Thanks for the enthusiastic first look! I also bought this lens specifically for my x-pro3 and I'm loving it so far. Two observations though: 1) the lens exhibits quite a bit of coma wide open. I noticed it when I used the lens for some city scape shots. It's also visible in your black and white Christmas tree image at 6:42. Stopping down to f2.8 or smaller eliminates this enough. 2) for me the focus tab is a bit difficult to use when the camera is in portrait orientation. Besides these two point I'm absolutely happy with my purchase and highly recommend it!

Excellent lens but no distance mark between 2 meters and infinité is a true problem if you want to shoot at 2.8 or 4 very quickly by zone focus, and no wr is not acceptable for the price (fuji can makee it for a quite similar small lens

I would love a 35mm Voigtlander lens for my Xpro-2 but as far as I am aware it does not work with this camera. But with a firmware update on Xt-2, it works and both cameras came out in 2016. I wanted a Voigtlander manual focus lens with a distance scale, aperture, and focus tab for Xpro 2 but I can't find one. I know it will work on my Xt-4 but I prefer Xpro 2 while on the streets. So my search continues to find the right one.

Nice lens but I’m in love with the TTArtisan 25 f/2 for image quality, for built quality and for price. So, my question is, aside that parallax correction, what could justify the price difference? Because that was my thought about Voigtlander 23 f/1.2 and I don’t regret the fact that I didn’t buy it, I’m feeling the same for this one. I kindly remind that for street photography most of us shoot between f/5.6 to f/8 with zone focusing or hyperfocal, sometimes from the hip. I can’t see the advantage of this lens (price wise) for what I do. I do encourage people to try the TTArtisan 25 f/2 and the 17 f/1.4, lenses around 60$ and quite sharp, nice render and amazing quality built. I’m sure Voigtlander must be a great brand but those don’t justify the price for street photography. If I would want to go expensive I would change to Leica. But that’s me and I’m not criticizing the review. Love your channel and respect your work.

Yep, I'm with you on TTartisans 25mm. I love mine. I wish they made a 35mm f2 companion model, as they do in 50mm . The worst thing about this Voigtlander is that it is still a dumb lens on the older bodies, so what are you paying for? I am a 40-45mm FOV freak for my cameras. I splashed out a couple of years ago on a Voigtlander 28mm f2 Vintage Line in M mount, which I can use on my film bodies and my X-T1's. It is optically superb, beautifully built and a joy to use. I am sure the new 27mm will be the same in the first two departments, but that focus throw is very small, unlike my 28mm lens. For the same money, if I wanted a compact pancake, slightly wide MF lens which had a bit more kudos than the TTartisans 25mm and were not worried about the maximum aperture and close focus distance I would go for Voigtlander's 28mm f2.8 in M mount for about the same price. Then we should consider TTartisans 27mm AF lens, which IMO as an all round package is better than Fujifilm's own offering and handier than any MF lens. It's a bargain too.

Just try it and you will get the answer. All you wrote was about functionality & save money. I didnt have a lot of money, but i tried it. And it was another class off photos. More room, more 3D in 2D, more like full frame. And then again if you ask, how can relate the price instead to a full-frame system for 3000-5000 bucks, than ya have the answer. In photography its just about the look, in the end the photo. And yeah i liked the TTArtisan too, but i will now sell, and spend the money to V. This one lense was all, i still wanted the whole last 3 years from fuji. But fuji didnt do that on that focal length.

Thank you for doing this review so quickly. I am sure that I will buy this lens, just have to justify the cost among my other recent purchases, photo gear and watches are not hobbies for the miser. I only have the X-Pro2, so I won't get the same advantage as you do on the X-Pro3, but I still would like this lens for my X-T and X-E class bodies. The optical quality and close focus distance as well as the infinity hard-stop make this a sure thing for my next purchase. Again, thanks!

You are welcome. I'll review it more. Had the chance to shoot it today. The image quality is amazing, jaw dropping. The only downside that I feel is that the focus throw is a little too short - I need to use it more to see how I can develop some muscle memory and at what distance I'll shoot it. But in rest, I've got very good results for using it for the first time. It's really something.

@@gianmarco5915 it means when you set the lens at infinity it's not actually focused at infinity. The 27mm F2 Ultron is. But the 35mm f1.2 is not.

I dunno.i get great results with my far cheaper $55 TTArtisan 25mm f2 on my X-Pro3. Not sure the Voigtlander is over 10x better!

Thank you for this review, Tudor. You say that the Fujinon 27mm f/2.8 "flares like crazy". I've used the lens since it first came out and replaced it with the WR version (because I like the aperture ring). Neither version of the 27mm f/2.8 show any flaring. Think about it: it's a pancake lens!! Flaring is virtually impossible. But hey, people like to regurgitateg the myth about flaring. So indulge your self. In the meantime, I will try and get some flaring with this lens, which so far I've been unable to do. What am I doing wrong???

Yes... But I will complain a little in the feature video about the focusing scale. It's ok... But it could be better. But the lens optically is outstanding... I really love it.

I'm looking forward to that video. I previously used Kamlan 28mm and focusing scale wasn't great either. Just ordered the voigtlander !
