Howdy Mish, That's some beautiful clear water you have there. The old silver was a treat to see come out. The girl going into the water in the background is tougher than me but she and her dad sounded like they were having fun. 1948 is the year my wife was born. We met in college which we both attended at a later age than usual but we have been together for about 40 years. Ripper video. Stay safe and happy Mish.

Hi there Roelf! Did you notice the gradual shift in the water's colour over the course of the video? It started out picture perfect, but once the tide changed the tannic water flowed in and it went mucky rather quickly. I'm so glad I could pull up a year of such significance to you and your wife on this hunt. Cheers mate. :)

Nice hunt! Small brass valve probably part of a fuel system. Drain or bleeder valve. Find a “1961”. Better year than 62 LOL. Keep up the good work.

Second hit and a huge score. Nice coin. That water was so clear. Real nice spot with nice finds. Cool you help the couple with the sinker. That crab digging down was pretty awesome. Always fun to watch. Great video

Great hunt Mish, I knew I hadn't watched your latest, I was going to watch it Saturday morning but something came up and then I went out detecting, Better late than never lol, Congratulations on the Vicky sixpence great find, that couple fishing have to learn to cast properly before they knock someone out lol, I was born the year before we went to Decimal unfortunately I can't find a 1965 Australian coin just in a proof set.. even the American coins weren't made of silver in 65, 64 was there last year of silver.. Gooday Mish, I believe the find at 11:06 is a petcock valve {radiator drain} from an old car. Nice hunt, and nice finds! your coins a great and your scrap buckets must be getting full!

Hey Mish, You are hunting a very old area by the looks of the finds. Old coins and an old fuel tap or bleeding tap (Brass) Got a couple of dives in over the long weekend and it was peaceful, got 1.5hrs of bottom time @ 6Metres. Loved it. I need to put my vids out more getting a bit behind. Love the old sixpence. Good to see you in the water scoring some old stuff but you can keep the cold though. 10:50 is a brass lure that has been chromed Well done Mish Cheers Brad

Hey mate, definitely an old spot, I just love the weird and wonderful things I find in this region. So good that you’re getting out there - conditions were pretty shabby for my scuba dive last week (minimal vis, more choppy than expected) so we called it earlier than intended. I quite like the cold even if I look like the Michelin Man with all that neoprene 😂 cheers.

Mish, I believe finds ie wingnut etc belong to a yabbie pump. If you do not check tightness from time to time the inners come away.

No coffee money today but the silver more than makes up for it. Also I use a dry suit in the water. I can handle colder water for longer that way.

That silver is an absolute beauty, I'm in love. This suit does pretty well in the water for a wetsuit, I did buy some fishing waders for these types of hunts but they've gone unloved lately. Cheers :)

Thanks for the video.The nox is very stable in the salt water I have yet to take mine into the water but watching yours perform very well I can’t wait to give it a go.I have always used the Sovereign or Excalibur On one old Victorian/Edwardian bathing beach my son and myself over a period of about 2 years found and removed over 90 kg of lead fishing sinkers and some still had a linen type fishing line attached ,we eventually sold the lead for scrap..We also found a lot of other things the oldest coin was a 1835 shilling of William if I remember correctly,people in those days certainly knew how to have a good time well I suppose they didn’t have other forms of entertainment. That's incredible work, Brian - well done. Yes the nox is lovely and stable here but it's not always the case - black sand beaches are harder work and I find I have to lower the sensitivity somewhat as well as the occasional ground balance in the water. What's your thoughts on the Excal? I'm curious to know. Cheers!

@@DirtFishMish No problem the Excalibur very similar to my first Sovereign which I bought way back in '93 yes they do struggle with magnetic black sand and in extreme areas like that I actually use my very old Tesoro' Eldorado and manually ground balance with a 7"wide scan DD coil and it works! .If possible I search with the Excalibur in all metal/pinpoint mode but it depends on the situations Hope this helps you and happy hunting

Thanks Twinsy, I've pulled a few 1800's coins from here but that one was an absolute ripper! Straight to the pool room with that one. I've had one other Vicky sixpence from the water which I think might be older again, but all the details are gone - just the faintest hint of the youngest Vicky bust left. Cheers mate :)

at 11.05 this is a brass fuel tap from an older motor from a lawn mower or other small machinery. Interesting hunt. I love the pre-decimal finds.

