In the Demon Slayer Anime Season 1 and 2 many fans of the Kimetsu no Yaiba Manga and Anime have a really big problem with the character of Zenitsu. A lot of people find Zenitsu annoying and question why does Zenitsu fall asleep so often and why is Zenitsu so strong when he falls asleep in the first place? We've seen Zenitsu use the Breath of Thunder or Thunder Breathing to use techniques like the Thunderclap Flash, even bringing out the Eightfold version, as well as his Godspeed ability he did against Daki and Gyutaro in the Entertainment District Arc. Now we'll discuss how Zenitsu stops sleeping and becomes a master demon slayer during the final Infinity Castle arc of KNY. Here we see Zenitsu vs Kaigaku after Zenitsu gets letter about the fate of his teacher, which starts a change in the young man.

@@Gorartsye's a much more extreme version. He's scared, and he's aware that what he's doing won't help, but he's still scared. He knows that he's strong, he just can't bring himself to use that strength in fear. However, upon hearing of this news, Zenitsu changes. He no longer shies away from fights and begins to take things head on, because he has to. He's not stronger when he's asleep. He's weaker, it's just that he was originally unable to fight properly while awake.

If you really pay attention to Zenitsu's character and how he acts, he's actually extremely grounded and relatable. Like, who wouldn't realistically scream bloody murder at the sight of a demon? Plus, his desire to be strong and valued by others is very human and something everyone can empathize with

I personally don’t have an issue with his character. I think the biggest issue was how the show handled his character early on. They leaned too hard into the screaming and yelling gag in his first appearance. Every few seconds was him screaming and it breaks the tension when they’re supposed to be sneaking in a scary house. They’ve been able to tone him down a lot and it makes his cowardice a lot more watchable now.

@@crazymumbo that's the point of the beginning, he's very vocal and cowardly and notice how as time went on he became increasingly braver, like standing up to daki in entertainment district while being undercover. he basically starts the show off at his worst and we're watching him slowly develop (even if his introduction was REALLY painful, it feels like that was intentional.)

The old man taking his own life was heartbreaking… Zenitsu even says there was no one to cut the old man’s head (cutting his head off, to ease his suffering) when he took his own life (seppuku) meaning he suffered a horrible death 😢😢

Fun fact: the only people capable of creating their own forms for their breathing styles are hashira level. Giyu with Dead Calm, Rengoku with Rengoku (it means purgatory). And seeing as he defeated an upper moon all by himself, he’s unofficially a thunder hashira. He hits all the qualifications.

Zenitsu is the best character, a TRUE HERO. He feels the most empathy for people than anyone, and loves life and living more than others. He wants to live and love and getting loved, he's human. Not only he fears death and the demons, he always overcome the fear to save others, no matter the enemy. That's true heroism, facing fear and overcoming it for the sake of others. He is the most relatable character of all.

bruh i’ve loved zensitsu from the jump. i’ve always loved what the fandom has titled “the kamaboko squad”, but aside from tanjiro, zensitsu has always been my favorite. he’s silly, he’s anxious, he’s loud, he’s humorous, he has moments where he’s extremely immature, but he also has moments where he’s exceedingly mature, and even though he’s normally weak he becomes incredibly strong when he’s asleep. this means that if he had originally found a way to tame his anxiety in a way that wasn’t sleeping, zensitsu would have BEEN the strongest character in the series. he’s an amazing spectacle and example of what someone with anxiety can really do when said anxiety is away.

Straight up fucking facts. He would blitz everyone in mere moments, aside from maybe Akaza, who was able to counter Giyuu's dead calm with speed alone. Although, I doubt it would work on Zenitsu, because he has practically no hostility and barely any fighting spirit when asleep

@@Am_Cookie2436 i'm pretty sure it WOULD work on akaza, since its stated by akaza himself that anyone can counter him if they are faster than his compass, no matter how strong the battle spirit is. And we know how fast zenitsu is. REAL fast.

You change when you lose the only person who truly believed in you. You stop running from your problems and you try to live up to their vision. I know because in some way or form i feel the same way with Zenitsu. My Grandmaster died and he and I was close he was like a father to me. He told me I was a good kid sometimes too good for the world and he believed in me when even I didn't.

@@seemslegit6203It wasnt a 180. His grandfather figured died a painful death because his adoptive brother became a demon meaning he was going to try and kill him and his friends. This is completely consistant with his development. Lets go through how it's consistant. Zenitsu has been shown getting over his cowardice for his friends more than once. He was more than willing to DIE for Tanjiro to protect the box with Nezuko in it from Inosuke despite knowing a demon was inside. This was before he knew that nezuko didnt harm humans and before he even saw her he just trusted Tanjiro. During his fight with the spider he lamants the fact that he was unable to be the successor gramps deserved and in what he thought were his final breaths he left it all up to his adoptive brother. Zenitsu thought himself an unworthy failure and only got by thinking at least his adooptive brother could be a worth succesor for gramps. Only to disscover his betrayal. This made Zenitsu realize HE had to gramps succesor because he was the only student left.

Yeah he found out about gramps dying, but it was not developed at all, literally next time we saw Zenitsu he was no longer being a bitch; dude all the sudden became a completely different person. What you descriped would be true had it been developed more thoroughly.

none of the Slayers solo sucessfully killed any upper moon though rengoku was exceptional, he tried killing akaza and went head to head! tengen literally required help killing gyu and daki cuz it was tricky killing 6 upper moon same upper moon 4 and 5 douma was killed by shinobu and kanao and inosuke akaza commited suicide koku well it took 3 hashiras to beat

Zenitsu became my first favourite character ever since I first saw him in the final selection in anime. I loved his design and Chyntaro (sorry if I have misspelled) I got only a little bit disappointed when he began screaming, but quickly got used to it (plus va in my language did a wonderful job, god bless his vocal cords). I also thought that he's gonna be a dirty perv like Mineta from bnha, but turns out that he's just a simp/womaniser. Later I found him relatable not only bc who wouldn't ducking scream when seeing a bloody demon, but also because I also had a situation when I thought that I'm useless trash that can't do anything (still have it tho, but now less). So yeah, Zenitsu is my #1 (and #2 is Nezuko)

Justice prevails for Zenitsu, he really deserves it. I actually grew on him and he soloed an upper moon (the weakest one though) without sleeping, alone and no slayer mark. He did all this for the very person who taught him everything. I was so sad but glad when his master told Zenitsu that he was his pride and joy. It broke me to see them like this.
