Max didn’t look so good tho. He’s starting to decline and Volk looked faster and sharper than ever. Volk got better while Max is starting to decline. He didn’t look as fast and sharp the wars are certainly starting to catch up to him. Credit to Volk he made it look easy

This is basically what happened to Volk vs Makhachev, but the role is reversed, in this match, Alex robs Max, while in the Islam match, Islam robs Alex, so what we can learn here? We learn that attempting takedown gives u W

@@parfaitcell3067 Totally true and one of the worse realities of UFC judging. Takedowns should only be worth it if the fighter is able to bring his opponent to the ground and keep him there. That's the meaning behind a takedown. But in the UFC judging, any takedown attempt is scored like the one attempting is winning the fight. It's almost like you go around throwing punches against a opponent, the guy deflects all of them, but you carry the fight because you was being the aggressor. It's against every reasoning in martial arts.

i do think we're also underrating how many good fighters max has fought. he's low-key old in terms of fight time and such, he just started really young. i guess my point is max also declined from fight 2 to fight 3, which we could see in the yair fight. but you're also right, volk got better

watching this again, max's takedown defense and ability to get up are always underrated. like you see how strong volk is vs other guys and he really couldn't do much with the takedowns here. in the 3rd fight, he was just way too fucking fast and crisp, and that shot that cut max open opened up an already existing gap. i still think max won this one, but after the 3rd fight, there was no doubt in my mind that volk was the pfp best fighter on the planet

No doubt huh? I have quite a few doubts after his lackluster performance against Makhachev. I am completely unbiased in the fact that I have nothing vested in either guy winning or losing. I watched that fight repeatedly just to be as balanced as possible, and every time I watched it I saw only 30 seconds where Volk was useful in the fight. And Volk fans have a hard time facing that fact. They think that winning 30 seconds of a 25 minute fight means that Volk should have walked away victorious. But, that's not how things work. Volk should have lost this fight with Holloway (2) and he definitely lost against Makhachev as well. In fact Makhachev pretty much dropped Volk twice in that fight.

1 & 2 clear holloway rounds 3 was more competitive but it goes to holloway. Out struck & stuffed takedowns and didn’t let Volk get any control time the takedowns landed. Sad to see man.

Also Volk got woken up in the middle of the night by USADA, but i guess that doesn't matter couse it happened to Volk. But if it would have happened to Max you would be "But USADA woke up Max before so he should win" Bullshit. I like both Max and Volk, but Max did not get robbed at all. Volk simply won 3-4-5 that's it. He landed more and harder shoots in round 3 overall. So both had 2-2 Max had 1-2 Volk had 4-5 And round 3 was the deciding round, and Volk simply won it

@@VicioRay That's the strikes counted during the fight. They did a recount after the fight and Volk landed more in the 3rd round. He barely edged the third round and won the last 2. It's not a robbery but a close contest in which Volk rightly got the decision.

I knew if Volk won the third fight, everyone would act as if he won this fight as well. That wasn't the case, most MMA media members scored this for Max and most fighters did too. That being said, doesn't really matter since Volk outclassed him in the third.

Good fight but i really can’t see how people give this to volk and how they robbed Holloway out of those knockdowns. Threw more strikes. Landed bigger combinations. More damage output. Denied takedowns. Didn’t let volk control him on the ground. Good defense on the clinch. Controlling the octagon majority of the fight. Rounds 1 , 2 & 3 go to Max. The championships rounds were close but i gave them to Volk.

Volk hit 1 knee for a split second which could have been from a slip as well as the punch togheter, it was more of an off balanced KD not a concussed one couse Volk popped back up like nothing happened and fired back. So he wasn't dropped on his ass badly or anything, i can see why they don't count it as a legit KD

I've watched this fight about 7 seven times, and all I can say is this: Max for sure won rounds 1&2, but that means absolutely nothing in a 5 round fight. Yes, Volkanovski was dropped twice, but he got right back up and continued fighting, and didn't really look any worse for wear (in my humble opinion of course). He also seemed to get stronger as the fight went on, and landed the harder shots, and he definitely won rounds 4&5. Round 3 was a toss-up, but I believe Volkanovski JUST managed to steal it by (again) landed harder shots. It really was a close fight. I love Max, and I wouldn't have been upset if he'd won, but I vehemently disagree that he was robbed. And the fact that Volkanovski completely dominated him in the third fight definitely proves he is the better fighter of the two. And really, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what everybody thinks: Volk is 3-0 against Max. So put that in your back pocket.

@@killerkdawg88 Round 1 for sure should've been a 10-8. He hurt him bad enough to warrant a 10-8, on top of all the damage he did that round as well? Anytime it's a close fight, you never know with these judges and out of date scoring system. A system that is for boxing, not MMA honestly.

@@joeschmo247 see, for me, a 10-8 round is complete domination throughout the fight. The knockdown in round one happened at the very end, and as I said: Volk got right back up. Otherwise, the round looked fairly competitive from my vantage point. A knockdown doesn’t automatically guarantee a 10-8 round to me.

@@killerkdawg88 I don't think just a knockdown automatically makes it a 10-8 round. But put that, with what max did to Valk in the first round, I personally would've scored it 10-8. Either way, Valk proved everyone that doubted him wrong in this last fight. There's no denying this last fight who won, but still Max never got knockdown. Which is insane knowing how Max fights. Even Valk talked about Max's chin in this last post fight interview. I believe Valk will be at the top of that division for awhile.

@@HappyLeigh It should mean nothing. Let’s say Max actually won this fight. Volk beat him the first time so he becomes 1-0 over him, then holloway comes back and wins this fight so they are tied 1-1. Then in the third fight volkanovski absolutely dominated and wins 50-45 and wins. Whether max wins the second fight or not it doesn’t matter either volk is 3-0 or 2-1

Im a bit worried for volks. People might descredit him like charles if islam could make him look like an easy prey. I hope everyone would respect fighters if they either win or loss. They are battering each others faces while we only watch the show.

The one thing many MMA fighters lack is a “stiff boxer’s jab”. Max doesn’t have one. If he did and knew how to use it, he’d of easily beat Volk. Max has a good straight right. But he needs a stiff left jab to set up his right. His left jab is lazy and ineffectual

Max was a live odds -380 favorite to win this fight going into round 4 and Volk spammed leg kicks and take down attempts in which most were unsuccessful and somehow won despite only winning those 2 10-9 rounds in everyone except 2 incompetent judges eyes??? Obviously Volk won the 3rd fight very decisively, but it should’ve been to win the belt back, not defend it.
