nudge?

Great vid! You mention the S Science records. They are super hard to find, at least the old ones...are they available digitally? What record are you using for this video, I thought that you mentioned it was grasshopper breaks, but it's able to be ultra pitched? I'm pretty new to ultra pitch, I only own Enter the Scratch Game. I don't really like the vocal samples on it though, I'd like to get the older ones. Thanks for putting this up. Gonna have a go at some of these techniques!

What is the music style called? I want to do this when creating turntablism hooks. by using acapellas from a variety of floets. A floet is somebody who delivers his rhymes in a way that flows and has rhythm. I like floet better than rapper because too much of the time, the term rapping gets a criminal and violent connotation. When some people think of rap, they think of violence & misogyny. Too often, When people think of DJ, they think of a computer dude that just stands while simply playing music. So that's why I call scratch DJ's "Wheels of Chill Guys". This was a great tutorial.

With a stab, the sound was not "pitch deformed"? I mean, it is not to fast to move between the 2 sound? When i move betwneen "say" and "what" with a forward, i have the impression to backing fast the "Say" but the "what" is slow. Or i'm just to slow... I will continue to look at your scratch and watch in slow motion -_- You're still fast! I would like to know the place for the first video that I'll upload. I better understood the movement of your tears, honestly thank you for helping me;)

Alot of modern scratchers sound the same I agree, but it's not due to modern scratch techniques, its due to the modern scratch community who are obsessed with technique. For instance here when Dopez is freestyling, he is using various modern techniques as well as various rhytmic placements, which makes him a complete and interesting scratcher to listen to. Other modern scratchers who are even more dexterous like Deska seem like they are not even trying to make music, because all that matters to them is technique. Technique is just a tool to achieve greater things, it's how you use it that counts. And I'm sorry but jazzy jeff or cash mo has never been close to this guy scratching wise, it's like comparing BB king to steve vai.
@ralphthedj3344
@ralphthedj3344 7 жыл бұрын
I was with you up until you compared his skill to Jazzy Jeff & Cash money. Have you ever seen either of them live? I've seen Jeff COMPLETELY own a room not only because of his skill, but the more important fact that he knows when to scratch. I'm here to tell you that unless you're at a DMC type of event, people don't want to hear someone scratch all night long.
