1972 Chevrolet Corvette for sale at Volo Auto Museum (V19742)

Just finished a complete body off frame restoration. #s match throughout- motor, trans, rear, starter, carb, distributor and color. Very desirable 2 top roadster with a/c and a 4-speed.
EXTERIOR: The body is in very good shape, no cracks or damage that I found. Repainted it's original Steel Cities gray, rare color. The paint is glossy. Shiny and straight original chrome. New windshield and the stainless trim around it was polished. It still has the weather shields behind the grills that protect the headlights and it has the front spoiler. 15x8 rally wheels have good original trim and new tires. It has a correct antenna and vintage 1972 license plate. The black convertible top is in very good condition. The hardtop is painted to match the car and is also in very good original condition.
INTERIOR: New cushions and upholstery, the seats are comfy. New door panels. The carpet has been replaced front to back. The dash pad is very nice, factory gauges are clean and they all work. The clock was rebuilt. It has original Am-Fm radio. The center console bezel is all new, the heater control panel is new. It has the correct shifter with reverse lock out and chrome ball. New carpet front to back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The casting codes and dates are correct. The vin #s on the pad match the car. Correct numbered carb and distributor. The 350 motor was completely rebuilt- polished crank, new pistons, reconditioned rods, LT-1 cam etc. New master cylinder. Rebuilt radiator, new clutch fan, new heater core and hoses. The factory air conditioning system was completely rebuilt and blows cold. The vacuum system was gone through for the wiper door and headlight doors. It is so tight there is enough vacuum to open the lights even after the engine is not running. There are so many miscellaneous parts that look new like the steering coupler, hood latch mechanisms and hinges, fan shroud, belts, pulleys etc. The dual snorkel air cleaner has a new chrome lid. The ignition shielding is new including around the spark plugs. It has a nice set of chrome Chevrolet valve covers.

What a beautiful early 70S icon! I've always been a 50s & 60s Corvette enthusiast, but this 72 grabbed me at first glance. The color does this car very well. The black convertible top is perfect! One can truthfully say that this car is about as perfect as one can get. Not being the $100k restoration doesn't hurt this one at all. Whoever ordered it new could not have optioned it more perfectly! Great car, great presentation. Thank you for another fantastic Volo classic!

This is a real captivator Jay! The only options that I can tell just from looking that it doesn't have are the T/T steering, the passenger-side rear-view mirror and shoulder straps. No shoulder straps always as standard always baffled me in that the coupes came with them as standard. It does have the optional burglar alarm, I wonder if that works? Then again who is going to leave this Vette out of sight for any length of time.😉 Great find Jay! Save the Wave👋🏼

It's just that I'm a true Vette junkie since the 70 s and I like to listen to someone who knows C3s inside out and not some amateur salesman who's got a great Vette for sale but hasn't done his homework on certain options and specs on your cars don't take it personal I think you guys got some of the best cars for sale in the country

@@JoeJoe-gi1lx you need to have a coke and a smile. I said 4 words 'beautiful chrome bumper example', simply referring to front back chrome bumpers compared to when they changed the front in 73 no longer chrome bumper. this isn't a Bloomington Gold certification class, its an overview, loosen up dude you're wound up way too tight

It's actually the proper way to close it and it exist to this day. It's even in the Owner's Manual. Not from 2 feet or higher, but there is enough weight to drop it from 8 to 10 inches. But, did you notice how the hood bounced when Jay dropped it? THAT is not supposed to happen. Jay was correct in checking the hood pull handle to make sure it was pushed back in, but obviously that didn't work and he pushed the hood down by hand. That is a no-no. You will crack the paint that way. The hood and latching system needs to be checked. It needs more than just lubrication. There are a lot variable adjustments to "play" with to get it to close properly and there should be no need to manually push the pull handle forward to it's normal resting position.

@@petercarey6883 thanks! I own a '73 & have found there is no need to drop at all, just lay it down & push down on the driver's side first, then the passenger side last. Fiberglass ages over time. There are more than one thing in the owners manual that are no longer very smart to do.

@@jonirwin7316 I could close the hood on my '71 either way and more times than not I would close using the same procedure as you describe. Slamming or dropping anything does make me cringe. But the pins have to be in perfect alignment. If they're not and too much pressure is used, hmmm, not good. Plus, the thickness /strength/weight of the older generations is much more than the newer generations.

Another manual transmission damn it ! I had my checkbook ready to go on this one but an injury to my left leg prohibits the use of a clutch pedal. I will continue to wait.
