Just watched wings of pegasus showed this was clearly pitch corrected. Pentatonix is dead. And you as a vocalist/coach should know better.

Pitch correction is industry standard at this point even on already excellent singers and especially for recordings that are done in the studio/not live. By that I mean, every single song that is released on your radio and most on Spotify is corrected in some fashion. Pitch correction is everywhere and is an unavoidable part of modern recorded music. Additionally, and this is just something to think about, the presence of pitch correction does not tell us how much was corrected. The standard use might be interpreted to mean that the singer was off the note. However pitch correction can also fix “intonation” meaning instead of being a little sharp or flat while still ON the note, it’s shifted to being dead in the middle of the note. This type of absolute perfection is what gives it away as “adjusted” as perfect intonation for every single note isn’t humanly possible. When something is pitch corrected too much (i.e singer truly was flat and nowhere near the note) sometimes you’ll notice a significantly greater impact on the tone of the “voice” you hear in the recording the farther from the desired note the “sung” note was. This isn’t the case here. yes, absolutely pitch correction would be used. I’d be more surprised if it wasn’t tbh and so I won’t usually mention it unless it’s obvious and I know there’s no way in hell the singers can’t do anything close to that live. Pentatonix as singers though? They’re really bloody good and while no human can have absolute intonation, that close approximation is what made them sound incredible when they first started and makes sense for them as vocalists now. we just get our music from an industry that now thinks audiences would like everything to be “perfect” down to the cent (measurement for frequency).

Why i think they're good at making lyrics on the line is that the "joke" and sexualisation is on the men not the women. "Train arriving ahead of schedule, sorry for loss of enjoyement" is an example.

I've cried before watching your reactions, like Ghost Love Score for example... But this time it was for a completely different reason. As someone who battles against (or dances with) anxiety, I've identified so much with his lyrics... And mabe - as you sayd so well - I have to personify this "bad side" of me to learn how to deal with it. I take medication to slow down my condition and recently I started to slow down this by taking half the dose (once every two days) and today was a "no" day... Mabe I shouldn't have seen this reaction today because I'm feeling it in a much more intense way than I should. But I'm an optimistic son of a gun and fortunately I saw the light in the end of the music: it's a dance. I only have to learn how to dance. And dancing should be fun, so... let's dance. Thank you for this, and for all of your reactions. I (as most people) can't live without music, and learning how other people see music that I like is always awesome, even if it's something heavy and dark as this one. As a matter of fact, now you owe us some Ratatata... Electric Callboy and BABYMETAL together, imagine that... Love ya!

Can you do a reaction to FaceVocalBand’s rendition of “The Parting Glass”
@albertnavarro11203 күн бұрын
Sorry Julia, I didn't go through all of the comments, so hopefully this isn't a duplication of effort. But yes, he uses a "talk box", which includes vocoders within the definition. This is also used in the original version of this song. This effect can be be controlled by the user, as in the "talk box" used by Peter Frampton in "Do You Feel" and Roger Troutman of Zapp band. Or can be controlled (triggered) by the sound engineer from the boards using the signal from the users microphone. I love what you do, keep doing you!

I found this channel by literally doing long-tail searches of 'professionals' reacting to this song: "Therapist reacts to Hi Ren", "Rapper reacts to Hi Ren" "Hi Ren analysis", "ignorant minister reacts to Hi Ren and bleeps out bad words", etc... You could almost do an entire channel dedicated to responses, reactions, and treatments of this ONE video and song... and the expressions on faces when they listen to it and watch for the first time. A Reaction to Reactions to "Hi Ren". I live in Boston, nearly across the street from Berklee School of Music and New England Conservatory. I've played piano since I was 4 and Glockenspiel and Drums since I was 11 and everything else much later when I discovered that you needed to master instruments as needed and on the fly. LOL! I never did voice and actually wrote a song making fun of my voice that included my attempt at it. Ren's 'song' isn't a song, as you pointed out. But, it also can't just be listened to: The video and the music cannot be separated. It probably can't be covered successfully the way other Tier-1 musicians can: Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Paul Simon, etc. There are so many things going on at the same time using ALL the senses and thoughts and feelings that it is barely a controlled cacophony of sensory overloads demanding attention... until tears are rolling down our cheeks and we are shown on our own video with a stunned, unmoving face... BTW, his voice control, if you watch his other videos, is impressive and, while nobody would recommend it on a long tour, his high-throat, high-register moments are used to effect, but you can see that he relaxes his throat to near flaccidity in the beginning to get that 'sheet flapping in the wind' "evil Ren" effect. Then there are lights, colors, symbolism, pig mask with blood and morgue gloves (in a psych hospital?), lyrical references, biblical references, musical references (to other songs using the same exact notes), etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.... It's not even like peeling an onion: It's like peeling the onion to find the beginning of that black spot so you can cut around it and salvage some onion... ok, maybe not like that. The Evil Ren voice also matches his plucking style: Evil Ren is multi-string and kinda sloppy. Good Ren is simple and neat. It's interesting to see reactions... interesting to see WHO reacts and who doesn't. Who it hits and who it doesn't... who feels threatened (like the minister) and who doesn't... Thank you for your video. You should check out his street busker video, "I shot the Sherrif". You may like how different and equally masterful it is.

Oh, also, Evin Ren is just the controlling parent, bf/gf, trash-friend, etc. They are the 'toxic' person in our lives (even if it is our own selves) who act like a friend and a lover, but would never survive anyone in their lives succeeding and leaving them behind, alone and part of the swamp. Evil Ren is the abuser or addict-friend, or even boss and mentor and teacher and parent whose ego cannot survive your success.

I was wondering why I gravitated towards this song so much! Yes! Everything about this reminds me of country over modern pop. The story telling in the lyrics (meaning that you aren’t left wondering exactly what she’s trying to convey in the song) and reminds me of my favorite country songs which is mostly country from the 80’s and 90’s. Romantic, lovely and can lull me to sleep.
