I completely forgot about this version of original Castlevania game and after reading a comment to previous video I decided to finally record the playthrough. What can I say about it... Well, it's basically same as on NES but with slightly different colors, and higher difficulty. Enemies now give much more damage starting from 4 on 'Easy' dip switch setting. On hard you get two hit per life because every foe does 8 (!!!) points of damage starting from the very first stage. Also the timer here gives much less time on first three stages. This is playthrough of first loop on 'Hard' setting withoud dying. Well, I could say that it was very very hard for me to record it but considering that I made a no damage playthrough of entire NES game some time ago... No, unaltered Castlevania is unlikely to give me too many problems even on this difficulty. I think, I'll check some other version of CV1 soon. At the very least I want to have DOS version on my channel but I'll try to record other versions as well.

Imagine that on 3rd+ loops all enemies kill Simon in one hit and all candles and breakable blocks yield nothing other than money bags, treasure chests and moai heads.

I first played this at a Showbiz Pizza in 1987 and became hooked so I got my parents to get me a NES shortly there after for my 8th Birthday and got every game I could ever since even a Sega for Bloodlines

Watching your video has helped me get through the areas I was having difficulty beating. Thank you for uploading the video!

Impressive. I've played this game so many times and couldn't be as elusive as you were.

I find no damage runs to be more impressive than speedruns, since the latter category highly depends on glitches and exploits. I still respect the hell out of speedrunners for their dedication and planning though.

As long as you understand the mechanics, this should be resonable in terms of challenge? I belive you said it's no different than og nes cv. Hmmm, wonder why this was never ported.

4 damage to start on easy and goes up. Hard 2 hits your dead. Medusa heads can be insane with spawning.

You liar, if this is a no death video then what do you call 13:13? :p

Glad I didn't buy this on Switch. No point when I already paid $7 for the Anniversary Collection

People really need to stop playing this game with the Holy Water. It removes too much of the difficulty and the bosses become a joke. Hardly any challenge at all.

I already completed CV in one life without using subweapons at all. I have the right to use as much holy water as I desire.))))

@@ArekTheDragon You're free to use the Holy Water as much as you want. It's just not all that impressive. Can you beat the game without using subweapons and taking any damage? Can you beat the game without upgrading the whip, without subweapons, and without dying?
@ArekTheDragon5 жыл бұрын
@@bubufubu Can't say why but I am starting to dislike your tone. No Damage, no subweapons for entire game - unlikely. No upgrades, no subweapons - possible but only if uprades are not dropped randomly from enemies (Death fight is nearly impossible to do because of it).

@@ArekTheDragon I'm not sure why you are talking about tone. This is typed print. You can't hear my voice or see my body language. I'm simply sharing my thoughts with you about how easy this game is when Holy Water and multipliers are used. Perhaps pointing it out upsets you, but it's the truth. As far as the challenges I listed, they require the player to actually study enemy behavior, have an excellent memory, and be on point with their execution.
@ArekTheDragon5 жыл бұрын
@@bubufubu The point of talking about tone is just to imply that your post seems a little too hostile. And really? You tell me to learn patterns? I think I've done enough both here and on Shadowserg's channel to at least make an impression that as little as I know about this game, I am able to complete most of reasonable challenges and know behavior of some enemies here. And I am not doing this to impress anyone. If I wanted, I would upload my shmup boss runs.
