This video just felt right to do. Haven't done a Russian tank in a week and with the WIDE meme going around, it made total sense to do the IS-2!
The IS-2 is a Russian heavy tank that sits at 5.7 BR in War Thunder. Its 122mm gun can club everything from Jumbo's to Panther's with absolute ease. It's pretty quick, has a great reverse gear and its turret traverse isn't bad either. However, the reload speed of this yeeter is pretty slow compared to other heavies around the BR. The IS2 also has unreliable turret armour and its hull is easily exploitable depending on your angle.
To follow up, we have the T-34-85 and the Su-6 to help carry our team to victory!

Soviet tanks are so op smh, can barely shoot through the front on most of them at like a 4.0-5.0 battle rating but you can 1 shot a tiger through the front with a tank destroyer...

@@lukeweedon5478 Just play Germans, after 3.3 with the introduction of the panzer IV F2 you can always pen every soviet vehicle from the front with multiple vehicles in your lineup.

Honestly I've never found the reload to be as much of a problem as it would seem in the IS2 simply because the reverse speed is so good

You know, which other vehicles have very satisfying guns? The Italian 90mm Breda 501 and 90/53 M41M and the 102mm P.108A serie 2. ;) Also the AMX-50 Surbaissé/Surblindé with its 120mm autoloader, but that's a story for another time :D

I absolutely adore the IS2, because its bloody good- you will easily delete anything at ur BR, including straight through a panther UFP, the armour bounces way more than it should and the mobility is so good for a heavy tank. And its just bloody good fun to absolutely nuke people

IS series tanks are a learning curve for those who didnt start the game as the Soviets. The combination of that reload and that complete lack of gun depression is difficult, but you can make it work, especially on urban maps!

One of my strategies for playing the IS1 or Is2 is to back up towards the enemy with bushes on the behind to make it look like a completely different tank. You also have to angle a fair but as the rear is 2 angled 60mm plates that can bounce or no pen many rounds but only when you give it more angle yourself. IT works fairly well and I survive more shots than I would if my front plate was facing the enemy, plus if you put bushes in the right area you might be able to hide your turret cheeks a bit.

i onced bounced a round off a tigers driver view port with a is2 it was like a pixel big the ricochet area i checked later the tiger came on at 45° and i hit the left edge of the viewport

The tiger 1 also got a bugged turret ring. If you hit the turret ring from the side it's pretty much an auto non pen no matter how powerful your round is.

@@daphydrake7899 The Tiger 1 turret now has an effective thickness between 130mm and 250mm of armor in some places were armor plates overlap each other, that is amazing. If you are at 600 to 700 meters the american 76mm and russian 85mm can't pen your turret with APCBC and APHEBC, they need to use APCR which is a huge advantage for the Tiger 1.

you should give a shot to 6,3 RU, it's pretty much more of the same but better. The chicken net on the turret saved my life so many times, add to that the wonderful T44 and you're golden

Hehehe the fun I've had bluffing enemies away with the IS-2 during a reload that they weren't truly aware of when I last shot or not. While I was basically a sitting duck, I bought myself the time for the necessary reload acting like I'm gonna come up to them, they fear this round and back off, or atleast we dance back and forth a little instead of them storming my corner with still 15 seconds of reload to go 🦆 And it has an amazing reverse. Fun tank, quite squishy but fun nonetheless. Oh and IIRC it has a very accurate cannon.

I have just started using this tank and am almost immediately not thrilled with it for the same reasons as you. I don't have an expert crew so my reload is over 30 seconds 😂😂 Very painful to use. Wonderful when you make them pop though.

Oddbawz "I never spared past t3 in Russia because i dont do well with no depression" then he goes on to play well.. the IS-2 is an amazing long and mid range tank.. as at long range the angle of your shells eliminated most tanks vertical angles on their armor.. just have to remember it works as a suport vehicle, not a heavy brawler.

If you'd like a low tier fun combo the SU-57 or ZUT-37 with the Yak-2 KABB. Or the T-50 and Yak-2. The KABB feels like a free TIS MA

Odd have you had issues with joining a game today? I mean the server starts but it just doesn't let you spawn. You just spectate about 2 min.(maybe more) then you can spawn. I'm just curious about was it only in our game or other servers actually had this issue too. Luv ya

I'm terrible at tanks with no depression too. It sucks not being able to take a shot because your tank is two degrees off of absolutely level. Russia sacrificed too much just to maintain low profile turrets.

Really love this tank , especially if it played on urban battle. Like sweden , cargo port and advance to the rhine. But i still hate the fact that the 1944 version is in 6.3 , it's basically the same tank but with different front hull. And not really worked again some american tank like T34 , T25 or T29 , and some german tanks like Tiger 2 , waffenträger , ferdinand or jagdtiger. And it must face some sweden post-war vehicle like USH , etc.
