I have been using the Yamaha Musiccast Vinyl 500 for the past 2 weeks and in this video I go through all the parts of it that I feel are relevant to know if you are considering buying it. Great review, thank you! I have a Yamaha turntable that I purchased in 1980 and it still performs fantastic. I've replaced the belt a few times, obviously, but I'd be hard pressed to justify upgrading it. Weird that it doesn't have an auto stop tho....

Beautiful turntable, I bought one over a year ago, but I've had no end of issues with Yamaha Musiccast. Personally I would recommend upgrading the cartridge to something better but other than that it's a lovely turntable. 9 out of 10 for me.

nice accurate review - well done./ yes looks amassing sound good not having autostop at the end of the play - its just wrong though. If i had a choice i d return it for that reason alone

Es amarvilloso su sonido,prefiero el analógico,tengo Lp de la epoca,osea de hace 30 años y se escuchan geniales, casi como un cd,sin ese nivel de ruido,mis Lp Cubanos muy malos,los demas excelente.Gracias por su Review.

Where would you recommend to run a ground wire from, there doesn't seem to be a dedicated screw or exposed metal patch? Just thinking for electrical hum that's all??? thanks again :)

I currently use Dynavox TPR 2 and REALLY enjoy the sound and the features of it. Just know that with this turntable you turn off all the digital features when you don't use the built in. In terms of pickup I use ortofon blue and really enjoy that.

Very good video, thanks for the detail review. I understand that you ca;n use the Yamaha miracast speakers to cast the turntable to their app, do you know if it can be cast to the Google home speaker system?

Thanks man! You can cast the record player straight to the speakers regardless of where they are placed. Pretty much lossless. However I have never done it with Google home and I believe it's not possible, because Yamaha is a compeletely separate smart home system... It integrates a bit with alexa though :)

If you want to rip your discs to high resolution digital files such as PCM 24 or DSD. Then there is, for example, the PRO-JECT DEBUT CARBON RECORDMASTER HI-RES or the Sony PS-HX500

Essential detail that one can't use cable and MusicCast at the same time. Altogether not even a good addition to my existing Yamaha setup, shame. Great review!

I think that's REALLY not clearly explained in the info about this machine. Very sad that it is this way. For me it makes more sense to get a technincs and connect to my nx n500 and then stream from them.

With this you need either to use musiccast speakers or you use any player and connect to a broadcaster to see audio to your speakers.

Hi, maybe a little bit of a stupid question, but I am very new to this. The turntable doesnt play without a speaker right? You cant just pust in a record and it plays? Sorry for a noob question, thank you.

You are right. There's no built in speakers and to be honest the players that have that tend to be very very low quality...

Hi, Great review, thanks. I’ve been looking at this turntable for some time. One question about the sound of the pick up being out of sync with the audio from the speakers - do you hear the pick up with the lid down? I would have this next to my listening position. Is it annoying when the lid is closed? TIA

Please note that is only when you listen over wifi. And yes you hear it with the lid closed if you're somewhere near the player. When i stream to the next room of course it's no problem :)

@@MegaCarlsmith Ok - I wouldn't recommend that setup. I personally now use another player with cables to my nx n500 and if I want I stream to other rooms via the speakers. Then there's a delay between the rooms but I find that quite ok in most cases.

Yeah im new to this stuff. So is it possible to use this without the wireless connection, but instead with cables. I have Yamaha MCR-N870D and i would really like to have the turntable that is also Yamaha and this one seems good option pricewise. Thanks.

You can use it with cables both work the built in phono and with an external one.

Hey, I’m looking to get this turntable but do I need the Yamaha speakers to listen to the music or can I use my sonos speakers to listen to it?

You can use any speakers since it's a regular RCA but some sonos only do wireless and they won't work. Then you need a sonos bridge of some kind to make it wireless.

Can it Wi-Fi phono to Sonos speakers or only MusicCast speakers? I’ve never been able to make it play through my MusicCast reviver. I wish it did that

Only musiccast. You mean wireless you weren't able to? That would work no problem, sounds strange.

Yes you def need to whipe it every now and then. But it's not terrible! However the matte technics i have now is impossible to finger print :p

I don't own it anymore so I can't tell, but I would guess it cannot. It can stream to MusicCast.

Well, i have read somewhere that apple's airplay license only allows to receive airplay streams, so only apple devices are able to send/stream airplay to other devices for now...

@@ev_dm That's how bluetooth works, it's only recieving signal, can't send the vinyl audio to another device.

I have Yamaha musiccast speakers and because of that I didn't want this guy in the end. I prefer a better player (Technics sl1500c with ortofon blue) and then streaming from my speakers instead. :)

Hi there, I just bought this turntable. I’m a bit confused with the Bluetooth functionality they describe. Can I connect this to my external Bluetooth speaker and have the turntable stream the music there? How does the Bluetooth functionality of this turntable work? Thank you!

For all i know the Bluetooth is not going out only in. You can stream from your Bluetooth device to the record player, but not the other way around. Some people say you can but i don't think they have actually tried.

That's what I did but I don't think you can comprehend the amount of force I needed to use to make it click. I would say 99% of my available strength. I'm not a body builder but still in ok shape...
