I'm a Western Hunter. Hunting in high elevation for Elk, Mule Deer, Black Bear ect... And a long range Target Shooter. The Razor HD4000 is a must have in my terrain.

I saw someone on a golf course who had one of these units. He said it served him good enough. He also had a very nice Callaway driver.

The Razor HD 4000 isn't really made by Vortex, but rather Laser Tech. They also make a bunch of golf range finders which is why I thought the Razor felt so similar to my Bushnell golf rangefinder. Both units would range a target out to 953 yd at the same speed, precision, even with the same HUD.

I purchased the Vortex 1500 several years ago to use with my archery and I'm still on the same CR2 battery I installed 3 years ago. Very accurate !!!

I like how there's only a $100 difference in each model on Euro Optic. Personally, I'm leaning towards the Viper.

Been thinking about a rangefinder and KZfaq read my mind! Lol. I presently own VIPER PST II 1-6 scope and couldn’t be happier. With VIP warranty and the professional assistance I’ve experienced talking to them on the phone I will go with Vortex. No, I’m not a paid promotion. speaking from opinion only. Thanks Vortex

I live in the high desert I take 1200 yard shots from my front porch I have a bushnell 450 and I had to leap frog range all the way to the back fence with it and place markers so I can quickly get on target I been looking at the 4000 but just started researching it I’m thinking it might be my choice to dial in on the critters poking around the place

Thanks for the excellent spec's. I just ordered the Viper Razor HD 4000. I know it's more than what I need for my current hunting and target needs but I rather have the extra available for my future long range hunting packages in the future. Again you R-O-C-K!!! I also watch several of your other podcasts on KZfaq. Thanks again.

I’m in Pennsylvania and where I hunt a 200 yard shot is a rarity. That said I’m in the market for a range finder so I can get reference markers for particular spot where game is likely to enter my hunting area. The Crossfire is really all I need and I was actually looking at the older Impact model, but I like the rubberized outside of the Diamondback. I’ll have to see them in person before I decide…weight is also a consideration and I like that the Crossfire is sub 5oz.

Had a bummer experience with the Crossfire HD 1400. 3 or 4 of copies as a matter of fact. I hunt in a relatively shady area and the lower light/high contrast settings yielded odd "circuit board trace" like lines leading from the edge to the displayed range or setting each time the display would refresh. (Active scanning, cycling menu's etc) Took the retail workers a minute to find them but after a while they noticed it too on all brand new copies they tried. In the field the unit was nearly unusable as it obscured my sight picture when scanning across very dense forests that made the range update frequently (branches/stumps etc) Not sure why a mid-tier priced unit had that problem especially when other vortex models and brands didn't have anything close to that issue I ended up spending more to get the Diamondback HD because I had no choice (Try to support Vortex) but am bummed the Crossfire HD 1400 had a seeming design flaw when my budget was $200. The Diamondback HD does not have the same issue from every test I have seen.

@@rookie_hero8682 definitely odd maybe they'll get it fixed soon? If they get some feedback about it. But it'll be too late for me I just ordered a diamond back 2000 haha.

Vortex doesn't provide specs on the Razor 4000 reticle but the thing is about 25-30 MOA, which is insanely large for a long distance rangefinder and way too much beam spread to be useful at long range. To make matters worse, if I'm trying to measure a range to a light pole only about 100 yards away, I'm finding that tree branches OUTSIDE THE RETICLE are interfering with the measurements. Very displeased with the Razor 4000.

Is the 4000 made by a different company and what's the biggest selling point over the 3000?? I'm literally going to buy one today and I'm just completely torn between these 2

WHO KNEW? ......that this rangefinder works in the dark? Yesterday FEDEX brought me my new Vortex Viper 3000 HD RF Today I ranged a couple of houses across the ravine at 227 yards and a large hillside at 696 yards away. Tonight in the dark I ranged the same two locations and got approx. the same results, 227 yards and 685 yards. Am I the only one surprised that it works in the dark....Did you know?

I’m trying to understand how you can even see 1000 better yet 1400yd with a 5x magnification 300yd shots with my eotech and g33 is already tough as is I don’t even think I would be able to identify 500yd with 3x so I just don’t see how 5x or 7x is enough to actually see the maximum distance these things can range …

Is the crossfire able to handle freezing Canadian winters?
@VortexOpticsUSA
@VortexOpticsUSA 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! All batteries rely on chemical reactions to function and power the rangefinder. When the weather turns colder, those chemical reactions slow down. So it's possible, that the battery will have a tough time in the cold regardless of what model rangefinder you are running. You can battle this though by keeping the rangefinder close to your body, next to a handwarmer etc. and by using the rangefinder quickly and efficiently so it can get right back to a warmer spot. Here's a video kind of going in to depth on batteries and their performance in cold weather. But long answer short, yes the Crossfire will be able to be used in the freezing Canadian winters, but the battery may have a tough time. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/or96gclpqsnclo0.html

I've never had my Razor HD 4000 freeze on me, and the Yukon has cold temperatures all year round. Even on a March bison hunt, it fires up and does the trick. I don't keep it warm unless things are really cold. By dropping it in my jacket when I start a stalk, it'll warm up quickly enough.
@eggbert191
@eggbert191 2 жыл бұрын
@@GregMcHalesWildYukon yeah it was mostly the polymer taking the cold I'm worried about with the crossfire but even if it was a problem I know vortex would take care of it. Can't afford razor line but I'm in on this new crossfire when available. I grew up in whitehorse so I know all about those cold days.
