Don't tell a certain well known detectorist that you found a star picket or they will be jealous.

Mish, Please wear gloves when digging. I cringed every time you pulled a piece of glass or rusty metal from a freshly dug hole. Does Andrew wear gators to protect himself from the poisonous snakes you have in Australia? If so, does he have any antidotal stories to tell where he was glad he was wearing gaiters? Take care and stay safe.
@DirtFishMish4 күн бұрын
Thanks for your concern, Ray - going gloveless is an accepted risk on my part. As for snakes, I grew up around plenty of them - I was brought up in a rural environment much like the golden triangle. A heavy stomp and good peripheral vision go far in avoiding confrontation, the snakes may be deadly but few are aggressive as long as you respect their space. Cheers. 😊

Hi Mish, really good to see you back!!! Question for you. Is it still worthwhile to buy the Equinox 800? I will be upgrading from Vanquish 540, quite a few good specials running in South Africa on the 800.
@DirtFishMish6 күн бұрын
Hi there and thank you! Not fully back, but hoping to still put out an occasional video. :) Re: your question - if you can find a really good deal on the 800, I think it is still worth it. They are a great machine, and you'll still be able to get coils for quite some time due to the compatibility with the newer models. I'd definitely check the second-hand marketplace though (eg. Facebook etc), you may find that people are selling them very cheaply because of upgrading to the Manticore or 900. Cheers :)

Awesome you are finding American relics. I just dug 2 Australian coins in the same hole. Penny and a half penny, both 1951. Both were strung on a beaded chain with some type of pendants. Was very interesting to say the least.

Howdy Mish, That belt buckle is a really cool find. They were only manufactured for 1 year in 1853. Imagine finding one in Australia. The guy who owned it must failed to strike it rich in California so he thought he'd try his luck in Australia. What an adventurer. It always makes my day to watch one of your videos especially when you team up with Australian song bird, Andrew. Hope you and yours are all doing well. Your buddy, Roelf
