I have a US 22 SEL R Line with the 300hp with DSG. So far my only issue is a small cosmetic one. The main dash ambient lighting LED is not fully lit across the whole dash and is covered and being replaced under warranty.

I'm thinking of getting a US 23 SEL Premium R-line. How many miles have you covered so far and do you have any oil burn issues? Any other issues?

@@KlmDet I got it last May and since put 8k miles on it and still the only issue was the LED on the dash which when the part arrived was only an hour to fix....everything has been solid so far and very enjoyable. Best of luck on your possible purchase! 🍻

Thinking about getting a hybrid Arteon 2021. Ive tried to read up on common issues and sometimes i feel like i hear alot and sometimes nothing big to worry about.. So cant decide if i should rule out the arteon or not haha heeelp

My 2022 R line has an intermittent "Travel Assist Unavailable" warning. Seems to be related to movement of the steering wheel and occurs most in temperatures above 28 centigrade.

Same issues here, its going to the dealer in a month to have it fixed, they said they would most likely replace the steering wheel which is kinda nice tbh, i got warranty and id be happy to get a brand new steering wheel.

The statement @2:13 isn't correct. Als pre facelift models can have digital dails. The easiest way to check if you have a pre facelift model is to check the steering wheel. If you see normal button's it's the old version. The new version has the integrated buttons shown in the video.

Should I buy an arteon 2017 2.0 TDI? Cause I’m looking for this car and I got no information about the engine and the problems of them! And what about the 1.5 tsi?

2.0 tdi is a great engine both in reliability, economy and performance. Just go for it. It has way less problems than the BMW and Mercedes 2000cc diesels.

Great video. Very informative. Looking to buy 18-19 arteon and it's between the 240 hp diesel or 272 hp petrol. Which one should i pick? I mainly drive in town with the occasional longer trip. Performance is nice to have but i want a mix of good fuel economy and smooth drive, which one should i pick?

Many thanks. When I sold cars we generally advised anyone who doesn’t drive regular long journeys to buy petrol and it’s the advice I still give whenever anyone asks 👍

These are personal options based on experience but I’ll try to be unbiased (I’ve owned petrol and diesel cars and think they can both be great when matched to the right car and use case) three main reasons- 1. Cost - the more mileage you cover the better the saving with diesel, usually short trip drivers generally cover lower overall mileage (your case may be different) and so the fuel saving is lower. Diesels also used to be more expensive to buy (that may not be the case now) and so spending extra on the purchase may not make sense if you won’t be saving much in fuel 2. I’ve seen my own (low mileage) customers come back after ignoring advice on petrol vs diesel. A single garage charge for a forced regen can wipe out any fuel saving for a low mileage driver. I was always sad to see this as I knew they would likely be back and after you’ve spent hours selling a car to someone you treat them as a friend and want the best for them (at least some car salesman do, but don’t expect this from all of them 😅)Also it isn’t just the DPF, modern diesel engines can sometimes suffer with oil dilution, meaning they need more oil changes to avoid causing other problems 3. Having worked on diesel and petrol engines with my own hands, petrols (personal opinion) were generally easier to work on Diesels are best suited to long distance, heavy haulage and other applications that need constant speed and high torque which is why so many boats go for diesel above a certain size. Saying all of this, modern petrol engines (2018/19) onwards also now have Particulate filters (generally called OPF or PPF and are essentially doing the same as a DPF). I’m yet to hear of them causing big bills as petrol engines generally create less particulate gases so the filters live an easier life but these are still quite new. The Arteon you are looking at will likely have a particulate filter on both petrol and diesel so please make the decision that you believe is best for you, and all the best with your next car 👍

@@themilesdriven Thanks for explaining it so thoroughly. Yea, ive heard that generally petrol engines are easier to work on. I have only owned petrol cars so i dont really know too much about diesels and how is it owning them. Currently im looking at a petrol and a diesel arteon who are both prices at 24.5k£ at about 8000 km here in sweden. Feels like a diesel is more fun at lower revs and petrols require more revs to make the power? am i wrong? But you are right that diesels shine in motorways at high speeds, considering 85% of my journeys will be short in town, with a lot of start stop, a petrol would probably make more sense. I have driven a 530d -19 and it was loads of fun in town due to low rev pulls etc, power seemed to be available almost instantly. Also drove a 540i -19 and i noticed i had to rev it quite hard to get the optimal performance compared to the diesel. Thats why im also considering diesel because of the pull at low revs.

No worries 👍 I drive in Sweden several times a year as I have family over there and driving a diesel on short journeys and at minus temperatures for half the year (or more depending where you live 😁) isn’t ideal. You can do it, but you’d probably have to add a few long journeys (even if it’s just for fun) each week. My uncle there had diesels for 15 years when he used to drive long distances. After they moved to Stockholm they found the diesels just didn’t work as well for them and they have had petrols ever since. The low torque of diesels is very enjoyable but a 2.0TSI Arteon has quite good low down torque, and a noticeable difference in power from there

My 2023 R line hybrid has since new travel assist issues, firstly intermittently not seeing the vehicle in front and even accelerating until you manually brake. Second issue mainly on motorway at the speed limit the car suddenly brakes because it sees a lower speed as if there was previously a lower speed limit at that point. Both very dangerous and VW service have no solution. I also get random steering wheel alarms. A lovely car spoilt by poor technology.

A a few complaints of quality control issues that were reported in 2020/2021 caused by some manufacturing delays/parts shortage, but warranties sorted most of these problems. Check the windows for scratches, and make sure all the panels latch perfectly and you should be good, other than that just the notes in our guide for the engine 👍

I didn't get the issue with the windows... I just bought an 2018 2.0 TSI Arteon and both the driver and passenger windows squeak while closing/opening... Will this squeaking make those scratches to the windows eventually!?

Lots and lots of issues with steering wheels needing replacing. Some people are on their 6th wheel

If you own and drive one, you come to understand why it's priced as is. It's absolutely fantastic car to drive.has bells and whistles 'luxury models' don't offer. You can't buy the baseline model and expect the full experience. Imo. Also non-owners on the outside looking in, speaking on something they haven't experienced firsthand. Guess you can tell I love my Arteon.

I have some suspension clanking on the front left tire, most likely something with the anti sway bar or whatever the dealers said, its going to be fixed under warranty.
