I have a Sub behind the drivers seat in my Transporter camper and it feels great on my back. I had to put foam in the port as it was hurting my left ear. I can't hear it that well from the back but I generally don't have the system on then anyway. Yes, putting speakers up high in the van and also my smaller wagon has made a huge improvement. Thanks Peter for all the advice and demos.

The size of that van must be very similar to my Lincoln Navigator, which is a full size SUV. Whenever I take measurements with a microphone up front and any type of sub in the rear storage area I get smooth response up to 45 hz (which also happens to be the peak frequency of the vehicle) and then it radically drops off. 60hz is a good 15 to 18 dB down. This forced me to also mount a second, smaller subwoofer up front to fill in for the upper bass. I've heard that if you can take up some of the interior air volume, like with a really large subwoofer enclosure, you can raise the rolloff point higher. I may also add a partition to separate the rear storage area from the seating area. It would be a radical move, but I really want my large rear sub to play higher. I'd be happy if it could play up to 60 hz. I'm not exactly clear on the effect causing this to happen. I'm guessing it's some form of cancellation going on. Do you have any insight on the cause of this and if a vehicle can be modified to extend the upper bass response on a rear-mounted sub?

It is simply due to the length of the car and the wave reflecting back from the front windshield to the driving position. You can only have smooth extension up higher from the trunk in short cars. Check out the “front sub Pssound” videos which go into fine detail why we support the idea of a front sub.

@Peter - looks like you worked around the grab handle bracing in the A-pillars - was it an option to put the midrange above the bracing and the tweeter just below it? or is that too close to head for stage depth/ high for integration? Currently elbow-deep in a VW Crafter 3way active build, 8" front sub in the kickwell, 2x10 in the rear (woofers in doors regretably). Considering putting the mid and tweets higher above the grab handles, as (1) seating position is high so nearer ear level, PLUS (2) both front seats turn around for the sitting area in the camper, so if placed low the mids and tweets get blocked more by the seats. Any strong views?

Hi Pete. Did i hear that correctly at the end there, that you guys are now offering a remote tuning service?
@pssound97493 ай бұрын
No, not remote, just onsite tuning, sorry.

I like Kicker, American made where possible and affordable, but always kinda flat sound. Aka boring. That said, I'm gonna rebuild my doors with the shallow mount 8s cuz it fits good airspace.

Any recomendstrion for a A-pillar midrange? Preferable on a budget?

Dayton has 3.5 4ohm at 60 watts, otherwise just buy that carbon cone that everyone markets(ds18) .

Peter does helix ones for around £130. I bought a pair from him and have them installed in a modified dash waiting to go into my car! Just been busy and not got around to fitting the entire dash yet!

I took a plunge on these: Hertz MP 70.3 PRO midrange speaker (70 mm). Not exactly cheap, but small:)
