If Voidfall can benefit from anything, it is in providing more ways for new players to ease into the game. This video is a tremendous place for new players to start, as it introduces the core mechanics of the game that are needed across both solo, co-op, or competitive. This is very well-paced and explained, and most likely the place where I will send interested players who want to learn the game before sitting down at the table.

@OhHeyK3vin Thanks so much, that’s great to hear! When I first learned, I read all the rulebooks, and then afterwards watched the official how-to-play video, and then I still made mistakes for a few games. It’s a tough one to learn, but I swear it becomes much easier to play (and enjoy!) after a few good playthroughs. Easily among my top favorite games!

I wonder how it's possible that such amazing boardgame channel has so few subscribers! You are doing great bro!! it would be amazing if you do a play through of Fractal Beyond the void Imo best modern 4X ever!

@ChristianoErre-sh8kh Thanks so much! Maybe share the channel with your friends, let’s take it to the moon! I remember looking at Fractal about the same time as Voidfall and I was only able to back one of them. Fractal definitely looked cool, but I don’t regret backing Voidfall for a minute. Of course, if I get my hands on a copy of Fractal I’ll surely do a playthrough! New Voidfall playthrough coming this Friday, stay tuned!

@@table_for_one yes! I gonna buy My Voidfall copy as soon as it will be locate in italian. I have many 4X and this year has been amazing for these kind of game! Fractal is amazing and give a total different feeling but this Voidfall is amazing too! I m a Space Empire 4X fan too that is an evergreen in my opinion!

@ChristianoErre-sh8kh Voidfall is my first 4X (some people get heated about how many X’s, but I’m not one of them 😉). I think I’d enjoy other 4X games like TI and Eclipse too, but I just don’t have a large enough dedicated game group to make it worth it. Solo mode was a big deal for me (shocking!), so Voidfall fit the bill. Plus I think the basis of the story is awesome but still leaves a ton to the imagination. Super recommend! Also, there are a lot of very helpful and well-thought-out icons, so the language barrier isn’t insurmountable, but I probably would have a hard time playing it in Italian haha

@corey3129 Congrats to you on your future fun! Glad it was clear. More good news for you: I have a new Voidfall solo playthrough (not the tutorial this time) releasing this Friday (Mar 1, 2024). It will demonstrate some of the other mechanics not seen in the tutorial.

Well played, though some is for fun. 39:00 you should advance a civ track instead of taking an agenda card because 2 of them are take an agenda card. 43:00 you could probably save a material/salvo because you will do an approach damage with the dreadnaught and have initiative. I assume it was didactic. 49:00 oops i need to reread the battle chart. I confuse attack vs. defense absorption vs. damage. the outcome is usually the same but 43:00 would be different math. 55:00 you forgot to take your return to trade token bonus when you got distracted by needed to use your terraforming bonus. I'd have to check the icons in the dials (they may say on produce) but you might have been above to min/max by overproducing food to gain 3 more VP. 58:30 that's still a phenomenal score for a tutorial, i think it.s 20 pts higher than the first time I did it. You make me want to play that one again to see how much I improved.

@tychay Good call, you’re 100% right! I should have advanced the Statecraft track to get the Agenda card anyway while also unlocking an improved tech. While we’re at it 😉 there was zero reason to use Deep Space Missiles at 19:33 besides wanting to do it for fun! (waste of 1 Energy, same outcome either way)

@tychay I don’t believe that’s correct at 43:00. The dreadnought has one Approach absorption, which was not needed, and only one Salvo absorption as a defender, but I was the attacker. Without DSM, I would have fired first during the first salvo, and they would have fired back, forcing me to recall one Fleet Power. I didn’t need the FP though, so it would have worked out the same, which maybe was your point. Good eye though, you’re paying attention! 😁 Love the feedback!

@@table_for_oneYeah, I was doing the combat chart from memory and got the attack/defense abilities backwards. I've only used dreadnaughts once. lol! In any case, you play this very clearly (and very fast/no AP pauses). The only thing a beginner would miss is the reason you were playing the cards in which order!

@tychay Thanks! You were commenting faster than I could reply, haha! I wouldn't say I get AP, but I do enjoy sitting and thinking a lot while playing games. I do my best to edit out these pauses in all of my videos where I can. 54:30 You're right, I mentioned taking the Trade Nexus bonus and then totally got distracted. I do this to myself all the time (not just limited to Voidfall--I'm looking at you, Terraforming Mars!) To your point, you must produce in order to over-produce and gain 3 Influence. You do not trigger overproduction by just gaining resources to your stockpile, so I didn't miss out on any Influence in this case. Thanks for all the notes! It's helpful for me, and hopefully for others as well

I’m new to the game so may have just missed a house or tech ability in all the info I was taking in but I believe for EoR upkeep you MUST use food as opposed to what I inferred from your phrasing that you chose to use food.
