What we got was RTD celebrating himself, not what made Doctor Who great. That would take away from him and his victory lap.

If I was the showrunner, here’s what I would’ve done. Bring back the Toymaker but make him very bitter since in the OG episode he mentioned he was a terrible loser. So he plans his revenge and wants to play a game with the Doctor but not just with the current one but he wants to belittle EVERY Doctor that came before him. A threat so big it required all the Doctors (or at least the ones we could get back).

I agree with everything you had to say about everything! These 3 Specials were a victory lap for RTD and Season 4. There was absolutely no celebration of the 60 years of Dr.Who at all!!! I did not watch any of these 3 specials because I don't have Disney Plus and frankly I don't want it. What we saw was the end of bbc Dr.Who and the beginning of Disney Who. I as a life long Dr.Who have ZERO interest in this debacle of a show!!!! Dr.Who is dead and I'm out for good!!!!

I suffered through Chibnall, for the slightest hope that there could be a course correction, and this ended up being all the worst excesses of RTD. So sad that a British TV institution could be run into the ground like this. Let's see what happens in 10 years or so after a cancellation and hopefully, a resurrection. 🤞

I think a 10-15 year rest would be great. They could write books, comics and Big Finish could continue with past Doctors to keep up the lore.

What do I think? Personally I loved them, all 3 of them. I've been a fan of Doctor Who for 12 years, and I know that's not a lot compared to some people but it doesn't diminish my passion. It's my favorite show. I HATED the last 3 seasons. They were terrible. But the first episode for me felt like a breath of fresh air, a visit from an old friend. I can agree, they do not feel as special as the 50th, to be sure. That special, along with An Adventure in Space and Time, were easily the most genuine and heartfelt homages to the classic show that they possibly could have done. But truly, these specials show writing this show hasn't seen in years. I know the first episode had Identity politics, which I'm certainly not a fan of, but honestly I barely noticed. And I know you're sitting there reading this, saying How could you possibly not notice!!! I was more focused on sci fi stuff like Donna's amnesia, the Meep, the guy's chasing the Meep, the action scenes, the Shadow proclamation scene, UNIT, fun stuff like that, which for me was most of the episode. Then episode 2, Wild Blue Yonder, might be an all time best Doctor Who ep, and the third one was a fun adventure with the Toymaker. Idk man, for me, it feels like my favorite show is finally back to the excitement, the magic, and wonder of Doctor Who.

How could you not be affected by what they did to "The Doctor" even if the rest of the show had been absolutely perfect? They completely destroyed the character and took away all the respect and dignity he's gained over the last 60 years. They lectured him about pro-nouns but they also insulted and degraded him completely during that lecture. How dare they be so condescending to a man who is so old, and has experienced, literally, millions of races and customs, and is an Alien whose mere intelligence they can't even begin to comprehend. An Alien who has literally saved the planet over and over again when we could do absolutely nothing. They have what , in the script, is supposed to be a 15 year old girl giving this lecture to him. Even if she was affected by a brush with Timelord power which he supposedly isn't anymore by the way, it's still ludacris....and then to come right out and tell him that it would have been better if Jodi Whittaker had come back instead of him because there is nothing whatsoever he can do about anything because he is a "Male-Presenting Timelord" which I remind you again, supposedly now... a Timelord he is not, and they continue to fix everything on their own because ,only a woman can do it, and supposedly they are so good they just have to.... POOF! let it go and wish it away. Apparently he was too stupid to even do that. I hate to be the one to break it to you my friend but what you experienced wasn't a return to the normal writing, or even something new that was awesome. It was the funeral and celebratory party of the death of our Hero "The Doctor". and I can't prove it, but I guarantee there was a cannibal feast at the end. On top of that it's very hard to believe in the character of what is supposed to be a 15 year old transgender kid when your obviously watching a middle-aged man in drag. Even the show's "wig-maker" should be shot. That thing was horribly fake looking, and comedic. The overall effect was just pathetic looking. The world has gone insane.

