First and foremost, great job on the review, like your enthusiasm !! To me someone who is a guide , and is rough on my equipment , my True love is the Ross CLA , which I dang near cried when they discountined it.... it is bullet proof i still have 2 of them today , love them dearly.... wish Ross would consider bringing them back.... The drag is awesome , and they are bullet proof.... peace out...

That is one sexy looking reel. I have a Ross Evolution LTX on my Winston Air and it’s by far my favorite reel I have.

Great presentation as usual. Nice reel. I have a bunch of older Hardy Lightweight series reels with the click and pawl drag. My first Hardy LRH was $25 and the extra spool was a whopping $7.00. I recently sold a pre-1970 Hardy Princess for $250.

Thank you very much. If I wasn't working with Ross and Abel I would be using an old Hardy as well! Now if only I can sell my reels for 10x the profit 40 years from now!

@@Wish4Fish In the video where it appears you are in a side channel and the water is slow were you using dries to those fish under the overhanging grass?

Good review. I too have only click & pawl reels (basically all are vintage Hardy made) as I see no need for 'train stopping' drags. And it's as you said you and the fish that's what's about not fish and technology. However the price is getting too high. The spare spool (I want one or two spare spools for my reels) prices is absurd (like almost all reel manufacturers). For ultra large arbor I can recommend the Danielson Traditional series (I own two models). They have simple but proven technology, priced very nice (very affordable spare spools!) and looks great too. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the review of the new Colorado. It looks great. I have the Colorado LT 4/5 and love it. Thinking about the 3/4 LT to add to my collection and it appears they are becoming scarce. Do you know if Ross is going to discontinue the LT series?

Hello Ken, I'm looking for a reel for my Orvis Helios II (10feet - #5)rod. I"m not sure about witch one to choose. The new Animas or the New Colorado. It is for a #5 line (WF-floating). I do like the colorcombi on the reel in this vid (not so important). If I decide I like the color combi. What brand line is it? Thank's for this review. Tight lines, Greetings from The Netherlands.

For a 5wt, all you need is a click n pawl. I suggest the Colorado. NEVER select a line because of the color. Always try to match the line with the rod and your casting style and application. This line is Airflo Power Taper

That’s totally self preference. I think it all depends on your rod and line and general style. I lean towards black.

Not sure if I would use the word practical. Definitely a lil convenient. I mean how many times so you take a part a reel anyways? Its VERY sturdy! As I mentioned there is zero play in the reel. Even without a locking mechanism the connections feels very tight. I feel that it is also an improvement from gen 1 as well.

Inside tip! If you’re interested in this color way I would get it QUICK! In March when they switch to Ridge Tech 2.0 the color is different! The Super Flo Power Taper color changes to Teal and Orange.

If you’re trying to accuse me of fishing reds that’s laughable. First of all, I don’t even fish for trout in the fall. Secondly, I don’t need to target helpless fish trying to get laid, I do just fine without it.

It is a bit heavier. Still VERY light. Almost too light if you ask me.

Totally! Improved all around! The only part I wasn’t sure about was the copper bit but that’s sort of growing on me. Plus I thought about it and Black would of looked strange. Silver would of been too plain. The copper goes with their new look. I also like how it makes it distinguishable from a distance.

Haha! That's like saying Montblanc's only purpose is for writing or BMW's only purpose is to get from point A to B. Yes, A Montblanc writes the same as a Bic. The BMW will get you to point A to B the same as a Ford. The Ross will catch the same fish as a Shakespeare. Although some people prefer the more stylish Montblanc driving a BMW fishing a Ross. Different strokes for different folks. That's actually on the cheaper side of reels! There are reels out there over 3x more.

Click and pawl reel with great warranty; nothing against Ross just for a simple reel I cannot follow anymore
