The 1958 Vw Beetle ragtop revival continues with heater channel replacement. This rusty Vw Bug needs a lot of metal work, let's weld in some new steel. Next Vids we will finish the A & B pillars and weld in a new inner fender well. .
I found this forgotten old car sitting in a garage a few years ago. It had been sitting in a field before and the Volkswagen Beetle was pulled from it's soon to be grave. Follow along on the journey of the restoration videos as this car will be back on the streets.

It's great to see more progress, Jason. It's going to be awesome to see that puppy when she's cruising! Even though Larry doesn't approve of some repairs, I'm sure it's not that far off. You guys are doing a great job, I'm enjoying every minute of it!

Looking good Jason always remember clean nozzle correct wire speed and heat adjustment you shouldn't hear all this spuddery splattery noise when your welding the surface isn't clean enough or something to do with the before mentioned. I used to use a nozzle spray as well and never try to clean the nozzle by beating it to death on something no bueno 😁👍

This is great too see and better is the constant crackling (like frying bacon) of your welds and seeing the heat getting the penetration in the steel. I'm glad Larry is helping and guiding you. Perfect was when Larry got good ground and you tacked something after and I hear whoa, yet a good ground is crucial. You're doing great with this car, it's gonna be an instant classic. Currently I an repairing both my rear quarters on the Impala. So much welding. Cut and butt is the best way to repair body panels. I'm looking forward to driving my Impala up to see you and your toys, especially that Camaro. I have my eyes on that car. Hope you still have it. Take care my friend, always good to see new videos from you. The ending is a real tease.

Well there is always a grinder!.....Those inner pan welds are the hardest to penetrate. Those plugs you really need the heat up because there is double layer underneath. Otherwise they can pop off. Best to almost burn a hole. The Pan sheet metal should be melting holes in it to get the underneath hot enough to stick. (double layer 18 gauge)

A welding class at your local junior College or voc Ed center is really cheap, easy, only requires a couple hours a week AND imagine the money in grinding wheels, grinders, having to cut back out and redo a section time that you'll save plus be much more confident that the welds you're putting down won't fail shortly after you sell or trade of whatever you're working on.. Migs make welding look easy but also allows many failures due to deceptive looking welds..
