Welcome!
Today's video is a reaction and breakdown of Slaughter to Prevail's newest release Baba Yaga. For those of you unfamiliar with Baba Yaga, she is a significant figure in slavic folklore. Presented as an old woman (or three sisters) her thing is eating people, mostly children. Join me in diving into this gory song from Slaughter to Prevail to see if there is any connection to the folklore and, of course, to hear what we hear from Alex Terrible's incredible harsh vocals.
If you enjoyed this video please like, sub and hit the bell (if you want to).

I've long held that anyone who really appreciates music in general would appreciate metal if they just gave it a real chance. I base that on how, if you work the other way around, so many metalheads are also really into classical or any other prime examples from other genres, from Johnny Cash to Miles Davis.

Yaga would be pronounced yAyGa in English although their might be a tendancy to also pronounce it yAyGar. Another way of looking at it would be combining the word Ya with ga which would be pronounced YarGur. It would likely be pronounced that way with some of the regional accents in the South West of England but it is unlikely to be pronounced that way anywhere else.

I'm so sad that Ian is gone, he was so good, and I met him twice, such a nice guy too. I hope he finds a good band to scream in. Lorna Shore might be really sick!

Alex’s vocals remind me of the band Sikth during the chorus. I love that so much. If you wanna hear what I mean, check out their song Sanguine Seas of Bigotry.

I think that main theme of this clip was built upon idea, that Baba Yaga is a guide of souls to the realm of dead. Guys in the end of clip playing deadly Russian Roulette, then they go to the dead realm, meet Baba Yaga. Defeat her. Eat her. And from this moment. THEY. ARE. BABA YAGA. That's the point, I think

i assume the creativity process in this video was indeed to make the most russian out of it - except for the bear. the bear is in it because alex just wanted to show his new cuddle toy.:) pleeease do some spiritbox.!!! 'blessed be' or 'rule of nines' (not the one-take vocal video) are great tunes to dive into the magical rabbit hole that is called courtney laplante.!!! love you, julia.!! ♥♥

During the breakdown and the outro there is also a choir layered in the background, which I find pretty enjoyable. I love Brand of Sacrifice and they love to do this also.

The band, like in Jinjer, can get over looked by Alex’s vocals.

Watching you dissect this song was very entertaining to watch. The band is from Russia, so ur gonna see Bears, tanks and guns. Forgot about the music video while watching the hot red head. 😍
