Hey Legends, Welcome back to another episode here in Cape York, Far Northern Australia. Get ready for one KICKASS DAMPER this episode... Well we're stranded in the bush for a couple of days due to a COVID LOCKOUT in all the Cape York communities. We've been in the bush on the East Coast now for nearly 2 weeks so havent seen any of the news until getting close to the Gulf of Carpentaria I make a sat phone call.
But is there a better place to be stranded? Barramundi Fishing, Camping and some Camp Cooking... A picturesque freshwater river which could sustain life indefinitely, rapids to clean off in and blue skies every day! So good, Hope you guys enjoy the episode. We're hitting the West Coast Rivers next episode so stick around for that!

This episode reminds me so much of living in the west Kimberley. Another great episode, literally watched every episode from season 1 until now. Not sure how use went with the fresh water muscles but in the Kimberley Western Australia I used to find them buried in the mud, under the tree roots on the bank of the river. If use haven’t already, give it go. Really dig in with your hands and pull em out. Good enough for a feed if yah hungry 🤙🏿

How awesome are fridays with Wild reaches! Yeeewww! What a bloody spot mate! How awesome! Was on the edge of my seat, really different little system! Yeah the original tinny drift episodes are what got me hooked on you guys to begin with mate! I loved that! When the lads and myself head north we play a game we call fishing cricket. It can be tailored for any different fishing scenario! For example! Wenlock tinny drift! Sooty would be 2runs a big one would be 4! small Barra 2 runs over 60cm 4 and one over 80 is a six! Toga 4 runs! And so forth! Loose a wicket for a turd burger “catfish” keep score and winner gets a week off the dishes! Haha! We write it in a book and I have a couple dozen of them in the shed over 20 years! Awesome memories to look back on too! Can remember nearly every fish when I look back! Long winded but there you go! Haha that’s me! Thanks so much once again for all of your hard work legend man!

I love this Jay. The first trips Dane and Inever did were to the Love River, south of Aurukun and we played that, we had all the fish written up with the scores on a laminated piece of paper and we took it pretty seriously. So much fun tho! It was a slower ep tonight but glad everyone still enjoyed it

Nate the damper dame made with the sweet chilli cheese and bacon looked dam good on every levle you asked about are you a cooked or just warmed raw bacon person . Brother in your suation with the damper being dry i sagest just a quick warm up is theres a lil bit of fat still on the rashers so it will melt in by the time in cooks its gonna add flavour 100% and cut out that slightly earthy flour side to all dampers seem to have and most likely go on the driection of a calzone boys totaly love watching every video you make along with the elders and to's much respect to them and you from campbelltown sydney Australia 🤙🤙🤙🤙

@@WildReaches anyways.. cool episode! great area to explore. tinny drifting next episode should be good to see .. maybe include some more of those logistical planning shots u were talking about organising the how to 4wd setup camp site to quad bike to launching tinny / boat . I was trying to figure out there must of been a area where the scrub got too thick for 4wd so u went on quad to explore . but I guess to launch a boat from a 4wd would still be possible maybe not as much of a drive tho ..
@WildReaches
@WildReaches 2 жыл бұрын
@@brentmcd12 yeah youre right mate, the scrub got real thick further down the river and just super soft sand to tow the quad trailer through. Youd do it no worries if thats all you had but you might get bogged a few times which is just more time consuming. Getting the quad off just saves heaps of times normally and allows you to explore much tighter country.

Never had any luck with the fresh water mussels. Tried a couple of ways, but I reckon your hat would taste better. Like the saltwater ones. I enjoy watching you guys walk these rivers. Don't mind you not catching fish. Plenty of other fishing channels available, but you show us some pristine country in an interesting way. Keep it up.

That’s Greg, I’m glad it’s still enjoyable when the fishing isn’t firing. The mussels are no good hey? I still can’t wait to try some, we ended up finding them with some local lads but didn’t eat them