@@DirtFishMish it’s really weird - I got 8 more coins today (4 pre decimal) - but it’s a such a short stretch of the beach! Same as yesterday- but so much garbage either side!! I call it my beach now - but I get so excited showing passer bys I’ll have to milk it quickly!!

Always amazed at how these old coins are still accessible at places like the beach. I was watching a video of yours with the Coffee Bush Kid a couple of days ago, and was inspired to take my Nox out before work to a close park with the hope of Pre Dec. I was rewarded with a 1964 Roo Penny in the 15 mins I had. Next day I tried at another site that I know is old and has history, and got a 1928 Commonwealth of Australia Penny after only a few mins. Pretty happy as usually I am too busy to detect, and have to watch you and others digging!

So amazing Mish! I am stunned and so surprised seeing that halfpenny come up and not trash. Somehow I love the eroded coins as a direct link between the finder and the one who last possessed it. Something freaky is happening since I have started detecting. Things are finding me when I am not detecting. Just walking down the street I am finding stuff like old locks, coins, jewellery etc. I have started to include them with my other finds because not having a detector at the time does not mean I did not detect metal. I am guessing our eye for detail gets a little more developed as we practice finding small targets in large piles. Thanks for posting this most amazing hunt. I am very envious.

You're so right in that once you start detecting, you develop an eye for targets (with or without the detector). It happens to me a lot. Of course, it could have something to do with the fact that I look at the ground a lot more often now... lol! Cheers mate.

Mish , You go girl ! The silver Queen. And yes your correct , a US guarter is a sold 30 on the Equinox. I own 13 machines they all differ. For example my Rutus it's 107.

I suppose if hardly anyone is pulling them out, and fishermen lose multiple of them on each beach every day... it certainly adds up. Fingers crossed for that silver, but I really can't complain lately. Cheers John :)

Yep, good ol' hemispheres! The water temperature should start rising for me now as it is generally coldest in September, meaning that I'll be getting the dive gear out more often (and I'm pleased to know that you're keen to see such videos). Can't wait. Cheers!!

Okay that wing nut and washer are related. They are off a yabby pump. For sucking yabbies from the sand for bait.. there is two washers sandwiching a rubber washer. You then had a brush from an electric motor. Followed by a solid metal lure.that brass tap would be a fuel tap for an old petrol engine. Possibly a marine engine.

I live in Coventry Mish. The Cathedral was completed and opened in 1962 and the floor is studded with '1962 pennies.

Congrats on the Victorian coin and the pleasant day of hunting. I was born in 1962. So it's cool to see that the kangaroo penny. Heard a rumor that Australia was going into lockdown again, hope it's not true.

It worries me that the world is only hearing the worst of our news right now. It's still a stunning place to live, and very few parts are subject to the strict lockdowns. The light is at the end of the tunnel for us :) Best of luck tracking down the relatives. Cheers!

Hey Mish, I had to use a small amount of gaffers tape at the base of my scoop shaft . It's leaves less sticky if any residue.

Great idea, when I taped mine I only had smooth electrical tape handy - I would've preferred a woven tape of some sort but it's on there now. 😂 Cheers!

7mm??? Wow! When surfing in California during the winter, my full suit is only 3/2mm, and that keeps me warm enough in the cold Pacific water. In California the ocean currents bring the water down from the north Pacific past Alaska so the water is always cold regardless of season. I can't imagine how cold the water must be where you are to have to wear a 7mm suit. Once again, a fun video!

I had a little look at the California ocean temps and it looks like our temps align somewhere between your central & northern coastal temps. Similar deal here, Antarctic currents can bring the chill up to my coast line. I could've probably gotten away with a 5mm but as I'm regularly stationary (unlike with surfing) it pays to have as warm a setup as possible :) Cheers mate!
