They call them grunts because they always grunt with the heft of the all the gear they lug around. They grunt when getting back up from a break. They grunt when humping the boonies. It’s just the sound a marine makes

They say that the men and women who fought in World War II was the greatest generation. But the way I see it, any generation that volunteers to fight in a war against enemy aggression is also one of the greatest generations. I am blessed to have been able to listen to Barry Blue’s life story. Thank you sir for your service and fortitude to carry on!

Fun fact: because Barry was in 1/5 he is able to wear the French Fourragere on his Service and Blues uniforms. There are only two Regiments in the entire Marine Corps whose Marines are allowed to wear this. It is an honor that was given to these two units after a gruesome battle in WW1 called the Battle of Belleau Wood

This was a great interview, like all of your interviews. But this marine reminds me of my dad, who dropped out of high school at 17 and joined the marines in 1967. The salutes at the end get me every time. My dad would salute me every time I'd leave the parents' place after visiting. I always appreciated that, but since he passed in 2020 those salutes have become far more meaningful to me. I wish he were still alive so I could ask him about and hear his stories all over again.

Thank you for service My brother inlaw Ray Rogers was in Vietnam war in 1972 he still alive and kicking, he is a Baptist minister in western Wisconsin, he didn't take much about his tour, until after he became a minister, I enjoy listening to him about his experiences in Vietnam and he fought in the jungle and he was a gunner on a machine with 5, 50 caliber guns and he was the operator for this gun, I saw pictures of the same machine.

Thank you sir I just saw your reply to my comment here on Sunday morning. Iam just getting ready to shave and shower for Catholic Mass, and I must say, that I have never been more proud of being a United States Marine 🇺🇸 then iam right now! Barry's story of Marine Corps heritage and Valor moved me greatly! Iam a 4th generation, Irish Scottish catholic United States Marine Corps veteran. The men in my family served the Marines in ww2, Korea and Vietnam, to include my Marine Corps services in Marine Recon in the fist Persian gulf War! To me being a Recon Marine has nothing to do with money Metals paycheck or any of that nonsense it's about a title that I carry like armor in my family✝️✝️✝️🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪 I am always into this day what's the United States Marine always a Marine Semper Fidelis God bless the core God bless my brothers and sisters of the Marine Corps and God bless this great nation the United States of America that I love very deeply along with my love for God🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✝️✝️✝️🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

I’m a regular viewer Larry as you know. And as you know I missed Vietnam by about six months so you know my approximate age. I was one of those kids many years ago and you speak of the kids now that were born into the freedoms this great country enjoys. It’s through your work especially that I have learned the price of freedom and that freedom isn’t free at all. There is a price and that price is paid by the men and women who serve. It’s by listening to these great warriors that you have interviewed that I have learned about the freedom that I was born into. Incredible! Thank you Larry for your heart, your vision, your commitment and your love. I salute you.

Jay, this was the greatest comment I've received over the years about my work. I can't thank you enough. Your kind words mean the world to me. I suppose many times after an interview I would come home feeling like nobody will ever understand what I've just been through and heard, perhaps similar to what the combat Veterans felt when they came home from war. I know I'm fighting my own war and my ranks have grown thin over the years. I also know that God is here looking over and watching us. It's been an honor serving my God and my country the past 20 years through the lens of my camera. I hope there is time left to share more of these timeless stories in my archives. God bless you my friend!! Please feel free to reach out. EMAIL: lcappetto@icloud.com

Wow, right off the bat brings back how my father Joe Caputo joined the Marine Corps in 1964 . Dad walked into the Navy recruitment center and the Navy told him they could not take him because of his driving record. My father then told the recruiter I don’t want to drive the f***ing boat. I just want to ride on it.

Thank you, sir, for your service. Thank you for doing these interviews. Viet Nam vets need to have their stories told. They need to be given the respect that they never got when they came home. I had family and friends that were in Viet Nam, also Korea, Europe WW II, Pacific WW II. But none had ever come home to what Viet Nam vets faced. I have always had respect for any veteran regardless of their service. Thank you again for another great story.
