Wow. I'm really impressed with what I've heard here! One issue to another. I have 125K and the 2015 V40cc D3 (software tuned ) 205 hp, 470 Nm and 235 top speed is like a rocket! Last year I replaced the brake discs and after every 20K inspection and that's it.

@@kmichael1850 The only issue that I’ve had with my V40 T5 Cross Country was that the staff at Volvo noticed some corrosion on the bottom corner of the radiator. Instead of waiting for it to fail and loose all the coolant, I changed the radiator. I also swapped out the thermostat and replaced it with a new one at the same time. Regular 6 month oil and filter changes are about 7,000B Change the fuel filter every couple of years. Same with the Transmission Fluid. I have 44,000km on this car now. No plans to ever sell. If you do get a V40….. Seriously look at getting the Cross Country version. It has an extra 4cm clearance height. You don’t want to scrape the underside going over speed bumps.

Mine’s a 2014 V40 1.6 T4 bought it in 2022 with 109.000km on the clock, now 1,5 years later it has 144.000km and It runs as good as new.

1.6 hdi diesel engine which was installed in these cars, while being extremely common in plenty of other cars (Citroen, Peugeot, Ford) and extremely economical, is extremely sensitive to low quality fuel, I had to replace one of the injectors and they are quite expensive (around 800 euros a piece). Also regular service intervals are imperative on these engines. Older 5 pot diesels (D3 and D4) are much better. After the facelift the whole range (D2, D3, D4) are volvo 4 pot engines which suffer from clogged EGR valves, there was even a recall for these cars but are otherwise solid engines.

What about the automatic transmission on the euro 6 2.0L engines? Is it the same as the Ford powershift automatic?
@emirgogalic938010 ай бұрын
@@chuckman000007 no, they use Volvos own transmission (I believe its called Geatronic) and those transmissions are solid

Injectors are not that expensive - that’s made up. Mine have been all replaced and dealer paid £890 for lot including labour at Volvo dealer.

V40 245cv 2.0 T5 2017 had to change the engine starter with 150k km. Nowadays 190k km it is working okey. I've changed the timing belt, and mechanich recommended not to change water pump until malfunctioning due to possible software issues whem changing to a new one. Any other updates from V40 owners would be appreciated!

sorry, let me stop you at 1:50 and dispute the 1.6 diesel has proven itself quite well... The engine can be more troublesome than a teen growing up in a highrise. Yes, there are many thousands of these units across the world, but they suffer with coolant loss due to head or block issues, and with values of some of these car being comparable to a week in Portugal it simply isn't worth the risk putting an aging 1.6D on your drive. not when the bomb proof 2.0 D3 5 pot can be had for the same money

Another reason to avoid it is the pedestrian airbag that can inflate after light inpact with small animals provoking high loss to owner.

I have the same car and have a question for you. I was searching for a annoying noise in my car and i had (almost) removed a part from the dashboard. What I want to know is: the middle console lights up when the start/stop is pressed once without using the brake pedal. When i press the start/stop button again only the upper part is still on and the lower half of the console lights are off. Can you please check for me if you have the same? Or are the lights still on when the igniton is off. Thank you in advance. The door of the car must be closed when doing this. Because When the ignition is off and the door opens, all lights will be turned off including the navi screen.

Volvo are not good cars any more, I had a D3 C30 and that was excellent and swapped to a d4 v40 which was a terrible mistake. At 60k miles the head gasket has gone along with the clutch. Obviously poor quality but it's my error, didn't realise at the time. Wouldn't recommend.

Avoid this car as it is unreliable. 2012-2019 models have engine problems and it can blow up at any time (if they are old). It is due to oil leakage at injection piston which causes it to burn oil, build up carbon and it can lead into oils igniting the engine. This is for 2 l diesel. However, 1,6 l is even worse. I wanted to buy Oceanic Racing model which had beautiful white leather seats with blue interior. It really have a car an outstanding look. However, despite it being 2015 old car and having history of scheduled maintenance, it has 280,000 km mileage. Knowing that their engines do not last, this car is essentially just worth purchasing second hand from first owner as afterwards, you will be taking significant risk with age and mileage.
