The 5 cylinder isn't a Ford derived engine. The older 4 cylinders were a Peugeot-Ford engine but the 5 cylinders were Volvos own engine.

Stopped watching after the 1st minute where he mentions the 'Ford derived 2.4 engine'. That engine was 100% Volvo and possibly one of the very best automotive diesels ever made IMO. Not the first reviewer I've heard make this erroneous statement either.

Great video but every 5 cylinder engine has been Volvo's own design - only the 2.0 4 cylinder in the C30/S40/V50 was a Ford/PSA derived unit.

Hmmmm I had a Volvo C30 2007 model and was assured it was a Volvo engine not a ford/PSA derived unit at all. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@bigmort6916 If it was a 2.0 diesel then it was non-Volvo PSA engine. For example D5 (and D4, D3) 5 cylinder engines are Volvo made in C30, S40 and V50.

I thought the 5C engine was Volvo's own? Ford don't use a 5C diesel engine. Correct me if I'm wrong?

"Ford derived 2.4 5 cylinder", someone needs to do their homework!! Dont think I've ever seen a ford with a 2.4 5 cylinder diesel.

not sure about the 2.4 if its five cylinder or 4, but Ford and Volvo did share engines before.

I know they share engines but a 2.4 5 cylinder is not ford derived, it's a volvo engine and it's never been used in a ford. The t5 engine which again is a volvo engine has been used by ford but not the d5.

Iv got a 5 clyinder 2.4 awd xc60 it outdrags the newer 2.0 engine easily and will last yrs longer as not working as hard.. tried and tested...

Ben Wildgoose absolutely Sir, just bought a 63 reg D5 and with polestar and loads of extras, panny roof, winter pack , 20 inch titanium wheels which look and ride fab, privacy glass etc 33000 on clock, full history....for 18500 from a volvo dealership....230hp..did 44mpg to Dorset and back on mixed driving from Berkshire recently...got rid of an evoque to get it...this is in a different class...hope you enjoy yours too!

Hey there, i just paid and get in 15 days mine, Xc60 D4 with 44500 km on the clock 2.4 cc 5 cyl. i hope i did the right thing, cheers.
