Been roofing 45 years always put roofing felt over the valley flashing to allow any ingress of water to travel down the valley

What an absolute bodge up. best advert i have ever seen for a reason not to buy something. irrespective of the quality of the product.

yeah yeah, lead is the best product for the job, because my dad and grand dad and 50 generations be4 that used it back to when Romans came on this island and taught u how to build houses instead of mud huts. let me guess you still use mortar to bed ridges and F1 felt to waterproof it . its not like redland spend loads of cash on German test centres to get the guarantees in order. it doesn't have the finish of the lead,BUT its half the price, half the weight, its not toxic, easy to handle and doesn't require 10 years of experience to install

If it was effective as lead then it would be used on new builds over lead as its cheaper and the builders are greedy fuckers.

And probably needs replacing in a decade. Or use shitty old fashioned lead and never have to touch it again.

Jeez, sooooo many 'experts' on here who have never seen, touched or even used the product but who feel fully qualified to pass judgement! I wish I was that clever...I expect you all want to bring back steam trains and coal fired ranges! :)

I’m a roofer and I’ve installed this and it’s not good , mite b ok on a mock roof in a factory but on a roof on site in wind and dampness it’s jank

Lead will last the life of the building you biff. The latest materials and methods don't always equal an improvement.

Ffs, I actually came here looking for an alternative to lead but if ever there was an advert for not to use a product this was it. Looks such a bodge job.
@lyonkerry92 Жыл бұрын
the short answer is there is no replacement for lead.
@jacobosborne972 Жыл бұрын
I'm an Aussie roofer and we use metal valleys instead of lead. I'm sure there is a good reason, but why does the UK use lead valleys and not metal ones?
@lyonkerry92 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobosborne972 we also use metal and fiberglass valley, depending on the roof sometimes a tiled valley. I would say there are two main reasons for using lead. with all roofing systems it depends on the roof as choice and what they like to do. reason 2 is there are a lot of old houses and the look of lead fits the aesthetics. there are alternatives to lead but no replacements as a good slate roof with all lead trimmings should last over a 100 years before a major repair is needed and even then all the lead would be recycled. alternatives to lead in England generally last up to 50 years. I have used alternatives depending on the roof system and customers preference. for example if the customer wants a concrete tile roof to match the area they are in then I would use a dry fibreglass system so I'm not using cement to point the tiles in the valley as that would be the first thing that would need to be repaired so I don't have anything against alternatives but a replacement should be as good or better. I hope this answers your question 👍
