Modifying rear door cards in Volkswagen #GolfMK7 to have partial ambient illumination behind door handle and warning light under the door. I’m aiming to match OEM front #ambient LED so my cars interior is consistent. Sadly there was no factory option for rear doors to #retrofit and I will have to make my own installation.
ℹ️ I’m using white LEDs which I found in Audi Q7 daytime running lights module. I bought some SMD LEDs for this project but was not satisfied with color output. It was either too warm or too cold.
ℹ️ Warning lights that I’ve selected require some modification to the door card. It’s share will not allow the light to be installed. It was necessary to remove part of the plastic frame.

Good luck! I would like to retrofit LED strip as well but right now I don’t have enough time and space to disassemble the decorative trim.

If only I had a garage I would do it. But currently I don't have a safe space to work on such time consuming mods. Maybe spring/summer 2021.

Is it possible to do the ambient lighting yourself with the leds mentioned in your previous video? Like use the orginal locations (under doorhandle e.t.c) and wire it to terminal58? to have it dimmed and used as ambient lighting? Or maybe wire the leds to the switch of the window switch? for power and dimming?

Hello, Can I turn around the wires on an MK7 Golf steering wheel aswel (Like Polo AW), this to create red backlighting on the buttons for retro fit in golf 6. Would love it if you knew the answer.

That's really my fault. I bought lights that were fitted originally in Passat B8 assuming that it will also fit Golf MK7. There are some aftermarket lights with different shape (and brighter LEDs) that don't require any modification to the door card.

@@mrfixpl how did you wire the rear door exit lights? As I saw on my car (12.2014 Golf 7) I don’t have option to program it.

Witaj, mam dwa pytania : Z czego dałeś ten LED pod nogi + czerwony odblask ? Kupiłem chińczyka i niestety za mocny LED i czerwone wyglada jak róż. ;) Dwa co za diodę wstawiłeś pod klamkę ? Tak by przypominał natężeniem przód ? Dzięki za info :)

@@luiginapolitano4775 I was planning to wire it to the front door control module so all ambient elements are controlled via Infotainment.

@@mrfixpl yes so should you do. the problem is that the wiring is not there. so this has to go from the bcm to the rear port connector

@@luiginapolitano4775 well, there's wiring from the front door module to the ambient elements (4-pin connector). I'm planning to connect over there.

@@carlosb68 I checked a lot of LEDs and couldn't find ones with correct color. Too warm, too cold, too blue... Finally I took apart headlight from an Audi Q7 and used DRL LEDs that were installed there. I have only few pieces left so I'm still looking for perfect LEDs that I can just buy.
