Guaranteed, Geoff, the bass, used proper form in the studio when this was recorded -- he has a 5 octave range; B0-B5 (IIRC) -- and very good at what he does. Rachel Potter has played Ariel and other characters for Disney, so she was the perfect choice for this. I believe other members have worked for Disney, as well.

It was a 4 octave jump from D5-D1 Geoff is one of the best basses in acapella his new song sixteen tons is absolutely amazing

3 octave slide actually, it was a mixed D5 to a chest D2, they put the sub D1 in the background, sounding at the same time as the end of the slide, if you hear the isolated version on Patreon you're going to hear that the slide was "only" a 3 octave slide

You should definitely react to Geoff Castellucci sing Blackbird. He has such a large range and he shows a lot of it in the Blackbird song

Geoff could afford to do what he did on "on a roll", for theatrical purposes, because he was very comfortably within his range, singing easily in the modal register, straining nothing. (I know, I know, you don't normally expect a bass to sing alto notes easily like that. But this is Geoff Castellucci; he has, umm, a larger range than average.) Also, as someone else pointed out, the video is recorded separately from and subsequent to the official audio; this is almost always the case for modern music videos.

Rachel actually is a Disney princess, for a couple of years she did Ariel 3 or 4 times a day. I enjoy her in Phantom of the Opera.

I personally like you're explanations within the song. You're doing a great job analysing and explaining. Thank you very much. Also I'm with some of the other comments here: Geoff Castelluci with Sixteen Tons or Blackbird are amazing covers and I'd love to hear your opinion and analysis of those songs. :> Also followed!

If you do Throat Singing, at least for me, it's way easier to hit like around E1, D1 if i l8ok up like i wanna catch a snowflake. IDK why but it helps.

There's a smaller KZfaqr I love who did a cover of "If Only" from The Little Mermaid on Broadway that I think you should check out. Her name is Traci Hines and something you should know if you do react to that cover is that it is the first song she recorded after having vocal chord surgery to remove vocal polyps and spending a year in vocal therapy relearning how to talk and sing. Knowing that makes it a more emotional cover and it's absolutely beautiful.

I would love to hear your opinion of Home Free, another A Capella group. They have more of a country vibe although they cover a lot of other genres. Their covers and originals are great. I know it's a Christmas song but their version of Do You Hear What I Hear Is Amazing and so is Hiw Great Thou Art. On the second song one of the founders of the group had left and been replaced by someone else. Both are fantastic anyway.

Hope you review Geoff Castelucci Sixteen Tonnes, Country Roads, and Blackbird. They are three incredible versions. Plus.. if you haven't had the opportunity to check out Hellfire by Tomi P , it's awesome.

I was thinking about this British English pronunciation of world, because some regional accents are very different, and the Scots have the trilled r sound. In the north east some use a very different r sound, as my grandfather did, not sure what to cal it but it's right in the back of the throat. Sorry, I just have a thing about accents. :)
