In case no one has explicitly mentioned it yet: this song was written by Yuko and Amy together during the depth of Covid lockdown. It's about holding out until you can reconnect with friends and loved ones. So this isn't an Amy Lee cameo, it was a straight up collab between her and Yuko. I also think this song doesn't hit as hard as Wagakki Band's usual fair, but it comes from an earnest place and may be the x-factor as to why Yuko is so subtly strong. This was her message of missing her friend and a promise to meet again. And, yes, this live was done during Japan's travel restriction, so Amy Lee being on stage was a no-go sadly. Anyway, hope that gives you some insight, and I also recommend Hakushu Kassai if you want a live that shows how good everyone in the band is. Everyone gets a mini solo, but also a bunch of mino duets. So good.

It's accurate. Amy Lee recorded the song with them. She can't be at all of their performances. People are so nitpicky.

IIRC this was also a Japan tour during COVID. For all we know they had planned for her to join (parts of) the tour, but got blocked by travel restrictions. But score can't be based on hypotheticals.

I know I gush about female Japanese ladies in bands but when you wondered about Suzuka being able to stay in tune, I had to smile. Fortunately, but it may have been requested, you have not heard the proper collaboration between Wagakki Band and Amy Lee, singing Bring Me to Life. I would argue this is not my opinion but oh dear Amy! Twenty years sining the same song but Suzuka leaves you in her wake! The point is, you need not have worried about Suzuka, miss pitching. During the pandemic, Suzuka recorded herself sat at a piano and electronic keyboard, talking and singing songs. It was this point I just became starry eyed about her. I know looks are irrelevant with regards to musical ability but her beauty, musical talent, grace and charm are off the chart! You have heard her vocal talent in this song. Wait to you see her brandish a katana about in what I assume is a traditional manner. Your score is no problem at all for me as a Wagakki Band aficionado. I always wonder how the balance is achieved for their live performances? Obviously, the DVD's/BluRays are all re mixed and balanced for home listening. However, with all the instrumentalists on stage, it is amazing that one instrument does not end up too loud or soft.

Her name isn't Suzuka, but (Yuko) Suzuhana.

7,8 is a good score. Not every song can be perfect and they didnt bring the live effects in this performance what we used to see. You should try "Ikusa" + "Hakushu Kassai" Live from Dai Shinnenkai 2018 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gdKZY7BeydPTlaM.html I know we will get back to the 9 score with that one.

Great choice. That is the one people should be reacting to. Ikusa just shows the crazy energy of their live shows and Hakushu Kassai give a spotlight to all the different instruments the reactor may not be familiar with. Asa needs more bass spotlights in general.

You might have been confusing Yuko Suzuhana the lead singer for Wagakki Band, with Tenge Fuyuki (Fuki) of Unlucky Morpheus & Dolls$Box. Fuki is the one who will use the overtly wide (harsh) vibrato. Yuko generally doesn't let the vibrato get out there quite as much. Yuko Suzuhana, of Wagakki Band, is formally trained in traditional Shigin singing, along with extensive training on classical piano. I haven't seen any information on Tenge Fuyuki's training. I suspect some opera training, along with training in Japanese styles (perhaps less formally). I have wondered whether Wagakki band's success blending traditional singing styles to contemporary rock, has had an influence on Fuki's singing style. There was a noticeable shift in Fuki's singing style, right around the time Wagakki Band hit the scene in 2015.

imo, Amy isn't necessary. She's been in a couple now and really its just a distraction. I suspect they are just trying to get some recognition. hell, they should just get a couple collabs with Suzuka and it would be far more interesting and get the eyes they really want on them. I love Wagakki Band..big fan, but this was a dull song compared to...most other stuff they do.

WhenI first heard the collaboration for Bring Me To Life, it was the only time I have listened to it all the way through. Amy Lee, has had twenty odd years to sing and perfect Bring Me To Life. Obviously, I don't know how long Suzuka, had to practice but she totally out shone Amy's vocal, from the off.

TBH - from a musical standpoint the collaborations with Amy Lee are fairly pointless . They add nothing to any of the songs and my only thought is that they're perhaps using them as a way of increasing their U.S. profile . BTW - the chances of Yuko singing anything " out of key " are slim to zero ! 🤣
