I had a feeling you would appreciate this. It's a nice, relaxing tune for all the reasons mentioned. I especially like the interplay between the vocals. An extra thumbs up for the Murph and the Magic Tones reference. 😄

This performance caught me by surprise the first time I viewed it too. This band is just so versatile, remembering that versatility requires multiple skills.

It's more enjoyable to watch DH enjoy what he reviews. Also, why hasn't DH reacted to Tokyo Groove Jyoshi's cover of "What is Hip?" (Or anything by Juna Serita, Senri Kawaguchi, The Jazz Avengers, etc).

This song was composed by Yuko (vocalist) and arranged by Machiya (guitarist, second vocalist). one of my favorite songs from this band. Thank you for reacting to WGB.

As @penel1849 mentions, the version he mentions is actually better because Yuko has her keyboard onstage and the intro is even smoother. It's played a bit more up beat and they seemed to have more fun playing the song. IMO, even jazzier.

I am glad you were recommended this version but in a way, for a change I hoped you would be watching the music video. Not often I would say that! This is mainly because I will request another version of this song played live, that demonstrates the extreme talent of the Wagakki Band. In the MV, the two main characters a man and a woman swap roles for a night out. When they swap clothes the video is clever as when you the man sings, you hear the woman's voice and vice versa. It is worth a watch and will not spoil my request. Other comments, have mentioned the version I would like you to review, so hopefully, you have not seen it already? For me this has a 'swing' feel and obviously jazz influences as well. I don't claim to know all the Wagakki Band material but believe this track is a bit of a 'one off'. So glad you enjoyed Synchronicity and your score reflected that.

WAGAKKI-BAND plays a wide variety of music. The song happens to have an old jazz flavor, but the band covers hard rock and metal to folk songs and near-classical genres. In other words, for them, the "classification" of music may seem meaningless. It probably means something like "music is only one field, music". I think the main vocalist, Yuko Suzuhana, is the key to this band's characteristics. She is a great singer, but a woman with many musical talents. She is an excellent pianist and composer. … Given this talent, you might have thought of another woman. that's right. I think Yuko Suzuhana is a musician who can bring innovation to Japanese rock/metal along with Miyako (LOVEBITES). ---------- from Nippon *It is a sentence using Google translation. Great reaction ! Seeing you enjoyed this I really think you would love " Yoshiwara Lament " . AND as you mentioned Tower of Power's " What is Hip " there's a brilliant Japanese band called TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI who do a cool cover of it ( complete with shamisen ) and they've got a GREAT bassist called Juna Serita

You really have to check out "Synchronicity" from the 2022 Dai Shinnenkai New year's Concert. It has English subtitles and you get to see Yuko show her excellence on keyboards The official music video for this song is also an excellent viedo for a reaction. It is very well done and have some really interesting aspects that refer specifically to the song itself. It is really a great song. I also believe that Yuko and guitarist Machiya collaborated on writing the song.

Wagakki is not a 1 trick pony. They can do it all ! You should watch "Ikusa" + "Hakushu Kassai" live from Dai Shinnenkai Yokohama Arena 2018. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gdKZY7BeydPTlaM.html but only if you like Bass and showmanship. enjoy
