Adam delivered us his VW Tuareg for some major service. He came down from Bristol to the West Midlands to sort out everything what's needed. After the car was delivered he did mention some oil leaks which was a bit unexpected extra work , but the engine was coming out anyway for timing chain replacement . Meanwhile the engine was out and we did this .....
We used Y2Mate music in this video

Great example of how service done in time leaves positive experience to the owner and mechanics. Inside of the engine was a good proof as well of oil changes done in proper time witch is key in longevity of the engine. Even tho i'm not a fan of vw engineering from early beginnings of the v6 diesel but it's a solid proof that it's usable with proper maintenance. Thank you for sharing.

An '06 ASB and a '15 CTBA with nothing major apart from injectors, swirl flaps and EGR on the former and injectors on the latter. *Touch wood.. Change your oil with 507.00 regularly (like 6k)! Beautiful engines, especially the later one. *Touch wood again.

I appreciate the engineering talent to do all this work. But I Think it’s shame on VW that such an amount of work needs to be done at less than 100,000 miles, and the work is so complex.
@markkauffman6184
@markkauffman6184 Жыл бұрын
I agree completely. They mention that it is nothing for one of these engines to go 100,000 miles but I don’t consider that very reliable if you have to spend $6000 every hundred thousand miles for timing chains and fixing a whole bunch of oil leaks.
@ow-my-achilles1106
@ow-my-achilles1106 Жыл бұрын
@@markkauffman6184 Buy a VW and oil leaks are included at no charge. 😂.. I have a 13 Touareg TDI and have oil leaks. Front crank seal has been replaced under warranty, as well as water pump, and EGR cooler leak (sloooowwwww coolant leak), but I think my oil filter housing is also leaking, plus suspect a tired hydraulic chain tensioner(I have had startup rattle for years), other than those nuisance leaks, it runs perfectly. 127,000 miles. Still least expensive to own car I have ever had. Plan on keeping it going another 10 years. There is no replacement .
@markkauffman6184
@markkauffman6184 Жыл бұрын
@Ow-My-Achilles You probably don't want to hear my story then. 2012 Camry 216000 miles, nothing more than changing filters, oil, tires and brakes. The only exception to that was the torque converter which was covered under warranty at 140000 miles.
@ow-my-achilles1106
@ow-my-achilles1106 Жыл бұрын
@@markkauffman6184 My mother has a 2002 Corolla still going with over 168,000 miles (last I checked). Just regular maintenance. I also had a 2003 4Runner for exactly 10 years (121,000 miles) and is was bulletproof reliable and easy to do regular maintenance. Toyota has a great reputation for reliability for a reason. BUT unfortunately my needs changed, and no 4Runner can tow a 6000 pound toy hauler. Not designed to do it and under powered for it. My Touareg has a spec tow rating of 7700 pounds, and there are no diesel options from Toyota in the US. This means that a Toyota Tundra or Sequoia that might do the towing job when needed, but would cost a fortune to buy and drive when not towing a trailer. So reality is to buy the vehicle that can best meet all your needs. If I had no reason t tow, or carry a motorcycle hitch carrier, or live where AWD in Winter is required, then I would choose a small car like a Corolla or RAV4. Unlikely in my near future.

If you have not heard of it, there is a flame-less heat gun called the mini-ductor 2 by Induction Innovations. They have a few different models but the MiniDuctor 2 is the most common. It is a fantastic tool for stubborn exhaust bolts/nuts, suspension, etc etc... I have not been disappointed with mine, however i have noticed it will time out on larger bolts. They also make the "Venom" model which is more powerful i believe...
