A long time ago depending on which color braids you wore it signified which tribe you belonged to. Nowadays they really don't have any meaning but they could resemble which school you represent or which team you're a part of during the competition. Muay Thai doesn't use a belt system like other arts. Each braid is supposed to be given to you by your master after you've proven yourself but nowadays you can buy them off Amazon or Ebay.
