Every safety system can be disabled by pressing brake pedal. It reacts only if you are doing nothing or pressing throttle pedal. But brakes disable everything.

Actually the rear door should have remained latched. The door are supposed to unlock not to open like that.

It’s done on purpose so you can leave the vehicle to go on with your business afterwards

They are supposed to unlock but not to open. A door should never open during an impact because if one ore more occupants aren’t wearing seats belts they can fly out of the vehicle, and eventually suffer even worse injuries.

Um rear left passenger door latch failed on side impact and does Volkswagen not have post accident anymore. My Beetle has post accident which means in an accident the brakes are applied and other features kick in so the vehicle stops. This VW kept rolling?

I have also driven the car, but unfortunately it locked into the steering at 220 kmh. After 6000 kilometres it had a fault in the PDC.

In car magacine was written, the Golf was tested in Dec. 2019 and reach 5 Stars because from 2020 on the testing was improved and the Golf does reach only 4 Stars in basic version. Very tricky.

Im not sure that the door opening in an impact is overly safe, what about a secondary hit on that side right where ur rear passenger/childseat would be?

It doesn’t matter, a the crash structure is already compromised. Any further hit will directly transfer to the passengers. If the door opens that at least is a good sign of rigidity of the chassis. Some american manufacturers seem to use noodles as metal, you won‘t be able to get out of the car after a crash. That won’t be a problem here at least. I also believe this to be an anomaly. Test it 5 times, get 3 different results...

@@mabrokenleg2388 id rather have a crumpled door in front of me in an impact than it wide open to whatever is coming at me next though i get what ur saying on it maybe being an anomaly. Something in the structure either flexed too much and sprung the door or the latch itself failed there.

I saw many car test. And saw how car roof bend down in half. Or car chassis brake down. Or car door bend down. Or windscreen brake. So now what I see. I see safety cars. Vw go straight to the wall and car roof still good. Windows still okay. And doors good. Not damaged. Car body are flexible. I have vw golf mk5 2008. Two doors. And when I drive on the field or bad road I can hear the car body moving. And That why my car has a lot of space between door and body. I start hear this when I resealed my car. So car it's flexible and that why crash test show good results of the accidents.

Al minuto 1:51 si può osservare la portiera posteriore che si spalanca. Se fosse stato un incidente reale e non un crash test il passeggero seduto dietro senza cintura può essere scaraventato fuori provocando la sua morte. perché raramente i passeggeri dietro si mettono la cintura.

For those who ask why every VW is borring, simple shaped and does not looks like rest of modern cars - that's the answer. The car durability and savety level is related to it's shape. And of course material used etc... But everything begins in shape.

EURO NCAP needs to stop testing cars with methods that are decades old. I’m surprised they don’t give every car 5 stars. We want the toughest tests done like how IIHS does it. Slamming a car into a wall is a 1970’s method that has little to no impact in today’s real world crashes and moderate overlap testing is from the 1990’s. We want to see the hardest tests done like small overlap testing and roof strength. Those reflect real world crashes and test true safety cage structure. It’s unfortunate I’m going to have to wait years for IIHS to test this vehicle properly.
