This is truly a game changer. The Voyager Pro is a state of the art instrument. It’s only weak point was it’s dependence on a one size fits all map. Now the door has opened up for off roaders to personalize a map of their choice and greatly enhance the user experience. Thank you for your dedication and listening to user feedback

Let's hope they add something useful. I've been terribly disapointed with the gps functionality and consider it nearly worthless. I only use the time, mileage and altitude readings. I should have just purchased a RAM mount for my cell phone.

The VPs gps is awesome. The limited map has been the achilles’ heel for most Garmin users. My VP is very accurate and speedy on every gps guided event I’ve been on. The gps on the VP or Garmin Oregon is superior to any cell phones gps. In fact, comparing gpx tracks, the VP might be more accurate than the Oregon 700

This new feature will allow you to make the base maps look like virtually anything you want and include the ability to load "paper" type Georeferenced maps. This greatly extends the usefulness and configurability of the Voyager Pro GPS. Within the Caltopo.com map tools you can define base maps, build routes, drop waypoints, define areas and many other functions. Once you have your map built exactly how you like it you simply export a MBtile and load it into Voyager Pro and it looks just like what you built on the screen. This should allow you to do almost anything you need with Voyager Pro in how it displays. There is even a opacity slider so you can make your loaded map semi transparent. We hope this will elevate your functionality issue. Thank you, Trail Tech.

@@trailtechinc This sounds great. When do you expect to launch it?

@@dannuthals7045 two to three weeks but their webmaster takes about that long to update simple text info so expect a little more time.

Fingers crossed that the "Base Maps" functionality is useful. I have been hugely disappointed by Trail Tech's Rideleader website. When I purchased my Voyager Pro from TT, their website and marketing materials proudly touted their Rideleader website as the go-to place to find GPS maps from users around the country. This was a major reason why I purchased a Voyager Pro in the first place. This website, as every user knows, has largely been a complete bust. Don't know if the Base Map functionality is meant to replace that. I guess time will tell. Fingers crossed...

Sorry about your disappointments regarding RideLeader. We have been advertising the use of CalTopo for a while now. Great features, does more than RideLeader did and now you can use it to build a base map to look like whatever you want. Tutorials coming soon. Thank you.

Before I spend more money on yet another mapping platform, (Avenza for reference, COTREX for Colorado trips, and now Gaia for overlay map building. Cant I just do the same thing on my Gaia account and add it to my VP? Another uh $20 or $50 for Caltopo? Huh

Where in the HELL are the instructions to add georeferenced pdfs? Not in the user manual, not in the user guide, and certainly not on your youtube channel. You seriously need to add more info on HOW to make maps to use with your products, not simply dump a link to caltopo on your website.
@bbieger23 жыл бұрын
two weeks, no reply. It appears that you can NOT simply dump geopdf's onto the unit, you have to convert them to geotiles... which now costs money on caltopo.
