Pre-order "Golgotha" here: shop.napalmrecords.com/wasp
US customers: www.napalmrecordsamerica.com/s...
iTunes: smarturl.it/GolgothaDL
On Golgotha, W.A.S.P. are staying true to the biblical horror stories they employed on Babylon (2009): the name-giving place of skulls is the hill Jesus Christ was crucified upon. Faithful Blackie Lawless fans had to wait for new material for six years - and this album was damn well worth the wait! Golgotha follows the path that was established with Babylon and Dominator and is soaring to new heights with highly melodic metal anthems that also feature balladesque moments. A timeless slab of music that proves once more how important W.A.S.P. are to our scene!

In 1984 I wore my WASP shirt proud and took verbal and some physical abuse from jocks, preps and punks. I learned to stand tall and proud for my beliefs and to not back down and I owe some of that to Blackie. Today I still stand with WASP and this is the best album in a long time. Blackie just keeps pumping out solid records.

The fact that WASP are still able to put music out is the bomb! I didn't expect to see or hear from them after their 30 years tour. For me, being a fan since the mid 80's I am just grateful that music which meant so much to me as a teen is still here with me now. I heard a couple of years ago that Blackie Lawless had become Christian, just like Alice Cooper did years before him. I think it is great that he has courage to make his own decisions. As a child I used to enjoy the album "The Last Command", as well as the first album a couple years later. Last weekend I listened to the albums "The Headless Children" and "The Crimson Idol" for the very first time. I have to say that after listening those two albums you cannot say that all the W.A.S.P. albums sound exactly the same. The first two albums are very much "In Your Face" style metal, THC and TCI have many songs with a deeper meaning. I don't know how I have managed to avoid those two albums until know because they are as good as the first WASP albums. This song doesn't sound anything like those albums I have heard from W.A.S.P. I haven't still listened any of their songs since The Idol but you may know better. Oh well...OK now I remember I have heard also Still Not Black Enough but I really didn't like it on those days. Christianity is very good. If all the men and women were Christians we would already live in Heaven.

I don't care if people think it sounds like this or that. Maybe it reminds them of many things W.A.S.P. has done before - So F**king what. The same applies to any true musician who has found their(his(hers sound... - but look at all the electronicas out there - they're stealing things from the 50s and 60s these dys - JUST to make through on their own creativity.... CRAP! I love THIS band for their honesty - and NEVER to give in to THAT - They've got THEIR sound! FINITO! - This is TRUE MUSIC - same with KISS - never really gave up their thing , neither did IRON MAIDEN (And they have several "similar-looking" songs to their name...but Who the hell cares... THey are AWESOME!)...I could on...but right now, I'm enjoying the sounds of this particular W.A.S.P.-tune yet again or f**k off people :)

This is one of the best songs I've heard in quite a while. And the reason is quite simple - it's a simple, straight forward, rock/ metal song which is catchy and memorable. That's what drew me to metal & rock 35 years ago. There was an energy about it that other kinds of music didn't have. Last time I really listened to WASP was around the time they had just released 'The Crimson Idol', yep, quite a long time ago. Around that time I had gotten myself into bother with drink and drugs and slowly lost my own sense of identity. It's like losing yourself and forgetting who you are or were. Anyway, nearly 15 years have gone by since I quit all that but I'm still piecing the bits of my life back together. And this song has helped me remember why I loved this kind of music. I'm going to have to delve further into WASP's back catalogue and see what other hidden gems I missed out on. And of course other bands with a similar style.

Es muy difícil que repitan el "The last command" o "The Crimson idol" , pero aún de vez en cuando Blackie saca canciones tan buenas como esta para demostranos por que le queremos

More than 30 years on from their legendary obnoxious debut album, W.A.S.P. have managed to retain a level of credibility that precious few of their glam-metal peers ever even aspired to, let alone achieved. The truth is that mainman Blackie Lawless has always wanted to offer more than sex, drugs and exploding codpieces, but despite making his intentions plain on the unsung gems like Dying For The World and Unholy Terror, his band remain most loved for their early works; a frustrating situation for an eccentric artist who has nearly always aimed for cerebral depth over lascivious dirt. A logical continuation of the blistering hard rock sprawl of 2009's Babylon, Golgotha is full of muscular riffing, soaring melodies and moment of Who-like bombast, with very little of the snot'n'spite that informed Blind In Texas and I Wanna Be Somebody, but Blackie's determination to defy the past works in his favour throughout. Pulsating with energy and concentrated fury, songs like Last Runaway and Fallen Under are the equal of anything in the W.A.S.P. catalogue, but lifted to an even higher level via the organic oomph of arrangements that are as timeless as they are timely. Still kicking ass, then, but with more soul and intelligence than ever before.
