VW Syncro Diesel Doka Tour!

Жыл бұрынI bought a new truck! Well, new to me. I am also a masochist, so the truck I bought is a 1990 VW Syncro Doka. Doka is short for DoppelKabine or Double Cabin. There were very few made and most have been imported by individuals.
Syncro Transaxles are made of glass, velociraptor foreskin, hope, and disappointment. However, this truck is my unicorn! I have wanted it for YEARS. It has a Turbo Diesel engine, the paint & interior are perfect, and it is already set up to be my new work truck!

Yep, thats me! It was on the street because we were moving in. Doka and van moved with us. Will be around on Saturday if you want to stop by.

@@MattofManyTrades Cool. Welcome to the neighborhood! I’ll try and swing by at some point. My Son is a fan of the Doka and spotted your truck and your channel sticker. Don’t see many here despite this being the VW bus capital. Sorry if this seems sorta stalkerish. Totally unintended. Guess it’s a VW guy thing. Haha.

That is the plan! I will just be there all day Saturday though. With the new baby, I can’t be out all weekend. Will come in early and leave after they judge the mess kit entries - am making one.

sick dude, happy for ya! looks like an AHU tdi with a mechanical pump. she needs a 1.6 boost pin and and manual boost controller now !

It is the 1Z. Supposed to be the ALH. Now has the 1.6 pin and excuse temp & boost gauge in cab.

Mandatory forged hitch is ridiculous! In all my *_decades_* hauling trailers, I've never had an issue with a welded hitch and I'm usually hauling heavy loads like: bobcat, rock, wood, equipment, etc.

I agree for the most part. It limited the usefulness and adaptability of a receiver set up. I have read where it is a tool to remove the idiot factor. I can’t tell you how many hitch related accidents I have seen: wrong size ball, no safety chains, tiny pin holding the hitch in…. My favorite was a trailer still attached to the boat about 10 years ago. The guys kid pulled the cotter pin and chains and in the lake it went 😁

Probably too late but my dmv guy in Oregon just glanced at the vin plate under the windshield and passed it. Might be worth going to another dmv and giving them a try. I went to the one in bend. Either way this thing is beautiful!

thanks. the issue was the vin plate... I got it worked out, but it took some doing.
