Volkswagen Golf Mk1 models in 1/43 in my collection.
VW Golf is now 50 years old car model. It was pretty modern looking car in 1974 when it was introduced, front wheel drive Hatchback and started long lasting model name, which exists even today, 50 years later. Currently VW Golf is in it's 8th generation, and I've actually made a video about that already:

Thanks 👍 I guess VW Golf Mk1 was known in US as VW Rabbit. Next I'll do an answer to everyday car challenge in 1/64, started by The Quirky Garage 1999, then continuing with 1/43 VW Golf models.

Thank you very much for these kind words 🙂 Indeed tried to show how modern the Golf looked at the time compared to some other contemporary cars, but there was already some other modern looking front wheel drive Hatchbacks, like Fiat 127 and Renault 5, altough they were probably slightly smaller than Golf.

Thank you very much :) I like VW Golf as well. it's indeed a classic by now. Still the current 8th gen Golf has kind of resemblence to the original Mk1 Golf, while being very modern and up to date car.

that green color on the hatchback look very early MK1 but I can tell that it's a facelift by the taillights , bumper and steering wheels

Yes, it's the facelifted Golf Mk1, would be nice if Minichamps would release the original 1974 version Golf as well.

So nice models. I am totally loving the old rims wheels with chrome center caps. Totally loving the Cabriolet especially in this pre-facelift variation in red. Later with the painted full plastic bumpers it was still cool (especially when considering it was even built when there was the VW Golf II) but the old ones are just even more classic especially when being such original (which nowadays is mostlikely only seen as model car because it's a miracle to find an old Golf without tuning wheels and lowered chassis). For my Audi I also still have the old steel rims with the chrome center caps. But the caps aren't looking too nice (dent here and there and the rims are rusty, haha, and unfortunately not with the rectangular holes). Asked a car painter about to put rust away and to re-paint them but he wanted 200 Euros per rim ... it was too expensive for my taste. At the end I got my wafer alloys for 200 Euro (all four together). It's looking even better with these original alloys. But I am not throwing away the old steel rims.

Thank you, glad you like these models, and happy to have these indeed :) Original condition indeed gives nice new car vibes to the appearance, wheels included. Rusty steel wheels are probably a lot of work to restore back in new looking condition, but perhaps cheaper option for at least improved look would be wire brushing the rust away with drill etc. power tool. Then it might be good idea to check if they are straight and balanced, so they could be potentially fixed before painting and finishing them. Then spray paint the rims with original looking colour, usually silver paint, clearcoating, buffing and finishing it like any other car paint. I guess professonials have other methods to remove rust maybe chemically and maybe powdercoat the rims to finish them, looks of course amazing even it's most likely quite expensive. At the very least it's really good idea to keep those original steel rims, they probably aren't too easy to find these days anymore 👍

@@modelcarfinn The painter wanted to unrust it with sandblaster. It actually would even be cheap to sandblast it. But I was wondering why the paint job itself is this expensive. I'll also keep the steel rims in case I will completely ruin the alloys at some time ... to still find these alloys is already hard enough. And I bet I won't get 4 pcs for 200 Euro again.

@@BFDdrives Sand blasting is probably the best method for removing rust. Maybe lasting paint job for steel rims isn't cheap, but diy spray paint job may last for a while as well, especially if the car is not driven in salty winter roads. Anyway, those alloy wheels you have look good and period correct too :)

@@modelcarfinn Assuming the painter would have done the job perfectly with primer, etc ... that's why it's then so expensive. The alloys were original for the car. I saw them on the sticker in the trunk. And there was also mentioned that these are the only alloys using the same hubnuts like the steel rims. So it was perfect, hehe.
