I love the result. I saw another youtuber do something similar about 2 years ago she is Jamaican Viv Hair Therapy. She did it from a turoial about victorian sock curls her curls came out something like straw curls only much bigger and she sperated it and it look really good. I love bothe of yall methods and I definitely have to try it sometime

Very cool! At first I was like...is this like back in the day when Betsy Ross didn't have flexi rods? But at the end you had so much better instant volume than flexi rods give. You didn't even have to fluff and separate. I guess those of us with mid-length hair gotta use ankle socks tho 🤣 Of course, the real challenge for 4C hair is HOW LONG DO THE CURLS LAST...sometimes we can go thru all that and they still puff up and revert after only a few hours (especially for those of us who live in humid areas). Still, it looks like a fun thing to try.

Your hair looks GORGEOUS! This came out sooooo well. I wonder how it would look if you used a butter or oil. You look beautiful!! I wonder if there are silk or satin socks you could use instead since that’s easier on type 4 hair. I love this because it’s soft gorgeous curls not the little girl Shirley Temple cork screw curls that you can sometimes get with flexi rods. Love love love!

Looks beautiful 😍!!!! Back in the day , we used Vaseline while our hair was still wet , then rolled the hair up with twisted pieces of brown paper bags !!! 🤭🤗👍💃😚 You can also plait your hair after it is dry using a little bit of grease or oil and your hair will come out in bigger looser wavy curls !! I like to use Tea Tree oil ! But you only need VERY little !! The curls will be bouncy, shiny and very nice !!

Hi Latoya, I know I'm very late had some school to do. Could you make a video on natural protective styles that last a while. I am 10 and you've really been a big help in teaching me to love and care for my hair. And throughout this journey you and my mom have motivated me so much, as my mom was so accecpting and bought everything I needing. She even started to be more gentle as she got those nigerian hands!

When I pull a few strands of hair from; -the back, it touches my boobs, -the side, it touches my collarbone, -and the front goes a little over my chin. In history southern black women and Victorian women years ago use brown paper bag and cut it into strips to twist their Rag curls” were created by cutting up strips of cloth and curling slightly damp hair around the rag. In the , a style known as “Marcelling”(Victorianrag curls) became popular; the hair was evenly crimped creating a rippling wave throughout the length of hair.

I love it. I haven't mastered the flexi rods yet but this sock method seems easier and gentler on the hair. Do you feel that the sock dried the hair faster since it absobs moisture or is it the same drying time as a flexi rod?. Also, I've seen videos on KZfaq about DIY okra gel and some of the women said it detangles their type 4 hair well and defines their curls so maybe you could try it, and even compare it to flaxseed.

I didn’t begin on terribly wet hair, so it didn’t seem like it took a long time. Also, mousse dries pretty fast. I waited over night for bother methods but for flexi rods I used Shea butter. I’ve got a video on that too!

That came out really beautiful but like you I kind of feel like I would want something other than cotton socks to prevent breakage of the hair. I don't think they make satin socks though but maybe nylon? Do I even know what I'm talkin about?
