I really like the rental model that's available for the ID vehicles in the UK at least. The ID3 is like £400 a month for 3 years, then you just give the car back and get a new one, servicing included and you don't have to worry about depreciation or battery longevity or anything. Completely removes the upfront cost of an EV and means you don't need to worry about being stuck with a car that's worth nothing at the end.

Nice video - best view of the AR display I‘ve seen so far. Can‘t wait for my upgrade (ID.3 Tech). I think this is really a good thing and an advantage compared to other cars.

Wow the green line seems like a very good feature. Would really help people to get more distance between them and the car in front.

I think the only thing i'd change is the blue chevrons pointing left or right, they should flash and start to grown until you get into the correct lane to do the actual turn. But other than that, its pretty good. Until this video i really didn't see much use for a HUD, just thought it was just a bit of a gimmick but the navigation makes it really useful.

In the video you can definitely see the area on the windshield where the HUD will reflect off of, it's just slightly darker than the rest of the windshield.

But the blind spot warning should also be there in front (addtionally to a spot on the mirrors), because some people would just look streight ahead at the big head up display to not miss anything and tbey would blindly go one lane right or left (before a traffic light) when the car tells them to do so.

Super cool futuristic feature. Nice range, quiet, perfect LED matrix. I won’t hesitate to exchange my Passat GTE with ID3 if the interior had a premium feel. Unfortunately it doesn’t. I hope that the premium interior package will be optional in next version.

Nice video. I’m looking forward to getting our ID4 in a month or so when deliveries start. Nice to get a sense of how the features work now. Is the travel assistant reliable or does it bounce from side to side? Does the phone app work? The app for the Passat GTE has been pretty useless so I hope they have improved!

That is very clever it’s technology is getting better and better hopefully car manufacturers will advance even better with the batteries and charging times that’s what they should be concentrated on

This is really cool and should be a feature in every car. I'm also glad, that they figured out how to project on the windscreen directly and not having a separate glas thing come out of the dash like in the Tiguan for example :)

I wonder if it will work with Waze when Apple Carplay / Android Auto gets support. Is it worth not using Polarized shades in the day time? It will probably only come with the heavy glass roof that I'd rather skip anyway. Otherwise Its really cool.

is AR available on all models as an option? The various versions, and bundled ‘packs’ that are popular with makers these days confuse me. There are a few specific higher end features I’d like (like AR) but don’t need others so would prefer to keep the costs as low as possible

Ok, that is pretty cool! I just posted on another video that I was turned off by the lack of one pedal driving on the ID.4, but I might just have to give it another look.

The green lines indicating where the lines are don't show up at my ID.3.... Just the orange ones when I come near to them. Also the navigation arrows don't work on roundabouts. Sometimes it sees the roundabout as a turn to the right... (which it isn't), but that's all it does with roundabouts. I hope there will be a future update to fix these issues.

I dont get it. I have an e golf. It has lane assist and adaptive cruise control. So I have these features, except from the navigation. But it doesnt pop up in the window, and it seems a bit annoying with these pop ups... is it possible to turn off? Planning on ordering an id4.

How about HUD image visibility with polarized sunglasses? Is the VW windshield still based on wedge-glass technology?

How is the navigation? I think this AR is awesome, but I typically will use CarPlay for navigation as google maps is usually better than the OEM map and this has wireless CarPlay. So I am not sure which map service I would end up using.

Still pretty impressive even though I had seen it in the Enyaq 2 months ago during the introduction event in cs. Since then I am head over heels in love with the Enyaq. Hard to achieve but bigger Symbols or clearer ones are needed - especially for all handicapped persons.

Do we as drivers really need all this, i can see people spending far too much time looking at the HUD than actually looking at the hazards ahead, pulling across in front of a cyclist or motorcyclist, driving up the inside of a large truck which is turning left or right (when their eyes and brain would say hang back and wait, or judging their braking based on when the horizontal line tells them theres a truck in front and they need to slow down, rather than just looking at what they can already clearly see. If you need orange and green lines on a HUD to help keep you in a lane, your not look ahead far enough in the first place. People need to stop and realise, you are the driver, not the car, dont use the car tech to tell you how to drive, use your eyes and learnt knowledge. How many times do you see people blindly following gps instructions and getting confused about what junction or road they need to take, because they have failed to actually read the road signs, or moving to the outside lane on a slip road, when the road signs clearly instruct you to use the inside lane, etc, etc.

I wish VW would make this available in the US also...

I don’t have this on my VW ID.4 - it is a 2021 model Pro-S from Germany. Will the software update make it happen? I doubt it.

Does the id-Light and AR-navigation work if you are using navigation through your smartphone? I assume they do not.

Can you also turn the HUD off? Or is it there all the time?

ID4 in the US doesn't seem to have HUD it seems ;/

Google Glass was ahead if it's time. Why in the windshield, when the car can transmit it into the driver's glasses?

Why isn’t this available in the US? I even asked the dealer, since my last car had it and I loved it, and he said Volkswagen doesn’t have it.
