I can hear the obvious influence of Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd era, Voivod was always a interesting band, certainly one of the best thrash metal bands in history, thanks for sharing.

@@buckster2575 I was talking about the psychedelic influence that comes from early Pink Floyd music, Voivod did two cover versions of songs of Pink Floyd, it's a well known fact that Voivod were influenced by Pink Floyd progressive rock elements.

I've been listening to this song since the '80s, but it's the first time I've read the lyrics somehow. Weird how that, on paper, they shouldn't work with this song - just try to chant/sing-song them on your own, especially while imagining you don't know the music! - yet work they do, and it's hard to imagine the song with any other lyrics!

Also, a huge shout-out for whoever produced the video: are the special effects crude by today's standards? Sure, but for trying to portray a music-video length journey through Away's bizarre artwork on an 'eccentric 80s thrash metal budget, it's hard to imagine how anyone could have done much better. Very imaginative special effects created with almost no resources, and the weird camera effects somehow make that city (Toronto?) look positively post-apocalyptic and alien, while the primitive CGI work does exactly the job it needed to do without looking out of place or intrusive - very nice work, especially considering there were mainstream videos produced at about the same time that were praised in their day for the CGI work which have not held up anywhere near this well!

@@orlandorayo3567 yeah I remember there were some other songs on that video by Voivod but couldn't find them on KZfaq. I met Spike + the Quireboys at a festival in Germany Black Forest a couple of years ago, was like, "yeah saw you guys on Hard n' Heavy" lol....

@@glennaldosfThe other Song was Tribal Convictions, they mixed the Video with Live Footage. This was the first time I ever heard Voivod and I've been fan since then. They were also on Hard N Heavy Volume 6 to tie in with Nothingface.

Lol when I first saw this on Much Music it was back to back with the Tribal Convictions video. It wasn’t until I finally got the cassette that I realized those were separate songs.😅

They had the best concert I have ever seen, Oklahoma City, March 2024, Emerald Ballroom. Wow. They also took selfies with anybody that wanted one. I just thanked them all profusely. Avoid Prong, NOT that good. Pretty bad really.