@dwaynecrowder8141 Well first of all, I'll say that I didn't like that scene at all. It was condescending and poorly written, and I agree with almost everything you said. But I don't think that one scene where characters were condescending ruins the character, because it has little to do with him. It's just other characters being preachy, they didn't change anything about The Doctor, they simply had other characters talk AT him for a few minutes, which was terrible, but I have a thick skin. I don't let a single scene ruin my experience, and I thought the rest of the episode was absolutely delightful. But I must say, I feel you're being a little condescending to me as well, and being a little dismissive of my opinion. Stating that you "hate to be the one to break it to me" is essentially you trying to tell me that I was incorrect about what I saw, and that my opinion about what I saw is wrong. No one's opinion is wrong. Including yours! If you didn't enjoy the episode and don't want to watch the show anymore, then I'm not going to tell you otherwise! However, I must also say that while I strongly dislike identity politics and having agendas forced down my throat, I also have zero tolerance for transphobia. And calling the actress who played Rose a man in drag is incredibly offensive in my opinion. One of my best friends is Trans, she's a very kind and nice person who has never harmed anyone nor attempted to shove political correctness down anyone's throat. That's not who the trans population are, they are simply people trying to exist. This episode had moments of poor writing where they veered into being too preachy for sure, but I don't think that it's very kind of us to insult trans people, even if they're not directly in front of us. It's not kind. And as a fan of Doctor Who, one of the greatest lessons I've learned from the show, from the words of the great man himself, "Always be kind." 😊

@@JDirkfilms2I never meant to de-value your opinion or speak condescendingly to you In any way. I have talked to a lot of people lately who were so excited about the shows' return that they didn't even realize what was actually said until they watched again and were horrified. If I made a mistake it was mistaking you for one of these people from the way you talked and I apologize. As far as my being Transphobic, I don't have a problem with it at all. I mentioned the wig to point out how everything in the production was flawed, even casting and wardrobe. If It sounded condescending I apologize for that also but it's how he looked. I also have someone transgender in my family, and three gay cousins, and I have gay friends. People can do what they want. I don't care...but everyone coming into this debate has no clue what respect is, or how to be nice to other people. And now Russell has started being this way towards fans. They don't talk, they yell at people and want their way no matter what or who it hurts. They are being detrimental to their own cause treating people this way. The entertainment industry and other big businesses are losing money and going out of business because they fell in line with the WOKE ideology. and they go on acting like children. I guess we'll agree to disagree but I feel like if what's happened in Doctor Who lately hasn't bothered you, if you can't foresee what this is going to do to the show in the future, then you were never really a fan to begin with. And no matter how thick your skin is one day someone will change something you love so much that it's not what you loved to begin with anymore. Then you'll feel violated. Then you'll get it.

@dwaynecrowder8141 hey, I totally understand. It's already happened, and you're right! It didn't happen overnight, but the live action Disney Movies and the animated films have absolutely been crippled by woke ideology, and Marvel as well. The failure was far from immediate, but we are FINALLY seeing the ramifications from the company's poor decision making skills and agenda-first ideology. There's little things like Lefou being gay in Beauty and the Beast that's fun, entertaining and makes sense from a character perspective, but then there's Strange World, the live action Aladdin, Snow White, Little Mermaid, and the general mentality behind all their recent work that's absolute garbage, and it's so disappointing. But still, I'm an optimist. Even Disney still makes good things sometimes! I personally loved Jungle Cruise, Cruella and Haunted Mansion recently. Which tbh makes their other movies even MORE disappointing. Because it's like, if you can make stuff over here that's actually good, then why are your other films so bad? It's so frustrating. But I don't think it's forever. This year's box office shows audience disillusionment with the Disney brand. A reckoning has come for them. And change is coming! People say company's learn nothing but that's simply not true. Company's learn all the time. But only when it hits them where it hurts most, their wallets. And it finally has. So we'll see change! Anyway, as for Doctor Who, I think that the preachy, in-your-face, condescending approach they took with that scene at the end is the way to go. If they're smart, they won't do that again. That remains to be seen! You're not wrong about Davies, he's a stubborn guy and he'll stand by what he wrote no matter what, and never see that talking down to people doesn't work. Having said that, I didn't feel that way watching Wild Blue Yonder, and hardly at all in The Giggle minus one or two little moments. But that Davros short film was ridiculous, and his justification for it. So hey, maybe it'll be terrible! But I don't think it is right now. I'm so excited for Christmas, and Ncuti Gatwa is already amazing as the 15th Doctor. As of now I'm very positive and think the show has a bright future ahead!

It was far more sexualised in 2005-2010. It's just that nobody noticed or cared because he was Straight. Sorry if that's a bit difficult to handle for most people, but it's true. I actually found DW BEFORE Stephen Moffatt (allowing his faults) very cringe worthy at times and Torchwood was even worse (but that's largely down to Chibnall's load bearing before it went to BBC1 - then it actually improved a bit. But imagine if 21st century Who had been SPECIFICALLY made for Torchwood's audience?!? Sheeesh
