VW Bus Restoration Part 25: Exterior is Painted! Also undercoating...

In this video, I show the finish shots of the the Tamco AG series single stage paint on the body and doors. I also apply the remaining Raptor truck bed lining inside the fenders and the undercarriage.

Looks so good! Do you have any advice on scraping the dirt, grime and the original undercoating before applying the raptor? I don't have the lift and working mainly outdoors.

Thank you! My process for prepping the undercarriage was: sandblasting, let it flash rust, sand & degrease, apply POR15 rust inhibitor paint, (once dry) sand and degrease again, then raptor. You can check out Part 1, 2, and 20 on my playlist, kzfaq.info/sun/PLq6fTBrWkVi6eueE-cGf4ir_afpxDLLzj

If later you want to do a two tone painting, can you paint over the existing or do you have to sand/prime the area again?

Just like I did on the roof, I would have to sand it back to 400 grit to reshoot. It's certainly possible, but my thought with just a single color is that I can add a vinyl wrap as my lower color over the paint rather than reshoot it. Nice thing about a wrap is I can change it out if I ever get sick of it easier than repainting.

Watch my previous video, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdp5adFpltCUlqM.html, to get an idea of how much coverage you get from a single 24 ounce (almost 1 liter) bottle. It's a little easier to see from the top of the floor. If you are just doing the fenders and side areas like I showed; that is two bottles. My suggestion is to buy the 4 bottle kit because it comes with a free spray gun: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CKE7B1E
