Hi All,
I have had this request a few times so I finally go around to making the video.
Big shout out to the admins over at the VTOL Wiki pages. They do great work, and there is an absolute wealth of information on there. The screenshots of the Icon descriptions are taken directly from their pages on the RWR system. So if you want to know more about the RWR and the short code identifiers, you should go check it out at vtol-vr.fandom.com/
As always, a big thank you to all of those people who have (and continue to) show support for my videos. All the likes, comments and subscriptions let me know you want me to continue making more.
Blue skies!

I've learned doing a slow barrel roll then a dive will force it into a steep turn when it's about 5 miles out (dumping chaff at the dive evade) works well

@theswagman1263 lol genuinely don't remember what the MAD 4 is atm (haven't played in a bit). If it's the SAM, I was usually running SEAD operations so I'd have my targeting pod locking it. If it's the Air to Air missile, it's judging based off the terrain

5:11 As a little note I was trying to teach a friend things about radar in the game and he couldn't see the diamond. We could not figure out why I could always see it and he wasn't able to. If you are not able to, you need to go to your ARAD and make sure HUD is ON. I had no idea that was what toggled it.

Hey Ferret, thanks for the tutorial! Been thinking of making some tutorials about other aspects of the game, hoping to match your level of quality. Quick questions, how do you do the zoomed in shots of each of the screens while also capturing your head view? My intuition would be that you have the S-Cam on a second screen, are recording both screens, and have the in-game s-cam camcorder pointed at the front panel. Something along those lines?

This is pretty much it. Just remember that the MFDs are square and the display is 16:9 when you are setting the camera up. It will cut off some of what’s displayed on your second screen

It’s very good. I also ply DCS with a HOTAS and it’s nice having so much control at your fingertips, but VTOL has a very good balance between simplicity and enough controls to make it very immersive. Feeing like your actually pressing the buttons on the instruments instead of clicking with a mouse add a lot to the immersion. The stick and throttle are also forgiving of position once you grab them so you can rest your arms on arm rests or rest them on your legs. It’s definitely a must for VR imo

Seems I have some sort of issue in the game, everytime I mark something on the ARAD (I get a square around the icon). The square isn't visible anywhere in the world itself. In this footage once you marked a target you get to see a nice square to see exactly where it is once you look outside, in my game that isnt there. The crosshair of my AGM-88 does snap to the place where it is, but the square is just not visible. This makes some missions where the AGM-88 is disabled extremely difficult since I have to find all radar signals by using the TGP manually. My helmet is down and HUD and HMCS are both on because I can perfectly see the crosshair snap to the correct position. Is this bugged or changed in an update? This is with both the T55 and the F26

Nice vid! Helped me a lot. But I'm having trouble with something. My visor is lowered, HMCS is on, and the HUD option in the ARAD is also on. Instead of seeing small diamonds in the HUD which mark the almost exact spot from where the signals come from, I see the type of signal in the HUD, but floating on top of the actual spot from where the signal actually comes from, which makes determining the exact spot hard. Example: Seeing this, "floating" in your HUD: . It's theoretically on top of the spot from where the signal comes from, but is very hard to determine it, and I have to find it with the TGP, making me loose time in situations where I have to be targetting and firing quickly. Any help is appreciated!

So, what is the difference between ARAD and radar? I always use radar for my AIM120
@TheFerretsWheels
@TheFerretsWheels Жыл бұрын
Radar is a signal that is emitted then reads the reflected signal that comes back. ARAD (anti radiation attack display) shows just radar signals (no emitter) allowing you to lock onto them to deploy anti radiation munitions

I wish you could defend against AIM120 using ARAD missiles. I mean, they're emitting their own radar, right?
@cjs4886
@cjs4886 11 ай бұрын
@@Hamachingo in theory you could, but the missile only emits its own radar signal once it goes pitbull and ARAD missiles are generally less agile than A2A missiles, so for best chance of success you would need to be head on to the missile and ready on the ARAD and trigger to fire your shot so it isn’t very practical

It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious.
