What about tuning the guitar in all 4ths? Do you think it would be easier to apply all the knowledge?

It completely depends on the chord you are trying to play. Some chords are much easier in 4ths, and others are much more challenging. Every instrument and tuning has its strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes we are forced to compensate for these when trying to apply theory in practice. If you are comfortable in both tunings (which I am not), then try both to see which is most suitable for the particular chord progression. Cheers!
