This is one of the most real musicals I have ever listened to. No-one can ever tell me Musical Theatre is losing quality if gems like this are on broadway. God I can’t wait for the west end run.

Okay, I understand that Sara Bareilles wrote the music and all, and I'm not discounting that she(Bareillesll)'s not a good singer, she is. BUT, I've got admit, listening to both her and Jessie Mueller do the same songs, I have to say I just love Jessie Mueller's version better. To me at least, Jessie Mueller just puts way more inflection and raw emotion into the songs-not just this one, but all of them-you can SEE the song, if that makes sense when she sings. Just my hounest opinion, I like Sara Bareilles, but, to me, Jessie Mueller just has more in her singing, you can almost beleive it's not just acting, it's really her going through it, and she just...idk...*sigh* I can't really justifiably explain it right.... Again, all simply, MYNSHHO🤷

I feel the exact same. All my friends and even my mom enjoy Sara more, but I just love the rawness in Jessie’s vocal’s, I just feel like Sara sounds too trained...

I love both Sara and Jessie especially Waitress. Jessie's version is taken within the musical context that's why I feel the emotion more plus she's singing this as Jenna rather than being Jessie while Sara's version was sang as part of the album where the composer sings all the songs she wrote for the musical. So they're not comparable for me :) :)

Hey Samantha, you'll probably won't see this, but if you do, thank you for posting these songs and photos together! I'm from a country halfway across the world and I'll probably won't get to see these musicals for another 10 years or if at all if the run closes. So thank you! This song really speaks to me more than anything right now. Everything is changing as my job transitions from retail bookstore to working from home. Same company, same job, different location, more responsibility. It is a heck of a challenge, but I am up to it.

I love this song and the scene from the movie where Jenna gives birth and meets Lulu and dumps Earl's ass I haven't seen the musical but I have seen the movie it's based on and the whole movie she refers to the baby in her womb as "Earl's baby" or just "Dear Baby" but when she finally holds the baby, she realizes NO this is NOT Earl's baby this is MY baby and gonna love her with all my heart, the hell with you Earl and she learns to love herself and doesn't need a man for validation and she breaks up with Dr.Pomatter after seeing how much his wife loves him, so she ended up, single in the end but she didn't end up alone cause now she has her daughter and her two best friends that supported her the whole way and her new pie restaurant she named after her daughter

Depending on what you like, you could dig into Sondheim (I.e company, Sunday in the park with George, and into the woods which you listened to already), ALW (Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock, Evita, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, and etc.), or some other stuff like Rodgers and Hammerstein (Cinderella, Oklahoma, Carousel, and whatnot).
