VW Amaroks Taking on the WET! CREB Track Sept 2015

This is part 1 of our trip to Cape York in Sept 2015
CREB Track - Cairns Regional Electricity Board, basically a track for power line inspections.
We were warned not to attempt in the wet, they were right.
hardest days 4wheelin i have ever done!
The forecast was for clear weather and the track was open (closed when wet!) when we arrived, even though there was a light drizzle.
Watch to the end to see the damage done
Amarok has a 35mm front lift with Dobinson Springs, rear 25mm lift, Bilstein B6 Shocks, 16inch Alloys with Bridgestone D674 MT's

All these people whinging about 'damaging the track' get over it, I reckon it looked awesome and fun mate well done on the video. I'm doing it next year sometime so hopefully it's as fun as this video looked. Cheers.

You've convinced me. I won't buy an amarock, that effort is why tracks get locked. Damaging the track doesn't impress.

I think you should do some research on that track, no truck would of walked that in the wet

Track was open, it is closed if it is considered to be to dangerous to drive. Do your reasearch before commenting

@@LifesTooShort track is open rain is falling pehaps think maybe not. You don't have the equipment to tackle it properly nor the skills or the attitude of a responsible 4wder. Do your research before tackling and damaging the track, helping to cause it to be closed, commenting, damaging your gear. The woman foot flat to the boards, sawtoothing the steering wheel to find traction, damaging the track. That's the perfect moment to say yeahnaaah, lets go back or get some help, it's only gonna get harder

firstly thanks for your comments. I am not from Brisbane, nor were we unprepared or inexperienced. look at the first pic in the video, the track was open. We also called the local authorities and were advised it was still open and we were ok to proceed. As to the vehicles being unprepared - my vehicle may look unprepared but i assure you it was fully equipped the second vehicle more so, both vehicles were lifted, i was running MT's vehicle 2 aggressive AT's A full recovery kit was in each vehicle (and unused for recovery on this track) second spares, track building equipment and a weeks worth of food and supplies were on board both vehicles. Vehicle 2 also had a winch. Unprepared i think not! Granted had we known it was going to be that hard we would have turned back, however by the time we had reached the first major climb we were already well committed, there was no turning back, the climbs out would have been the same if not worse. I 100% percent agree - if its raining forget about it, lesson learned. Let this video be a warning to others who attempt it in the wet.

any reason you didnt take chains as insurance in the wet? Also what PSI in the tyres? The only thing to get you traction in clay mud is chains ime.

Never heard of chains used in mud, interesting! Tyres where all around 25psi at the start we dropped lower on the harder bits

There is a reason why they say don't go on the Creb Track if it has been raining. People like you are the reason why more and more tracks are being closed down.
